No one can “give” an eating disorder to a person. Yes, what she did was awful but Marley’a issues made her believe what Kitty said, so I think it’s a tie.

i mean, rachel does have an AWESOME voice, but we did listen so much of her, and i don't really get excited when she sings, as i do with santana, mercedes, quinn and the others....

THIS!!! He spoke in season six- “2009” the flashback episode. Mercedes does a voice over and she says, “I’m the only black student besides that Matt dude.” Then Matt comes and he says, “Hey Mercedes!” with an adorable little smile. Then she keeps walking (without turning around and acknowledging him), and says,“hey!” Matt truly deserved better.
Lmao Matt is the one dude who joined glee club at the same time as mike and was also on the football team. he was also absent the day the club did ballots so thats why Mr. Schuester had to sing with rachel

It would have been awesome. I loved the few moments the Glee cast interacted with the band. I don't even think they knew any of their names... well, besides Brad the piano man.
They did tinas character so dirty. she could've been a much more interesting character but by the end of the show she had turned into a warped rachel 2.0 Her character in the first season was so intriguing and I wish they wrote her character better. She deserved better. Her voice was also so under appreciated and I feel like she was never given the spotlight. She had so much potential but the writers completely wasted it :(

My unpopular glee opinion: Rachel and Artie should've been the two lead vocalists for the Male and female duets, because Artie's voice would've been so much nicer with Rachel's than Finn's, but that didn't happen only because Artie is in a wheel chair
Right? They kept mentioning they needed a guy who could keep up vocally with Rachel. I love Cory and his character but it's strange they made his character fill that roll since he was weaker vocally. I heard somewhere he had a lot more auto tune than the others. The showrunners made such strange decisions. Like casting an amazing dancer as Artie.

My unpopular opinion: although I like Santana's character, she was an awful bully to a lot of other characters and when anyone called her out, she cried and make excuses to treat people like garbage because "she's just being honest" being honest and cruel are different things. I like her development during the show, but I do belive that someone should have aknowledge her toxic behaviour in some way
I meam she is just being brutally honest, but sometimes she can take it too far but she is always there for every. Like that one time with Rachel bf, Santana knew something was wrong with the guy and wanted Rachel to have a guy who isn't gonna stab he in the back.
Exactly. santana made fatphobic comments towards Lauren.the de-slanting comment to tina, threatened to out karofsky, outed kurt to nd, and made fun of every character's insecurities. Example : rachel,sam,artie,finn. like i understand that rachel was annoying. but santana was a bully and ppl call her "yess such a queen",like???. I don't hate santana but gods I'm tired of ppl justifying her actions.

This! I never understood why people praised her. I dislike Rachel but honestly Santana was just as bad yet people call her a queen for her comments?? Like I know half of the people who watch the show definitely would not want to know her or befriend her irl... she was a bitch who constantly painted herself as a victim when she was being toxic towards anyone who breathed....
I deeply agree with the Rachel's one. Lea is really talented and somehow I get why that she had so many solos, but sometimes I was so exausted of listening to her. I am rewatching glee and I am skipping a lot of her solos.
The first few episodes of season one Rachel got me so pissed. You don't even know how much I wanted to punch her in the face for all the things she did or said. For example pushing Artie of the stadium, that was so uncalled for. Then she quit glee cause Tina got the lead role and Mr.Shue knew that Tina would be great for it but Rachel alway wants the spotlights and the leads rolls.
@@FandomOfMadness I think that was what the show intended at first because she had to learn how to share the spotlight and accept that there are people who can stand to her talent. She needed to take her head “out of the clouds” and her self absorption and realize that Glee club is collaborative. She definitely did progress in character development as the seasons went on. Though... we can agree that she was never ‘not’ Rachel. 😂

