The Patron Saint of the Internet

- St. Isidore of Seville has the marvellous (albeit unofficial) title of 'Patron Saint of the Internet' - acting as God's heavenly advocate of the digital world. However, this may all change depending on whether the recently beatufied Carlo Acutis gets canonised. If so, the teenager may become the official Patron Saint of the Internet.
In this video, we'll explore the unusual lives and afterlives of Saint Isidore and Carlo Acutis, but also take a look at some other wacky and obscure patron saints. Like St. Drogo, patron saint of ugly people and coffee.
Wow, after my most recent upload the channel has been on the upward, and now is at the lofty heights of 330k subscribers. Thank you all, all this continues to astound me. To celebrate, I intend to do a Q&A video. Stay tuned!

This kid deserves this. His love and devotion to God, the church, and knowledge should be enough for him to achieve sainthood
Well, it indeed is enough to achieve sainthood. "There's a many saints that only God knows the name of".
you forgot about the 2 miracles requirement
Well, the video stated that it isn't enough, actually. So let's all pray Isidore, for he let us know about this blessed child
Exactly! It would be wonderful. It's nice knowing this kid who helped his community out so much is already celebrated though
He become a saint a week ago!
Also, maybe if I pray to Carlo Acutis, I’ll find less hackers in Warzone....
That would be a miracle worth being canonized
I will convert to christianity if Carlos could do that tbh. And if he does they better replace jesus with Carlos

I still like to think saint Isadore would be proud of the fact that his quest to compile all knowledge would be something that would still be upheld even beyond his lifetime
Same. His intense curiosity is what drove me to researching him and almost choosing him when I did my confirmation
This video reads less like a video about St. Isadore and more like a campaign for Blessed Carlo's sainthood. Which as I wholeheartedly approve since he seems like a good kid.
Sounds like he was a great kid. Hell, I'm not even Christian and I'm rooting for his canonization. He deserves it!
He led a really damn good life in that pretty much all of it was made to help others. I think Blessed Carlo would make a great saint.
@@thenoltzone498 He doesn't profit from his canonization. The only ones profiting are the Catholic faith and superstition in general.

@Critically Endangered Mahiru roblox
I was raised Catholic so I was told whenever I lost something to pray to Saint Anthony. I didn't know that he was considered obscure. Everyone I knew said to pray to him to find stuff.
I remember there was this cute little prayer for him. Something like
“Tony Tony here my sound
Something’s lost. Make it found.”
he has a church in nc
He also got a classic trippy novel written about him in the 1800s, The Temptation of St. Anthony by Flaubert.
Yeah... my mother literally invoke him every time she loses something.
I was even partially named after the Saint lol
"You have one hour to finish your exam... also I can fly" -St. Joseph of Cupertino (possibly)
"Yo i almost downed an American bomber by giving it's crew a heart attack lmao"
Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, probably
It should be noted that aiming to become a Saint is in itself a way to ensure you don’t achieve sainthood.
You must be a ‘good person’, not a ‘person whos only good because of the rewards they think they are entitled to’.
Someone aiming to be *recognized* as a saint in this world is struggling with the sin of pride. All Christians should seek to spend eternity with God, which is really what sainthood means, but the issue comes when you want to be glorified on earth for your good deeds. Many such cases!
You're like 16.
I used to watch The Good Place too.
isnt this why there were ppl who doent like mother teresa?? or was it just ppl being mad in general
Like people that do "good" just to go to heaven but feel horrible while helping someone (I wonder how could someone like this be accepted with the real good people in heaven, it couldn't work)
I kinda hope the kid becomes a saint. While he probably doesn't care, the kid had a big heart, it would be nice to see his name immortalized in my religion.
If he is in heaven, he already is a saint.
If he gets canonised on Earth it will make no difference.
He might, but he also might not. Pope Francis is a satanist, so anything he says has no value. The upper echelons of the religion are tainted as well.
Proof?
By that I mean the pope is a satanist

The patron saint of Pandemics...
*Distant Oof*
Why, Sebastian, why
Yes he’s the patron saint of pandemics, to clarify he’s a protector from plague and patron of plague victims
But he’s also the Patron Saint of archers, athletes, and those who desire a saintly death
His story goes:
A military officer serving in the infamous Praetorian Guard, Saint Sebastian was horrified by the acts committed against early Christians. He secretly converted to the faith and aided the persecuted wherever he could. When his boss, the Roman Emperor Diocletian, found out he was livid and sentenced his bodyguard to death. He was shot until “he was full of arrows like an urchin”; however he miraculously survived and was nursed to full health by St Irene of Rome. St Sebastian confronted Diocletian and basically gave him a verbal Roman middle finger for his crimes against Christianity. He was then subsequently beaten to death on the spot.
Wow you're so funny. I fucking laughed ahahaha 😐

Elephants burry and mourn their dead, as do apes, elephants going as far as to tend to the grave of the deceased. Scientifically speaking, that's just a lifeless corpse, taking care of it doesn't help your survival in any way, it's a nonsensical behavior. Apes have been observed to build "shrines" and perform all kinds of abnormal, "religious" rituals. The same story with dolphins. So if intelligence is directly correlated with a deep esoteric understanding of the word, why should we reject it? Especially when every single lesser creature seems to view the world in a purely materialistic way. To reject this part of us is to reject being human, to reject being part of an intelligent species.

