- Rian got a call from a well know Queensland racing driver, Gordon Clough, about a car that he had decided to put to auction. We drove out to Gordon's house and were presented with an immaculate VN SS Group A Commodore that Gordon had purchased new in 1990. Gordon showed us the car and shared a bit of his history with the car.
The car is completely original and unrestored and in near perfect condition. It comes complete with all logbooks, paperwork, documentation and even a service book.

what did this sell for ?
What a car! Drop Dead Gorgeous
It is the VNSS (in Atlas Grey) and VNSS Group A that inspired my love of Aussie performance cars. Great to see such a wonderful example and would be sad to see it go. I have owned an AUXR8 for 20 years and can't bear the thought of getting rid if it. Have also had a VYSS wagon for about 13 years and can't imagine letting that go either
not bad, 300%+ return for a car second hand. just needs a good details to get rid of all them swirls.
My favorite is the anti-static strap.
The "must have " car accessory of the late 80’s to early ‘90’s . I wonder if anyone recommends them for EV’s these days? 🤣
Must be like losing a best mate getting rid of it. Good on ya Gordon for looking after her. 👌
What a tuff car...
Why would you let it go after having the car all this time🤯🤯🤯keep it in the family
Tough*
Beautiful car...they 5ltr vn is a very economical V8 i get around 10-11 kays per 100 in mine if i dont keep putting the foot down to hear it roar 😁
What did see for ? ?
Just discovered this channel. It’s a real good channel👍
I have a 1989 APV group 5i been my daily driver for 25 years and had over 400,000km on it.
Still clean and running well.
Cars are made to be driven 💪🏼
Absolutely amazing car. Can you guys invest in a few microphones to cancel out the traffic noise?
That there is my dream car as a kid
Funny when you go back and think about it, it doesn’t seem so long ago.
Even the original black foam is in the A/C Line! Great Car Gordo!!
Saw him dropping doughnuts in the local industrial estate
As beautiful and rare as it is, I would love to sit a 3rd gear standstill in it 😊
I owned 3 VN V8s, loved them. Almost bought a VN Group A replica but was only a V6, so I got BT1 V8 instead. Wish I didn't part with them...miss the noise and performance. Just drive Mazda 323 1.6L now haha
Sold for $201,100
Definitely something very special about an immaculately-kept vehicle.
Like it? We love it!

The next car down from the ss group A was apparently the SVLE vn 304 👍

Dammm nice...
Very nice example, but pity these were slow as fuck. Probably would have made an additional $50-100K if it was up for sale during the pandemic...
vc commodore is the blue series motor and they had the pollution gear on them. choked the motor up and gave pretty bad fuel ecconomy. i had a vc 4.2 v8. the red motor was better , pre pollutuion in the kingswoods and toranas . beautiful car love the vn group a always have.
The quadrajet on the blue 4.2 made the engine so much better than the little 2 barrel Stromberg on the red 4.2.
@@obiemichaels9675 Ive had both and found the red motor had more power even with the 2 Barrell Stromberg.
@Chris-xu6wy you must have had an absolute dud then. The electronic ignition, the four barrel carby, so much better. I noticed a massive difference when I fitted rotchestor to my red 253 and the blue motor ignition with no other changes. I've had heaps of them and they were a lot better
He could always sell it to me
Been saving his girl for her next boyfriend 😅
And the next boyfriend is saving it for the next boyfriend so on this is a historical collector car not your mums suv daily lol
The only nice VN
@@kimboDragon Forgot those two 😂.
What about the SV5000 ?? 🤔
@@paulsz6194 Sorry mate I forgot all about it. The Sv89 was pretty tasty too.
I never understood not driving a car cos u dont want to add ks its like not rooting ya misso so she's in better condition for the next bloke how stupid
A car is not a misso tho lol
if you have a love for a car and its a rare one you would understand. drive it a bit but not much else you'll root it like ya missus.