The faces the background extras make are my favorite part of rewatching Glee. Also the Rachel part is 100% true. Rachel has so many singing scenes (most of which are just her standing there and singing; I'm forever mad about the Booty Camp arc), her voice became just noise.
Honestly, I feel like Kurt should have stuck with the Vogue/fashion industry instead of staying with Nyada. It would have been a unexpected twist that could make a great storyline.
Unpopular Opinion: Blaine should’ve been bi because it would add so much more drama and character development for Rachel and Kurt. Edit: and all the other girls like Tina, who was madly in love with him, and Santana, who herself was little bit biphobic.
I agree!! I actually think it would have been great, both in terms of beefing up his character arc a bit, but also just in terms of the representation for bi guys and the fact that there IS still a lot of biphobia even among the LGBT community. And they were already going there with Kurt's biphobia, so it would have been more interesting I think if he actually had ended up being bi, and that was something Kurt had to work on with getting past his misconceptions about bisexuality.
One opinion that wouldn't be uncommon if people thought about it a bit is that Ryder's molestation was handled so terribly. It made me actually cry, like it's the literal fear of every male victim of molestation that people would say they should have enjoyed it. Even Mr.Shue, the righteous teacher, didn't make a small speech about it or educate the guys.
Shipped her more with Ryder idk why... maybe bc I felt like she wouldn't be so scared of him cheating or losing her V card with him... Liked Jake don't get me wrong but idk I felt like the show treated thee relationship weirdly

I was so sure they were gonna be friends and Sam was gonna step up to Marley's defense every time Kitty or anyone else bullied her. I also thought when Marley developed her eating disorder it would have led Sam to confess his own body and weight problems (which would have been better between them than for the dumb calendar) and lead to a duet about body positivity.

It makes me mad because when Sam is first introduced he’s supposed to be a closeted nerd who’s boy-next-door, but they just turn him into a stereotypical muscle head.

Vocally, sure, at the beginning I can agree Cory/Finn wasn't the strongest vocalist (though from an overall show perspective Cory was one of the strongest actors, so it worked well for him to play Finn :)) But I will say, I started really enjoying Cory's voice especially at Jesse's Girl, and by Paradise By the Dashboard Light he genuinely killed it! He grew SO much vocally, especially over the course of the first season

My unpopular opinion: Sugar Motta was a great character for how much time she was given. I think that she did have her moments (like pretending to have Aspergers), but she never truly set out to harm people, even though she could do so with her resources. She started her own Glee club so SHE could sing, bc she had the resources to do so, not bc she wanted to ruin the original glee club. She came from a rich family and was incredibly generous with her money, making sure that her friends had a good time and had everything they needed. Not only that, but she showed selflessness when most would feel offended, like when she was told to stand in the back and work her way up bc she was a bad singer. She just took it and did her part. I think she should’ve gotten more time and a truly underrated character.
TBH the Brittany and Mike one is true but they were good friends... Just in the background and it was cute and noticable but I would have LOVED a Mike and Brittany dance off tbth
I know, those newbies were so refreshing in how unique they were! As much as I came to love the dynamic of the ND of seasons 4-5, there's no denying the s4 new characters were purposely meant to be "v. 2.0"s of the originals. With the s6 newbies, they brought so much *new* character to the show, and also almost all had SUCH great voices! Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Head Over Feet is still one of my top favorite Glee covers

YES!! they did this so much to so many characters like for most of season one they gave dianna agron mowtown songs and her voice would get washed up and jenna ushkowitz when she would RARELY get a solo they would never fit her voice either when both of their voices are BEAUTIFUL

I was so annoyed when someone got a solo but it had to be the same song Rachel was singing somewhere else so they obviously had to cut between and make Rachel look really good with the high notes when it wasn’t even about her in that scene. Or when they did Grease for the musical and Finn and Rachel both just HAD to have flashbacks so they could sing again😑

