It deals 100% damage to the main target, 33% damage to the 2nd target, and 11% damage to the 3rd target. So "9/3/1" for each attack bounce. - Getting +1 attack brings your base damage to 10. It's not enough for the damage of the 2nd or 3rd hits to increase. It becomes 10/3/1. Only at +2 attack does it become 11/4/1. (33% of 11 is 3.63 which is enough to round up to 4.) Even at max upgrades, the third bounce will never do more than 1 damage. - Getting +1 Armor will reduce damage taken by Muta bounces by a full 1 damage. So a base damage Mutalisk will do 8/2/0.5 damage. (You take 0.5 points of damage if your armor is higher or equal to the attack. It is impossible to take 0 damage aside from MISSED attacks.) - If the opponent goes +1 attack and you go +1 armor: Their 10 attacks do 9/2/0.5 to you, while your 9 damage attacks do 9/3/1 to them. - TLDR: Getting +1 armor instead of attack is better because it affects all 3 hits received (almost) equally, whereas +1 attack only boosts hits 2 and 3 at 33% and 11% effectiveness. So if it's +1 armor mutas vs +0 attack, the damage is reduced from 9/3/1 to 8/2/0.5. And if it's +2 armor vs +0 attack, it's 8/1/0.5. And a third upgrade reduces it to 7/0.5/0.5. So actually, instead of the first upgrade reducing dmg by 3, the second by 2, and the third by 2, it's really that the first reduces dmg by 2.5, the second by 2, and the third by 1.5. I would be interested to find out if a unit's HP has to be reduced all the way to 0 to kill it, or if reducing the HP below 1 is enough. I don't recall ever seeing a unit with 0 HP, and it wouldn't surprise me if for instance a unit at 0.25 HP died. I know WC3 works this way.
If it works like in AoE2 which I highly assume at this point (same rounding method) then the unit dies with anything below 1hp (which would shown as 0hp, if you could see it, but well the unit is dead so you can't). Basically the unit with 2hp shows with 2hp, with 1.99hp it shows as 1hp. But then you can damage it for another 0.99 and it would still show with 1hp, kinda like a bank of hp. If however it goes to 0.99hp it shows as 0hp and is from the engine point of view 0hp (with a 0.99hp bank) but 0hp = dead so the banked up 0.99hp are useless. If its true what you say then starcraft does basically the same but with 0.5hp steps
@@StriKe_jk In WC3, units die at 0.405 HP or less when taking damage, or 0.400 HP or less when losing life from negative regeneration, but HP less than 1 is rounded up on the HUD. You never really know what calculations are going on behind the scenes.

I similarly have two games that have been really close to my heart for 20+ years (Worms Armageddon & Heroes 3), and it's safe to say I know them inside out. Every quirky bit of game mechanics, every stat, every little titbit there is - you don't really need all this to play but it's just so interesting to know everything there is about how the game you love works. Kinda occurs naturally over so many years.
Jaedong has finished military service guys. Queen took 1-2 years to get back to the top after the army, wonder if Jaedong will choose to play again and how it goes for him.
He isnt really done with the military service yet. His service is officially over in December, he is technically having a 2 month vacation (having all the cancelled vacation days this and last year due to covid summed up together). So he cant really participate in any asl or streamings without authorization until this December.
I'm so grateful that gameplay like this exists for everyone to watch! I never would have thought that a 90s sci-fi game would have so much replay value. What an epic game.
Okay, that's how muta bounces and armor really work. The minimum damage any attack can do is 0.5. The simplest way to test it is to attack a neutral egg with zergling. Every 2nd attack will do 1 damage to an egg. So the first armor upgrade reduces total damage from a hit by 2.5, second - 2. There is also one interesting thing about armor is that it applies before damage scaling from armor type. So for example vulture has 20 attack and tank has 1 armor. Vulture will do not 4 but 4.75 damage to a tank because of it.

I used to have a 6 armor ultra (from the natural 1 armor) vs 0 attack marines from the AI and marines slowly drains by 1 if like 3 are shooting an ultra it’s weak but still small damage

Remember, back in the day Zero and Soulkey were both on Woongjin and developing Hive tech ZvZ. Hoping to see some form of that today, probably one of the most interesting ZvZ matchups other than something like Soma vs Jaedong.
This match had everything!! Late game Zerg, weird builds, and insane micro!! And obviously, the best casters ever, 1:10:10 part when they whisper had me.
Spoiler: What a great series! Soulkey showed some great play, and even though he didn't win I felt like he backed up his talk well. I never got the feeling that his confidence was unfounded. He had some fantastic strategic ideas.
After ASL season 10, Afreeca stopped doing productions for Broodwar in English due to cost and lack of ROI. It wasn’t just Artosis and Tasteless, but the entire department got let go or shuffled around depending on specific employment contracts/skill sets. Artosis and Tasteless where able to negotiate with Afreeca where if they could crowdfund the production costs, that Afreeca would be willing to host the content and send them VODs of the streams after the fact to have ‘official’ ‘aftermarket’ English content for the ASL tournaments.
Despite losing, I think SoulKey’s play in game two was brilliant. He hid his mass build up of Lings until after Queen had committed to the fight up the ramp, so when Queen turned around to head back home his Ling count was too low to do much of anything.

Artosis doesn’t play ums I guess, when your unit has the same armor as the attack value is the only time it will alternate 1 to 0 damage. Strangely if you have more armor than the attack it will always take 1 damage. So yeah getting 2 armor will bring back the third glaive bounce but it’s worth it since it lowers damage from the first two.
That’s not true though, damage is always a minimum of 0.5hp. So at that point it would take 2 hits to see 1hp be removed from the units health. Keep it mind Armour is only part of the equation though, as Damage Type also effects the numbers.
@@disiesgroto1881 damage types isn’t an issue when talking about a 1 damage attack ie the third glaive bounce, a muta with 1 air armor will alternate taking 1 0 damage from the third glaive, a 2 armor muta will always take 1 damage but again it doesn’t matter since the first two attacks get reduced, what I was referring too doesn’t happen much in vanilla sc since armor rarely reaches the attack power it’s a funny quirk to see in ums though

Despite losing, I think SoulKey’s play in game two was brilliant. He hid his mass build up of Lings until after Queen had committed to the fight up the ramp, so when Queen turned around to head back home his Ling count was too low to do much of anything.
Zerg Versus Zerg is the most boring matchup imo, but these two pro's made it fun to watch, great match.

Artosis doesn’t play ums I guess, when your unit has the same armor as the attack value is the only time it will alternate 1 to 0 damage. Strangely if you have more armor than the attack it will always take 1 damage. So yeah getting 2 armor will bring back the third glaive bounce but it’s worth it since it lowers damage from the first two.
That’s not true though, damage is always a minimum of 0.5hp. So at that point it would take 2 hits to see 1hp be removed from the units health.
Keep it mind Armour is only part of the equation though, as Damage Type also effects the numbers.
@@disiesgroto1881 damage types isn’t an issue when talking about a 1 damage attack ie the third glaive bounce, a muta with 1 air armor will alternate taking 1 0 damage from the third glaive, a 2 armor muta will always take 1 damage but again it doesn’t matter since the first two attacks get reduced, what I was referring too doesn’t happen much in vanilla sc since armor rarely reaches the attack power it’s a funny quirk to see in ums though
