I feel like this comic is more then deserving of a movie or a tv series adaptation, because this was such a fun and intense read, more people should have a read of this book
Thanks! I can agree with what you’re saying. That section where Sam reflects on how other families were affected by her killing was chilling and seeing her come to that realization was an interesting piece of her story for sure. Thanks for checking out my video!
I think the point is that she just doesn't care. Psychopaths don't have empathy and so cannot give consideration to the feelings and pain of others if it doesn't affect them. I think Sam is probably one of the best example of a realistic psychopath I've seen in fiction.
i'd love to see an anthology series spring from this comic, given the fact of how Sam and Nigel were able to sneak around everyone so easily with so little clues left behind i wouldn't be shocked if there's more serial killers lurking about their world waiting to run into each other or just cause a bit of mayhem wherever
@@ComicDrops I’d find the notion of someone related to one of Sam’s victims, having become a serial killer/obssessed with hunting for who killed their loved one, seeing Sam in the news or in the paper and getting suspicious would be interesting grounds to explore the consequences of what Sam has done and exploring more of her past kills over the last 40 years
I highly recommend the limited run series "Welcome to Hoxford", which follows a criminally-insane prisoner, Ray Delgado, as he's transferred to a new jail with a dark secret.
@@ComicDrops And for a bit more content, a group did a fan-made video of the first portion of the story - some characters get dropped, though, as they didn't have any budget to go further than that, and it's surprisingly well-done given the limited resources!
@@ComicDrops very true, there’s such a contrast and such a dark thought that even subconsciously we as humans weigh the loss of people in certain lights. The Good Samaritan death vs the old man who couldn’t confirm where he was, it’s such a powerful thought that the comic brings out
The thing that comes to mind after reading this comic is the ending to an episode of the Twilight Zone that I saw back in the day: It involves a seemingly ordinary woman going shopping only to find out she is one of the mannequins having come to life. An odd connection to make but the ending narration is what ties it to Beneath the Trees: Just how 'normal are we?" What is really going on with the people we say our Hellos and How do you dos? What do they do behind locked doors and drawn blinds? Hopefully it's not serial killing. But I think more people than we care to admit (ourselves included) have our own versions of bodies buried in the forest. Parts of ourselves we don't want others to see. Partly to keep us safe from persecution but also because they are ours and ours alone.
Very astute! I think that’s why Sam is so relatable because we all have what you explained in your comment. I remember seeing that episode of the Twilight Zone, but I need to go back and watch it to make the connections with this.
@@ComicDrops It's basically about a team of dogs (and some cats) that fight supernatural horrors like witches and werewolves and other ghosts n killers. Be prepared for some tearjerkers.
another comic that I find similar would be Beautiful Darkness both in coloring style and the theme of underlying viciousness, even though the plot isn't that similar
I just read it all and pre-ordered the paperback after this- what a ride. As for other comics that gave me a similar feeling of dread mixed with these visuals- I would highly recommend “Beautiful Darkness”.

I can agree with that. It caught me off guess for sure. It certainly was an amazing read!
@@ComicDrops speaking of Copycat killer reminds me of the movie with the actress played Alien.

@@ComicDrops 😓 "Copycat" with the actress in "Alien" movie.
@@selenagarcia-gamache566 Oh, gotcha. Didn’t understand what you were referring to originally.
Loved the video only thing i wish the comic explored more was how sam viewed how her kills effect the families and lives of others. Great video 🐻

This is the most messed up Teddy Bear's Picnic I've ever been to.

Ugh the first kill with Marvin, just so vicious I love it but also despise it
I think that’s the overall feeling of the entirety of the comic. We’re torn between despising what we’re seeing and enjoying it as well.

The dark subject matter and the animals also reminds me of the "Beasts of Burden" series. Check it out if you haven't already.

No problem! Thanks for checking it out. I think I’m going to start working on collecting the variant covers. There are some awesome ones out there!

I've heard that there's a prequel story in the works

You’re correct. I realized that after making the video. I was hoping no one would notice.😂😂😂😂

I would tend to agree.
I think Sam should have been male, especially considering an overwhelming number of serial killers are men, with very few women.
That fact is certainly true!
I kind of thought it was a great take since it was a difference from the normal
It's supposed to be a kid stuffs!