Not specifically that one but a lot of times they would have Rachel have a moment somewhere else and sing a song that the other character was singing and made it a duet in a way where they switch between the girls. They could’ve had the song be sung by the character instead of mashing it with Rachel also singing it every single time
Another problem with Brittana is when Brittany tells Santana that she can’t just leave Artie, Santana calls him a stupid boy and doesn’t respect the relationship they have. Brittany was trying to be considerate to him, while Santana was kinda only worried about herself. Even though I know it was a big moment for Santana, it was a bit rude for her to talk about Artie like that and not consider how he would feel

I didn't even finish Season 4 or watch 5 except for the musical parts and some random scenes lol. I was so done with Rachel, Blaine, and the Props. But then Season 6 brought in a whole different group of Glee Club members that werent carbon copies of the og cast and it felt so new and fresh again that I watched again. Even Kitty felt different in this group.
I feel the same way you do with Rachel and her solos. I also feel the same way for Blaine and his solos. Don’t get me wrong I am in love with Darren and I love his voice (it’s top 3 for me) but he got SO many solos that I got kinda bored.
See, for some reason I never was bothered with the amount of Blaine solos- then again I'm biased because Darren has one of the prettiest voices ever to me and I can literally listen to his songs all day and not get bored 😂(it's not even that he's the BEST on a technical level- there's just something in how naturally bright and melodic his tone is that's the absolute prettiest to me haha.) But that said, it's not like I don't think Lea's voice is beautiful too- I do, and have from the early Spring Awakening days! I really think it was mostly because of the way the show *framed* Rachel as the be all end all of talent, and specialist snowflake of all the special snowflakes. That got on my nerves so much that by the end I was just over all the Rachel solos. Whereas with Blaine, yeah he sang a lot, but the show never positioned him as sooooo above everyone else in terms of talent. Plus, I think Darren's a little more versatile in terms of being able to jump around lots of different genres than Lea is :)
@@stephaniel2850 For me it wasn't Blaine singing that I disliked. It was the way he acted the second he moved to McKinley. His character just became so insecure about everything and often blamed Kurt for how he felt or the mistakes he made.
about the brittana i agree with you but you also have to remember they were in highschool. when they're adults, even with the break, i feel like they were much healthier and more mature about it.
Im glad someone finally pointed out how Brittany was also forcing Santana to come out of the closet. She should’ve understood that Santana clearly wasn’t ready to make that announcement
kitty had the entire newbies plotline on her back; marley's ed, jake's "love triangle", ryder's abuse story, her little romance with puck, etc, and then she basically saved the glee club on season 6.
Unpopular opinion I think Mike should have been in the car crash instead of quinn as it would have gave him more of a role And it makes sense since he loves to dance and we would of had a sad emotional moment where he thinks he will never dance again
Now THAT would have been an interesting storyline. Can you imagine how his Dad would have been all up in his business about "see dance isn't guarantee, you should go to a traditional 4 year college?"
i totally agree with your take on rachel's songs!! i often find myself skipping 99% of her solos because they make me feel like the episode is dragging (that and i feel like half of them don't really affect the episode all that much since it's usually just rachel emoting in some way)
Rachel's voice is great but it was so annoying how she sang songs that stylistically just didn't fit her voice (I'm sorry but we did not need a musical theatre belted cover of Only Exception by Paramore). Glee had such a talented cast with singers who had different tones, ranges, and styles and it is a shame that the showrunners didn't know how to play to their strengths and really dig into everyone else's gifts.
bro the Rachel one I agree SO MUCH especially when you put on take a bow, that was the first time I remember just skipping her song bc I was like ok... I did the same with firework and a bunch of other songs where its just her singing a boring Ballad like I don't care. its already criminal enough that you NEVER showcase Mercedes voice, pls don't shove Rachels voice down my throat. its actually shocking bc Rachel is so talented and they literally ruined her voice for me, it takes a special talent to be that bad of a producer on a show
agreed ! also i hated that if she didn't sing a ballad she would always have a solo part in a group number, like i loved Rachel as a character but sometimes just hearing her singing voice irked me.
This is actually a fair point. I still like Rachel’s voice the best out of the bunch, but the producers really did give her songs that didn’t fit her voice a lot. They really should’ve given everyone more chances to shine. I’m at the point where I love this show for what it could have been instead of what it actually is. That’s why I just read fanfiction instead of rewatching the show. Fanfiction fixes so many of the show’s issues.
Mike Chang deserved better! He was always shoved into the background and only brought out for some flashy moves and comedic antics. There should have been more focus on how he worked to improve his voice, and he deserved more recognition for how much he helped after he graduated (training the group and coming up with choreography). I think it would have been nice to see his storyline at the dance school!
Unpopular opinion: I really disliked Finn's character. He was so rude to out Santana like that and something about him was just wrong for me. Remember this has nothing to do with Cory Monteith. May he rest in peace 🙏🙏
Same here. They always described him as the leader and all, but he never really did much did he? If anything he was more hesitant to stand up to bullies than the rest of the football guys in a lot of cases.

