You know what the worst part of the movie is? This is gonna reinforce the idea in teenagers that they need to be in charge of a company by the age of 24 and if they dont it will hurt their feelings.
True, and this isn't talked about enough. Hollywood needs to stop spreading this idea that if you aren't in charge of a company in your early to mid 20s, you're a "loser". Being an assistant for a famous celebrity is a much more impressive job than the jobs most 24 year olds have.

The topic of Netflix content was actually recently talked about amongst film/tv crew. I quote someone's comment, "Netflix has bought just any content they can get their hands on, their library is absolutely flooded with content nobody wants to watch and now they are in a lot of debt." Consequence of their own making. This is what happens when you keep dishing out money on the same ideas already out there, do it poorly, and refuse to invest in innovation; resulting in an abundance of high quantity, low quality.
Makes sense on why they have been releasing game shows one episode a week like it’s the Game of Thrones or something. They seem desperate to keep subscribers.
Zack and Nicole don't look human the uncanny vibes makes it hard to watch this, normal people wouldn't be attracted to faces that are altered that much.
Amazon Prime has "The Idea of You", so Netflix has "A Family Affair." Similar concepts with Older Single Mother, Younger Famous Man, that happened to come out within over a month of each other!
I had the same thought. Like this is gonna be ALL of our romcoms for a while - young dudes hooking up with someone’s mom. Not just older ladies. Specifically someone’s mom. Bc that’s a good way to drive conflict…I guess?
and it really higlights how less is sometimes more the idea of you is very cheesy, but its a romcom, and romcom done right, it wont win any awards, but if you are up for watching a romcom that tells you exactly what i is, its near perfect for that, and it does its job exceptionally well but this is... just a pile of garbage, a complete mess, no direciton or main point, and in comparison to theidea of you, no beauty in its simplicity, and my God definitely not beauty in its complexity or nuance to contrast the idea of you
I’m really angry that they removed like eleven seasons of NCIS, like I loved those seasons. I literally stopped at season 14 because I just couldn’t watch the rest.
I found it cute but predictable. maybe because i liked Zac in the end even though i couldn't really believe him in the " a--hole boss" role ... and it did make me chuckle at the "his skin is so close to me! eww" and her puke sounds. So that's that😅
I couldn’t help but think so much of the movie looked incredibly low budget camera quality wise, like Joey in the car at the start was jaw droppingly bad
Isn't that what most movies look like now? They strip away the color and personality of films they just look like they were shot on an iPhone with the lowest sounds and dimmer brightness. They all look like ads.
How is it that Zac Efron looks almost the same age as Nicole Kidman, when he’s still in his 30s and she’s almost 60! It seems like just yesterday when he still had a babyface and was acting in teen movies. I’m not shading Zac, but Nicole looks great, they both look like they’re in their 40s.
You right about Efron's face. Its tragic. Same thing happened to Starlight on that show "The Boys", Hollywood convinced them they weren't good looking enough
Why do people always put the fault in "faceless industries"... hollywood is made up of actors, they are the ones who push beauty standards. The fact that they themselves feel the pressure that they created does not take their responsability away. People need to start being accountable for what they do

Was going to say, how the hell would an assistant that gets coffee ever expect to "move up" to being a producer? Like imagine some school grounds keeper thinking they can do it for a year and then be given the principals job. Of course then I remembered ex assistant leslye headland did just that and was put in charge of 180 million star wars tv show. What a crazy place Hollywood is
It's pretty standard procedure for a lot of corporate industries tbh. Being an assistant not only gets you a foot in the door, but it also puts you in the ideal position to network since you're going to be rubbing shoulders with people who generally have more pull. Not only that, you also get soooo much exposure to all sides of the business and end up becoming a mini COO in your own way if you play your cards right. It's super easy to use that to move up in the world, especially since being an assistant is essentially just a project management job in its own right.
@@shadypalmtree2989 an assistant is NOT a project management job. You can wish that, but doesn't make it so. If you can go from assistant to something like producer etc. It means that the higher level job is total bullshit.
@@nedflanders4158 I said it essentially is. As in, it has the hallmarks of many project management roles. People also seem to have a very basic idea of what an assistant does and don’t seem to understand that it’s usually more than just grabbing coffee or making copies or scheduling meetings. A lot of them are more involved and take on outside projects while also juggling the above. Just like how project management changes across industries, so do assisting across industries and even within companies. It’s a very versatile role that a lot of people underestimate because it’s what the assistant and whomever they’re supporting make it.