I heard about Carlos n I think he would be an awesome candidate for saint of the internet. He was a child of our time n has directly worked on the internet for chritianic practices n services, so it'll definitely make sense.
There is a play station 2 controler in a Catherdral somewhere because it is a 2nd classs relic associated with Carlo Acutis. Also you should probably draw a distinction between someone who is a saint, i.e. someone in heaven and a Saint (capitilalized) someone who is cannonized
I feel like the “Servant of God” step would be sufficient to prove one’s soul worthy of not being in Hell, with “Heroic Virtue” then being a VIP pass into Heaven.
Beatification and Sainthood then go on to show whether or not one can represent living humans in Heaven.
Sir, you may not be religious; but you show respect and understanding. Keep up the good work.
You should do a video on the saint "Jesus Malverde" he's the saint that all the cartel people pray to in mexico. They also pray to " la santa muerte" or in English it's "saint death" that would be another interesting topic
I thought santa muerte was deemed heretical by the Catholic church

Neither of those are considered actual saints by the catholic church. Malverde is a folk hero. And the way I understand Santa Muerte is that she is a folk god of death that evolved from an Aztec god. Still interesting though.

damn you beat me to it
My grandmother, who is a devout cathloic, would always say this little rhyme whenever she lost something, "St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please come around, something is lost and must be found." Supposedly St. Anthony would hear your pray and lead you to what you were looking for.
My aunty said that prayer a lot too
Pretty sure thats a summoning and not a prayer. Prayers are to god, summons are to shifty creatures you pay something to follow your bidding, in your grandmas case to find something.

It's kind of jarring to see a saint in a polo shirt and jeans (9:38 for reference) since we are so used to them in Byzantine/Medieval clergy clothes.
Even though Carlos died almost a decade ago, he's an example of the Catholic faith's future.
1:13 Snakes is most likely a metaphor for pagans 🐍
It is
I actually used to say that exact prayer sometimes when I was still Catholic! There’s tons of really cool saint trivia out there! I would definitely love more videos like this talking about them! :D
Damn imagine that most people here are older than Carlos and he gets to be a saint, what we doing in our life lol
He has been beatified because he loved Christ with all his heart and acted according to that during his lifetime. You don’t “get to be a saint”, being a saint is a conscious decision that one makes every day-a very difficult decision at that. The decision to love God fully, to maintain a contrite heart for your grievances against Him, and to treat all others as if they were made in the Image of God (because they were). None of us are made saints of our own volition, it is only through God’s eternal grace and mercy that we may ever hope to achieve that lofty goal of sainthood. Not for our own glory or pride do we strive for sainthood, but because ETERNITY depends on it. Memento mori.
You have to die to become a saint, so...
Well most people watching this aren’t dead I’m assuming so…
I'm the same age as him
Perhaps Isadore could be the patron of encyclopedias? Or libraries?

If you guys are interested in a weird saint story, here’s the story of Saint Agatha of Sicily. It’s WILD:
She was a 15 year old girl of noble status in Italy, and a man named Quintianus was interested in her. He often made advanced towards her, and asked for her hand in marriage. Agatha, however, wanted to dedicate her life to God. He was so angry that he reported her to the authorities for being a Christian. Quintianus at that point expected her to give in to his demands in exchange for her freedom, but she didn’t. With his power as governor of his district, he sent her off to be publicly tortured. She had her breasts ripped off her body with an oddly specific tool called “the breast ripper,” and was also whipped and burned with torches. She was supposed to be burned at the stake, but because of an earthquake, it never happened. Saint Peter came along to tend to Agatha’s wounds afterwards, but she soon died in her cell shortly after.
Damn
The Breast Ripper was my nickname in high school
So far that sounds like a usual saint story.

Im actually afraid that in some part of the internet, carlos might have sent some really scathing remarks to someone like: "Thou shall sucketh thy loin of mine whom greateth length than thou"
Sainthood is also known as "that person reached heaven", as simple as that. The thing is that the "final judgement" of one's life with God is so much intimate and personal that it's actually hard to verify if someone went to heaven or not just by publicly/socially knowing that person and calling it a good one in the matter (think about priests that went to assist poor people but in private he was a sexual predator that never got caught).
This is the reason why the catholic church has that many steps and tests to verify if someone really ended up in heaven or was just a good person to the public