Anytime someone became more popular than Rachel the writers would completely change their character to either make them close to Rachel or to make them a villain.
Tbh out of the unholy trinity Brittany is probably my least favorite, Quinn and Santana both have awful moments (worse than Brittany) but people always say Brittany was unproblematic when that isn’t true. She has tons of moments where she bullies other students and calls them names and you can’t make the excuse of “she’s just stupid” because she understands bullying enough when it is happening to her and calls it out.

My unpopular opinion: Rachel was actually a good character. She went through a lot of development and as much as I loved Santana, I actually agreed with Rachel more in their falling out. Santana crossed a line and she often does that. Rachel’s story of getting into Broadway, while predictable, was very inspiring for anyone wanting to do the same. And her losing Finn (first their relationship, then literally when he passed away) gave her so much growth. I found so many moments from New York and up where she actually gave good advice and did good things. But people who watch tend to summarize her by who she was during high school. She was faaar from perfect- I’m just saying she grew a lot and went from intolerable to actually enjoyable for me.
This is like a year late but I totally agree there. I remember seeing an episode in s5 where Rachel and Mercedes talk about Sam and their relationship and was like "oh that's pretty good friending there". Not sure how I feel about the Santana-Rachel kerfuffle with Funny Girl: I remember thinking Rachel was being totally obnoxious when I first watched it but now I'm sorta on the fence with who's in the wrong (granted I haven't watched glee in its entirety in AGES cuz I cherry pick episodes, so Idrk). Although Rachel quitting Broadway was still a horrendous decision and I can't help thinking they just wanted her in Lima for the next season and needed an excuse
i think for brittana, you’re right. i feel like the reason finn and brittany were forcing santana to come was because they thought that she wasn’t being herself and being true to herself regardless of what other think, which is one of the main themes of the show. that, of course doesn’t justify their actions or make what they did okay because you should never force someone to come out if they are not comfortable, but i think that’s why they did what they did.
I totally agree with the last one!! They had the opportunity to showcase and/or pair up different members and that could have made for interesting dynamics and storylines
I agree with all of these yesss. Tbh I skipped over so many scenes with Rachel because for some reason she was so unwatchable idk maybe they just did a really good job of making her the classic selfish character but it was so bad I felt like she never really came back from that or redeemed herself
Honestly, I was hoping Kurt, Puck, Tina, Artie and Santana would have more solos because I love all of their voices ❤️ and I was hoping for more Klaine duets because I love them ❤️❤️ You may not like Klaine, but they sound amazing together! 💓
if anything Santana was the one manipulating Britanny, she was basically using her stupidity to convince her to sleep with her at the beginning of their relationship
When I first watched it, I was kinda on the fence about the whole thing. I like that she had good intentions, but I feel like it was better off to give Santana some alone time, especially after Landslide/the rejection. I felt kinda bad for Santana, tbh. It's like, she puts her walls up with everyone else *but* Brittany, then gets rejected. And yeah, Britt did the right thing since she was in a committed relationship w/ Artie, but I'd think that she'd know (as a best friend) to leave her be for a bit. I think that Brittany thought it wouldn't be that hard, coming out and all, since Britt wasn't really in the closet to begin with; she states that she makes out with girls and guys in s1. So yeah, even though she had, like I said, good intentions, I thought that even though she was trying to help Santana accept her awesomeness, she didn't really help by urging Santana to wear the Lebanese shirt for the Born this way performance.