How's this girl offended that her boss is mad that she's 2 hours late to work? it wasn't even like he said to be here at 4am... it was like 8:30am or something, it wasn't unreasonable at all. And picking up his stuff from his ex's place? It's not like he's asking her to break up for him... I've seen that before in some books were they have actual a-hole bosses, this one is just pick up my things... like a personal assistant would do.
OK, because you read of bad bosses means you know what approotar or not? The boss was wack, and I think it's weird people are willing to defend him but not the employer. It's honestly funny to read a comment like this. People think they can access it as a boss or manager. Do you think being late is worse than involving your employee in a romantic affair??? Yeah the late part was weird but it also looked like she was stuck in traffic when they were on the phone. Also for the picking up his stuff from his exes. But why did the actors agree unless they were paid big bucks? As a non US Netflix sub who doesn't watch US content, Netflix has 3 times world subs as US/Canadian combined and I'm beginning to think I'm subsidising HW content over the content I do watch and I'm not happy about it. It's no wonder they hide the real view figures so we won't find out.

This feels like a mini series that was cut into a movie. Could've made this a 6 to 8 episode show to flesh out all the characters and keep deep into the story. They could've made it a commentary on how people in their 20s think they need to have everything all figured out before they're 30, because social media. This is a Hallmark style movie, which Netflix always had, the ones from other countries are usually pretty good. The difference is stars decided they wanted the easy Netflix money.
Zac Efron looks like a double of David Hasselhof. The same excuse Zafron used about his weird change we had to be reminded of during the movie. In case we would get distracted.
Netflix loves to punch out these garbage movies with over inflated budgets but won't give other quality works a second thought before pulling the plug.
Zac Efron hasn't ever had any plastic surgery, at least not the kind you're likely referring to or any type of *elective* procedures. He did have to have some reconstructive plastic surgery to repair a badly broken jaw after sustaining an injury at his home. He had to have his jaw wired shut for some time and undergo a bunch of physical therapy and such after the procedure. Efron has admitted that he slacked off on the PT/OT quite a bit due to his schedule at the time (which also involved production for this film) which unfortunately led to the injury healing improperly without the guidance of consistent PT/OT, resulting in excess swelling/inflammation and accumulation of scar tissue. Ultimately this caused the affected musculoskeletal structures to compensate on their own leading to the misalignment and the odd appearance of his facial structure. It should also be pointed out that "the camera" tends to add about 5 to 10 years to one's appearance in general. Furthermore this piece in particular was rather abysmal from a technical perspective, being so horrendously shot and composed, very poorly lit throughout, and absolutely heinous from a makeup perspective. All actors have to endure a sit in the makeup chair regardless just to make them appear "normal" onscreen. Whoever was responsible for the makeup for this production was either really green or just downright incompetent, if not both. Just seems to further illustrate the Netflix pattern of cutting corners and rushing productions in order to churn out new shit content seemingly entirely for its own sake... At any rate these factors certainly play a role in making Zac appear a bit more aged than he actually is. Plus I mean there's something to be said about a life in the limelight and the stresses that accompany such a lifestyle... The psychological and physiological stressors of that existence tend to cause celebrities to begin showing their age far sooner and more dramatically than the everyday average schmuck.
@@Moco_Cork1 alex literally says so in the video so at least one other person believes that 😭😭😭😭 the other problem was steroids, which does not have to do with plastic surgery
A good litmus test for maturity is to have someone watch this movie. If they sympathize with Zara and think her being essentially fired was unfair, they're not mature.
What is the message of this movie? Honestly, they could have dived more into the father passing away, and the affect it took on their family etc. I was frustrated because honestly, the only main plot is that Zara is super upset about her Mom sleeping with her boss, and RIGHTLY SO! My god, the way everyone around her made her feel like crap about it, when her feelings are completely valid. And it just felt so gross to mention about a parent passing, only for them to sweep it under the rug and not take it seriously at all.
The other HSM cast members are around the same age as him or older, but they all look much younger than him. Lucas Grabeel (aka Ryan Evans) is almost 40. He's older than Zach yet looks two decades younger. Zach had a lot of surgery that caused him to look older than he actually is. He's still young.
The mum's entitlement to dating her daughters boss was the worst thing. I couldnt get past the date. Maybe Zara got worse after that, but no. If the mum was dating ANYONE else, i would agree, but i thibk it's very reasonable to not want to see your awful boss at the Christmas dinner table!
According to Efron he broke his jaw running through his house while wearing socks, slipped and caught his jaw on a granite fountain. It nocked him out. He had to have it wired shut and underwent physical therapy which he skimped on during filming for his forgotten docu series, thus his jaw muscles had to compensate and swelled up
Please, don't tell me that it's an actual explanation, that he is using for... Whatever chad-like faced accident he had?! It's on the same level as "my dog ate my homework bullshit."
Efron claims his whole jaw was like completely shattered, and he lost control over the inner muscles, whatever they're called, so the outer muscles just kinda grew because they were doing more to compensate (but also probably some juicing too, let's be real).

