Another great test. HST just performs. That .45, wow, almost a full inch of expansion!
Good rounds, both.
As usual, another outstanding test, Az. Brother, you have more than proved that the HST round is the king of the hill in self defense chamberings.
Hell yeah 45 kicked ass. Just bought those +ps glad to see they perform nicely. Great vid thnx bro
3.5" 45 ACP with a 230 grain bullet..... low expectations. Boy was I surprised, that +P round really performed out of that 3.5" barrel. The 40 S&W performed great. Both are great options. Thanks for another perfect test!
Absolutely excellent. Very well done as always. These are the top shelf.
The 45 wins in almost every metric in this test over the 40. The advantage the 40 has is capacity and penetration by a little bit. It performed fantastic. The stills again reveal the difference. The final expanded recovered bullet is very obvious who "wins" there. Over 93 caliber....very impressive. This is in our 45s. The 40 expanded excellent also. I will be putting these in my 40s shortly. FYI we got low 900s with these in our 3.3 Shields and 0.87" expansion in water jugs with 45. Huge thanks.
.45 doesn't normally win. .40 can carry a pretty significant energy advantage in most cases. .45 is on par with it in the lighter weights and +P
@@bobjones-bt9bh They seem to be very comparable in many ways I believe.
I am a 40 guy mostly. But the 45 doesn't decrease in size and with the HST and similar bullets the expansion is very impressive. Both are great options.
Stay safe and carry on.
Great test. It's good to see you mixing things up. I love my 10mm and 357 Sig. But I like pretty much all calibers, even the 380. 😎
I love the hst thank you ❤❤
.40 Gang Gang! I’m literally carrying that 165gr HST .40 ammo now 😂!
Great test! Love the HSTs
Why is there, that there's always that guy flying around who thinks he's a jet fighter pilot in a Piper Cub! 😂
As an aside, as expensive as it is to maintain any airplane these days-even a bugsmasher as noted-that guy can play walter mitty as much as he wants to. It’s hella loud INSIDE the plane too fyi. He’s out there living his best life…..just like AZ is vicariously for us watching this glorious video! 😂
Excellent presentation! Very good information!
Great results
Another absolutely amazing video! Ty sir!
Thanks for the data!
Good test. I prefer the HST's.
Another great test!
Another exciting review to see!❤
Thanks
That expanded 45 ACP looks like a baby tarantula! Waiting on my G30 gen 5 as we speak, this is GREAT info to have, thanks so much for your content!
Thanks for another great real world demonstration....
We really appreciate you videos and information.
Good video 👍
OK, gonna comment before watching. Been waiting on this one!
HST 🥇🏆
So both give similar results, ie high confidence that either round will deliver effective results for self defense.
Further confirms that my 40sw would be quite good enough. Dont need the 45.
🇺🇸🤟🏼🙏🏼👏🏼👍🏼🤠
Thanks for the Video 👍
.40 usually wins on energy but these rounds in .45 are actually delivering. Recent test I saw had the std pressure in short barrel below 800 fps! Not sure what is going on with Federal.
not bad.
more great testing ...
@@richki.24 Thank you buddy!!
Slow mo shows you blinking after every shot
357Sig, 40S&W and 10mm made 9mm and 45AARP obsolete a long time ago.
Well yeah, clearly you can see that .45AARP is obsolete...Who in the Hell would want that performance demonstrated here except some Fudd, anyhow?
Yeah looks pretty obsolete to me😮😅
@bayouknivesandoutdoors501 Yeah it took 14 rounds of 45AARP to take down a criminal a few years ago by an LEO....gel blocks do not represent reality.
What are you smoking
🤡
@nicholasroberts9618 na sigs a hot round but very limit in ammo so ill pass. 40s just a watered down 10mil so i pass on 40. 10mil and 45 is my choice high velocity big holes. I keep 9mm because you can find ammo anywhere. All day
.45 +P is just different
💯
I have a couple questions. So I carry a 40 S&W with a 4.2 inch barrel, and currently carry the 180 grain HST. In your opinion, which grain HST would be more beneficial with my handgun's barrel length between the 180 grain and 165 grain HST?
Second question is, I also carry a shield S&W Shield 45 in .45 ACP which has a 3.3 inch barrel and I'm looking to get some HST rounds for it for Carry. Which version of the HST for the .45 would you think is most beneficial for my short-barreled Shield 45? I was leaning towards the 230 grain +P?
@@brucecook502 Really a preference and they both perform great but I'm more of a higher velocity guy and would go with the lighter grain. And for the .45 the +p version is awesome and will help get a lil bit of that velocity back that ur loosing with that shorter barrel.
I typically carry 180gr as well, although I've been looking at the remington 155gr sd load they offer, it claims great speed and 500+ ftlbs of energy, I need to find a gel test of it and see if it's all they claim.
@@wymonwatson1309 I have definitely seen Factory defensive loads for the 40 S&W that appear to do a heck of a lot more damage in ballistic tests than the 180 grain HST I carry, but I'm not necessarily looking for the most devastating ammunition, the performance of the 180 grain HST, at least for me with the handgun I carry is sufficient enough 🙂
@brucecook502 Yeah, like I said I have been using the 180's as well, but I'm thinking the 155 may not only have more energy on target, I believe it would also have less recoil, not that .40 has bad recoil in my opinion, but less is always better for accuracy when a fast follow up shot is required. But yeah the 180's are definitely good, I actually took a deer with a .40 at 80 yards with a 180 and it was way more damage than I expected, a frontal shot to the chest exited near the back of the ribs and tuned the heart and lungs to a shredded mess, the deer fell down on the spot I was very impressed, and that was just a winchester white box 180hp.
@@wymonwatson1309 I can't remember exactly which defensive ammo it was but it was within this past year I seen a video featuring some particular lighter grain defensive load for the 40 S&W that delivered a heck of a lot more trauma to ballistics gel then the 180 grain HST I carry, and the math dictated that it delivered over 500 foot-pounds of energy. That was pretty impressive considering I'm just satisfied with the hsts that I use only deliver around 400 foot-pounds of energy coming out of my 4.2 inch barrel of my Taurus PT 24/7 40 S&W. I think I remember the Liberty civil defense defensive ammo did quite a bit of damage. I I think I remember they were something like 55 grain or 80 grain in 40 s&w that could hit almost 2000 FPS out of a Duty sized handgun, plus the nose of the bullet is more rounded so that could add to a little more reliability with feeding.

Stop being so fragile and offended by literally everything
No, don't stop saying it. I like hearing it. It's kind of his thing, the way he says it, is fun.