Unpopular opinion:I love how Glee has many problematic characters it shows that nobody's perfect I personally find that a bit realistic instead of a typical picture perfect character which is unrealistic
I often skipped rachels solos, especially her balads because i got bored of them. We constantly hear her voice and all she did was just stand there so it wasnt interesting to me
honestly we were robbed of a storyline with the band. or at least lil drummer boy and floppy haired bass kid. the only unproblematic glee characters tbh
I had trouble forgiving Santana and Kurt for their biphobia, honestly (although obviously that was more Ryan Murphy than anything) I really like your phrasing of Rachel/ Rachel and Finn songs-- they were never bad, just boring after awhile, because you've already heard them. I was surprised how much I loved Rachel and Santana duets, for example, because that didn't happen until S3, and it was still rare afterwards. I think I would like a Brittany/Mike storyline if I trusted Ryan Murphy and the writers with their characters more. It felt like the only time Brittany got a spotlight was when she did something stupid, and Mike only had one legit storyline that wasn't propping up someone else's. Solid opinions overall-- nice insight

i skipped loads of rachel’s solos because she had about 5 every episode and it was just some drama about her lusting after finn, and sometimes i hear them in playlists and didn’t even realise glee did that song.
mine: brittana didn't really have chemistry ooh and another: the little irish kid was the single least problematic teen character, mostly because he was there for five seconds

drummer boy was so polite, he was just happy to be there, he was always involved and you never see him frown. But after everything he did for the glee club, he learned how to play a bunch of songs, he let fin goof around on his drums, he even stepped in and preformed with them. Tha writers still never bothered to give him a freaking name.

I am not calling anyone out but a bunch of people are talking about how toxic some of the characters are. Santana was made to be rude because of the way she was raised (and the inner lesbian anger when she was closeted), Brittany was not trying to be rude and out Santana she was trying to make Santana more confident coming out when she was pushing her (Fondue for two she meant something totally different), she wanted her to know that she was there for her. Not a bunch of people like to think about how toxic Rachel and Finn were but that was because they were overlooked by Santana and her snarky comments. I get the hate on characters but don't hate on actors for saying their lines how they were written.
Honestly, all of these are pretty solid opinions. I too thought people like Tina and Quinn didn't get enough musical stuff. And Kitty really grows on you over time. She became a favorite of mine by the end of the show

Mercedes does a voice over and she says, “I’m the only black student besides that Matt dude.” Then Matt comes and he says, “Hey Mercedes!” with an adorable little smile. They did tinas character so dirty. she could've been a much more interesting character but by the end of the show she had turned into a warped rachel 2.0 Her character in the first season was so intriguing and I wish they wrote her character better. She deserved better. Her voice was also so under appreciated and I feel like she was never given the spotlight. She had so much potential but the writers completely wasted it :(

My unpopular glee opinion: Rachel and Artie should've been the two lead vocalists for the Male and female duets, because Artie's voice would've been so much nicer with Rachel's than Finn's, but that didn't happen only because Artie is in a wheel chair
Right? They kept mentioning they needed a guy who could keep up vocally with Rachel. I love Cory and his character but it's strange they made his character fill that roll since he was weaker vocally. I heard somewhere he had a lot more auto tune than the others. The showrunners made such strange decisions. Like casting an amazing dancer as Artie.

