Very true. I was just thinking that. Pushing 70 and the guy is still showing the young ones how it's done. I've been listening to Joe for 30 plus years he's always stayed true to his craft no matter what the musical trends are.
This song really loves me in a way that you wouldn’t guess. It was 1987 and I was in a disastrous marriage. Moved out into a small studio apartment. Barely survived financially and hiding from the rent man more times than I’d like to remember. But I did take my stereo system with me. I managed to buy the Surfing With The Alien cd. Listened to it over and over. I’m 62 now, retired, became successful and promoted numerous times at my work providing for my lovely wife of 35years and myself a generous retirement life. Hearing this song takes me back to that time.
It's crazy when you think of it like that, the time I mean, how fast it goes by, and boom you're retired. We humans don't get it when younger but wisdom comes w age
@@metalheadwhoplaysgames1826He will get it figured out on those VH songs . You have to realize that when those just came out most of those were his first time trying to play them and by ear and not using music tab to read the notes and bar changes . Each guitar player no matter who they are has their own tone and tone is created by your fingers and how you pick . You could take Eddie or Joe here and have them play your guitar tuned to the song and use your amplifier and your effects and you would still be able to tell the 2 apart because the tone is in your fingers and picking techniques. Like Ted Nugent said in the song Free for all the magics in my hands tonight and it's a free for all and he's meaning the sound and tone comes from his hands and fingers which it does .
I remember hearing Summer Song on a Sony Walkman TV commercial back in the ‘90s. It inspired me to buy my first guitar and learn how to play. Joe just keeps sounding better and better!
I miss Eddie Van Halen. Joe brings back that “hit the ground running” spirit I love so much! Joe pairing up with Sammy, Michael & Jason makes me so happy! Can’t stop listening to this over & over!

Dudes reaction at 1:47 was exactly like mine . Incredible hammer on no strumming there ! . Dudes nearly 70 and still absolutely nails it . Legendary satch!
Unfortunately it doesn't, some people are just talented and naturally better at things than others, a 7 year old could learn to play this but could a 70 year old master ever write it?
@@BillBlazejowskiIt's Boogie Woogie, big band swing, from the 40's, played on distorted guitar, instead of horns. It's the music they celebrated with after WW2
Remember hearing it fir the first time, driving out if a parking lot and had to stop in the middle of the road to give it my full attention, just insane , what a guitarist.. what a memory , 🙏thank you Joe 😎
This is the song that I'm driving to , way past the speed limit , going down the highway like a speeding bullet the cops are like forget catching that one thanks Joe for surfing with an alien !!!👍🎸🔥💯...😢 Still listening in2023 and beyond !!!
Joe Satriani es uno de los mejores guitarristas que hay en la actualidad. Cada album que saca es innovador y creativo tiene mucho talento para crear acordes y solos que revolucionan en la forma de tocar la guitarra. Gracias por compartir este material.
I had just joined the USAF, and I think Surfing... was my 2nd actual CD purchase, after a teenage life of cassettes. My first CD was Def Leppard Hysteria. What a great time to be young.
This series of song by song videos in art galleries is effing epic!! I.credible to have these. Rivals any live concert footage since it's just an intimate setting with incredible sound. Thanks for doing this.
I’ve been listening to this song for 35 years but just now realize (because of this particular performance) that Hendrix’s influence is all over this song. Amazing!
Met Joe back in 2018 at G3, went on stage checked his gear out with his techs, then watched an entire G3 show with Petrucci and Co. I'm going to the grave one happy MF!
Lol !! So true. Joe, I hope you see this comment. You are the Magic ! You take people on a wonderful Musical adventure. Thanks for being a super Alien 👽 ❤
I saw Joe do this song ( and many others) way back in 1987 in concert at the Adler theater in Davenport Iowa , he is as amazing now as he was back then 👽👽👽👽👽 👍👍
Nearly 70 and still absolutely killing it. He’s so cool. Timeless.
Man, didn't realise he was that old. He looks great.
Out of this World 🎸👽❗

I played in a band back in the 80s when this came out, and we played this song. Good times!
67! Doesn't look it either, looks 40
They don’t call him the “professor” for nothing. Simply outstanding, as always.
Professor Satchafunkilus!!!
Only one professor and that neil peart
Always great to see and hear Mr. Joe Satriani playing this beautiful masterpiece. Cheers.

Bought this album when it came out. Never gets old!
Raw, articulated brutality.
Grandpa showin the kids how it's done. One of the all time greatest classics. The 80's will never fade.
This guy makes NO mistakes. Absolute legend.
yes that is the fact that always shock me, in a live event , no mistake even with a speed and very difficult song !! Masters are Masters 🙏🙏

I STILL play this album from time to time. Incredible piece of work.
Further proving that Mr. Satriani is a LEGEND.
One of the great guitarists we were able to grow up with
You can tell Satch absolutely LOVES what he’s doing!! Amazing talent.
This is great. This is an anthem of guitar adrenaline that has been with me since I was a kid.

Summer Song is GREAT! Maybe even better than SWTA. Just love the groove there.
Absolutely love everything Joe plays!😊
That was better than the album version crazy!

I LOVE JOE SATRIANI!!!
This entire album takes me back to my "YOOT"
Thank you for posting!
Joe’s damn near 70 yrs. old and still shredding, it makes me wonder if the guitar keeps us young?
I should get back to playing then. Maybe then my hair grows back.
Wait…

Joe is probably over two hundred years old but every time he picks up a guitar his age goes backwards one day
Maybe. I'm 70, play bass and don't look a day over 50

He's a true master of his instrument 🎸. Can't wait to see him and Vai in April!
Same! Ive seen them both separately several times. Gonna be great!
Lucky bugger!! Wish it was world tour but Vai has just finished a world tour
Same here. I've seen Satch a couple times, but it will be my first time seeing Vai in person.
I want to see them too, but work always get in the way!

I used to absolutely crank up surfing with the alien in my car on the way to high school!
Joe is still a beast!

Actually Joe recorded it when he was 31 years old in 1987.
I Wish he comes to Italy just to enjoy watching him... I literally grew up listening to his groove
It never gets old! He's so damn good it's thrilling 🤘
This brings me back!!! Love how he plays it the same.
There are so many great things about Joe and this video. Such great and subtle use of the wah pedal.
I'm so glad this video came up after i watched 30 seconds of a tech metal guitar playthrough which had me bored to tears. Satriani ftw
This is the song that introduced me to Joe.
I just love this tune. He’s unbelievable.
He's still an incredible beast . What a master, he plays as fluid as ever. I love that album