Zack and Nicole don't look human the uncanny vibes makes it hard to watch this, normal people wouldn't be attracted to faces that are altered that much.

Of course then I remembered ex assistant leslye headland did just that and was put in charge of 180 million star wars tv show. What a crazy place Hollywood is
Look at the woman making the new Star Wars acolyte. She started out as Harvey weinstein’s assistant and now she has her own show.
@joker9494949494 yes her name is leslye headland. I mentioned her in my comment.

Damn, Zack got old , and probably older after the plastic shit 😂

4:09 Stupidly enough, as a 24 year old, I feel the EXACT same way for some reason.
I really beat myself up about it to sometimes
I love Alex’s videos because they always have bacon 🥓 ads or shorts with the videos ❤
According to Efron he broke his jaw running through his house while wearing socks, slipped and caught his jaw on a granite fountain. It nocked him out. He had to have it wired shut and underwent physical therapy which he skimped on during filming for his forgotten docu series, thus his jaw muscles had to compensate and swelled up
🤦🏼♀️
in 2013.
Please, don't tell me that it's an actual explanation, that he is using for... Whatever chad-like faced accident he had?!
It's on the same level as "my dog ate my homework bullshit."
you look like the type of person thats dumb enough to believe that
ur the only TH-camr where whenever I hear 'but before that really quick' (knowing ur getting sponsored) I get so proud of how far you've come!!
Elijah Wood looks exactly the same he just has some gray hair.
I can't get over how much Zac Efron looks like Rob Lowe now
You're funny. I needed this vid. The humor made me forget about my anxiety for a bit.
After almost 6 years. It finally comes out. Poor Zac man did not deserve that.
You might need to rephrase that to "Netflix live-action movies" are getting worse, cause I don't think they really have bad animated movies.
I mean Netflix has cancelled a lot of animated shows so it's not that too farfetched...
That's Zac?!?! Good lord😅😂
I agree he looks really different.
Efron claims his whole jaw was like completely shattered, and he lost control over the inner muscles, whatever they're called, so the outer muscles just kinda grew because they were doing more to compensate (but also probably some juicing too, let's be real).
Zac looks like he inhaled the Joker gas and his face has remained stuck ever since.
to be fair, your mom dating your boss sounds like a horror show