My unpopular opinion: although I like Santana's character, she was an awful bully to a lot of other characters and when anyone called her out, she cried and make excuses to treat people like garbage because "she's just being honest" being honest and cruel are different things. I deeply agree with the Rachel's one. Lea is really talented and somehow I get why that she had so many solos, but sometimes I was so exausted of listening to her. I am rewatching glee and I am skipping a lot of her solos.
The first few episodes of season one Rachel got me so pissed. You don't even know how much I wanted to punch her in the face for all the things she did or said. For example pushing Artie of the stadium, that was so uncalled for. Then she quit glee cause Tina got the lead role and Mr.Shue knew that Tina would be great for it but Rachel alway wants the spotlights and the leads rolls.

She needed to take her head “out of the clouds” and her self absorption and realize that Glee club is collaborative. She definitely did progress in character development as the seasons went on. Also the Rachel part is 100% true. Rachel has so many singing scenes (most of which are just her standing there and singing; I'm forever mad about the Booty Camp arc), her voice became just noise.

I actually think it would have been great, both in terms of beefing up his character arc a bit, but also just in terms of the representation for bi guys and the fact that there IS still a lot of biphobia even among the LGBT community. And they were already going there with Kurt's biphobia, so it would have been more interesting I think if he actually had ended up being bi, and that was something Kurt had to work on with getting past his misconceptions about bisexuality.

One opinion that wouldn't be uncommon if people thought about it a bit is that Ryder's molestation was handled so terribly. It made me actually cry, like it's the literal fear of every male victim of molestation that people would say they should have enjoyed it. Even Mr.Shue, the righteous teacher, didn't make a small speech about it or educate the guys.

I was so sure they were gonna be friends and Sam was gonna step up to Marley's defense every time Kitty or anyone else bullied her. I also thought when Marley developed her eating disorder it would have led Sam to confess his own body and weight problems (which would have been better between them than for the dumb calendar) and lead to a duet about body positivity.

Vocally, sure, at the beginning I can agree Cory/Finn wasn't the strongest vocalist (though from an overall show perspective Cory was one of the strongest actors, so it worked well for him to play Finn :)) But I will say, I started really enjoying Cory's voice especially at Jesse's Girl, and by Paradise By the Dashboard Light he genuinely killed it! He grew SO much vocally, especially over the course of the first season

My unpopular opinion: Sugar Motta was a great character for how much time she was given. I think that she did have her moments (like pretending to have Aspergers), but she never truly set out to harm people, even though she could do so with her resources. She started her own Glee club so SHE could sing, bc she had the resources to do so, not bc she wanted to ruin the original glee club. She came from a rich family and was incredibly generous with her money, making sure that her friends had a good time and had everything they needed. Not only that, but she showed selflessness when most would feel offended, like when she was told to stand in the back and work her way up bc she was a bad singer. She just took it and did her part. I think she should’ve gotten more time and a truly underrated character.

I know, those newbies were so refreshing in how unique they were! As much as I came to love the dynamic of the ND of seasons 4-5, there's no denying the s4 new characters were purposely meant to be "v. 2.0"s of the originals. With the s6 newbies, they brought so much *new* character to the show, and also almost all had SUCH great voices! Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Head Over Feet is still one of my top favorite Glee covers

Another problem with Brittana is when Brittany tells Santana that she can’t just leave Artie, Santana calls him a stupid boy and doesn’t respect the relationship they have. Brittany was trying to be considerate to him, while Santana was kinda only worried about herself. Even though I know it was a big moment for Santana, it was a bit rude for her to talk about Artie like that and not consider how he would feel

I didn't even finish Season 4 or watch 5 except for the musical parts and some random scenes lol. I was so done with Rachel, Blaine, and the Props. But then Season 6 brought in a whole different group of Glee Club members that werent carbon copies of the og cast and it felt so new and fresh again that I watched again. Even Kitty felt different in this group.

I feel the same way you do with Rachel and her solos. I also feel the same way for Blaine and his solos. Don’t get me wrong I am in love with Darren and I love his voice (it’s top 3 for me) but he got SO many solos that I got kinda bored.
See, for some reason I never was bothered with the amount of Blaine solos- then again I'm biased because Darren has one of the prettiest voices ever to me and I can literally listen to his songs all day and not get bored 😂(it's not even that he's the BEST on a technical level- there's just something in how naturally bright and melodic his tone is that's the absolute prettiest to me haha.)
But that said, it's not like I don't think Lea's voice is beautiful too- I do, and have from the early Spring Awakening days! I really think it was mostly because of the way the show *framed* Rachel as the be all end all of talent, and specialist snowflake of all the special snowflakes. That got on my nerves so much that by the end I was just over all the Rachel solos. Whereas with Blaine, yeah he sang a lot, but the show never positioned him as sooooo above everyone else in terms of talent. Plus, I think Darren's a little more versatile in terms of being able to jump around lots of different genres than Lea is :)

i totally agree with your take on rachel's songs!! i often find myself skipping 99% of her solos because they make me feel like the episode is dragging (that and i feel like half of them don't really affect the episode all that much since it's usually just rachel emoting in some way)
And all she does is stand there doing some hand movements. Doesn't really excite you, tbh
Rachel's voice is great but it was so annoying how she sang songs that stylistically just didn't fit her voice (I'm sorry but we did not need a musical theatre belted cover of Only Exception by Paramore).
Glee had such a talented cast with singers who had different tones, ranges, and styles and it is a shame that the showrunners didn't know how to play to their strengths and really dig into everyone else's gifts.
bro the Rachel one I agree SO MUCH especially when you put on take a bow, that was the first time I remember just skipping her song bc I was like ok... I did the same with firework and a bunch of other songs where its just her singing a boring Ballad like I don't care. its already criminal enough that you NEVER showcase Mercedes voice, pls don't shove Rachels voice down my throat. its actually shocking bc Rachel is so talented and they literally ruined her voice for me, it takes a special talent to be that bad of a producer on a show
agreed ! also i hated that if she didn't sing a ballad she would always have a solo part in a group number, like i loved Rachel as a character but sometimes just hearing her singing voice irked me.
This is actually a fair point. I still like Rachel’s voice the best out of the bunch, but the producers really did give her songs that didn’t fit her voice a lot. They really should’ve given everyone more chances to shine. I’m at the point where I love this show for what it could have been instead of what it actually is. That’s why I just read fanfiction instead of rewatching the show. Fanfiction fixes so many of the show’s issues.
Mike Chang deserved better! He was always shoved into the background and only brought out for some flashy moves and comedic antics. There should have been more focus on how he worked to improve his voice, and he deserved more recognition for how much he helped after he graduated (training the group and coming up with choreography). I think it would have been nice to see his storyline at the dance school!

Same here. They always described him as the leader and all, but he never really did much did he? If anything he was more hesitant to stand up to bullies than the rest of the football guys in a lot of cases.

Anytime someone became more popular than Rachel the writers would completely change their character to either make them close to Rachel or to make them a villain.
Tbh out of the unholy trinity Brittany is probably my least favorite, Quinn and Santana both have awful moments (worse than Brittany) but people always say Brittany was unproblematic when that isn’t true. She has tons of moments where she bullies other students and calls them names and you can’t make the excuse of “she’s just stupid” because she understands bullying enough when it is happening to her and calls it out.
my unpopular opinions: finn had the worst male voice in the glee club, and i eventually got bored of blaine's voice since he sang so much (although i think darren in general is talented)

My unpopular opinion: Rachel was actually a good character. She went through a lot of development and as much as I loved Santana, I actually agreed with Rachel more in their falling out. Santana crossed a line and she often does that. Rachel’s story of getting into Broadway, while predictable, was very inspiring for anyone wanting to do the same. And her losing Finn (first their relationship, then literally when he passed away) gave her so much growth. I found so many moments from New York and up where she actually gave good advice and did good things. But people who watch tend to summarize her by who she was during high school. She was faaar from perfect- I’m just saying she grew a lot and went from intolerable to actually enjoyable for me.
This is like a year late but I totally agree there. I remember seeing an episode in s5 where Rachel and Mercedes talk about Sam and their relationship and was like "oh that's pretty good friending there". Not sure how I feel about the Santana-Rachel kerfuffle with Funny Girl: I remember thinking Rachel was being totally obnoxious when I first watched it but now I'm sorta on the fence with who's in the wrong (granted I haven't watched glee in its entirety in AGES cuz I cherry pick episodes, so Idrk). Although Rachel quitting Broadway was still a horrendous decision and I can't help thinking they just wanted her in Lima for the next season and needed an excuse

i think for brittana, you’re right. i feel like the reason finn and brittany were forcing santana to come was because they thought that she wasn’t being herself and being true to herself regardless of what other think, which is one of the main themes of the show. that, of course doesn’t justify their actions or make what they did okay because you should never force someone to come out if they are not comfortable, but i think that’s why they did what they did.
I totally agree with the last one!! They had the opportunity to showcase and/or pair up different members and that could have made for interesting dynamics and storylines

I agree with all of these yesss. Tbh I skipped over so many scenes with Rachel because for some reason she was so unwatchable idk maybe they just did a really good job of making her the classic selfish character but it was so bad I felt like she never really came back from that or redeemed herself
If you watch the full show, you can see that through the selfishness. You can see a different character, conflicting with her selfishness.

When I first watched it, I was kinda on the fence about the whole thing. I like that she had good intentions, but I feel like it was better off to give Santana some alone time, especially after Landslide/the rejection.
I felt kinda bad for Santana, tbh. It's like, she puts her walls up with everyone else *but* Brittany, then gets rejected. And yeah, Britt did the right thing since she was in a committed relationship w/ Artie, but I'd think that she'd know (as a best friend) to leave her be for a bit.
I think that Brittany thought it wouldn't be that hard, coming out and all, since Britt wasn't really in the closet to begin with; she states that she makes out with girls and guys in s1. So yeah, even though she had, like I said, good intentions, I thought that even though she was trying to help Santana accept her awesomeness, she didn't really help by urging Santana to wear the Lebanese shirt for the Born this way performance.

I really like your phrasing of Rachel/ Rachel and Finn songs-- they were never bad, just boring after awhile, because you've already heard them. I was surprised how much I loved Rachel and Santana duets, for example, because that didn't happen until S3, and it was still rare afterwards.
I think I would like a Brittany/Mike storyline if I trusted Ryan Murphy and the writers with their characters more. It felt like the only time Brittany got a spotlight was when she did something stupid, and Mike only had one legit storyline that wasn't propping up someone else's.

drummer boy was so polite, he was just happy to be there, he was always involved and you never see him frown. But after everything he did for the glee club, he learned how to play a bunch of songs, he let fin goof around on his drums, he even stepped in and preformed with them. Tha writers still never bothered to give him a freaking name.

I am not calling anyone out but a bunch of people are talking about how toxic some of the characters are. Santana was made to be rude because of the way she was raised (and the inner lesbian anger when she was closeted), Brittany was not trying to be rude and out Santana she was trying to make Santana more confident coming out when she was pushing her (Fondue for two she meant something totally different), she wanted her to know that she was there for her. Not a bunch of people like to think about how toxic Rachel and Finn were but that was because they were overlooked by Santana and her snarky comments. I get the hate on characters but don't hate on actors for saying their lines how they were written.
Honestly, all of these are pretty solid opinions. I too thought people like Tina and Quinn didn't get enough musical stuff. And Kitty really grows on you over time. She became a favorite of mine by the end of the show
