- Mike Sigel and Earl Strickland, two Hall of Famers who reside in the “Greatest Players of All-time” category met again in 2017. The game was One-Pocket during our “Living Legends Challenge” which featured a variety of disciplines. What’s unique about this video was that both players were mic’d so all of us could hear them as they expressed their emotions while at the table. At that time, Mike was 63 years old and Earl was 55.

Mike did take forever to shoot. I had to fastforward so many times. Gets down on the ball - gets back up. Makes me crazy. LOL
Great shooters who are not all that familiar with one pocket tend to shoot it slow.
@@redringofdeathgamer - Mike can be notoriously slow. I think it's a mental game on his part to frustrate his opponents.
These 2 could set 1 pocket back 175 years in this one match.

Watching Mike Sigel, is much like watching Charlie bryant, Mike wong, Ralph suquet..... you get the point.
I once played a notoriously slow player in a apa league match. Everyone dreaded playing this guy. He was not only painfully slow but also cocky and extremely rude to beginner players. What made it worse he was actually a very good shooter.
So we start and he takes 2 to 3 minutes measuring up his first shot.
When I get to the table I think I can do this too.
The longer he took between shots, the longer I would take. It drove him crazy. I would see the obvious best shot, get down to shoot then stand up, walk around, analyze shots that I’d never shoot, count the rail diamonds, calculate, go back to the obvious shot then….. hum …. think about it some more.
If he took 2 minutes I’d take 3. When he took 3 I’d take 5.
He started to fidget at first…. then started to fume.
After the match he told me that I got lucky.
I said, …. Maybe a bit, but every time I allowed you to come to the table I made you shoot a shot that I have noticed you always struggle with.
If someone talks while you shoot, talk louder.
If someone talks smack, go bigger.
Not sure if APA league allows such behavior, but if so, the best thing you can do is to give those guys to taste their own medicine.
It is very effective, plus it is incredibly satisfying to observe those guys how disgusted they are by eating their very own stuff.
Watching Earl struggle is fun. Love it when that guy is unhappy.

At 40:30 why can't Sigel hit the cue ball off the bank, opposite side of the two ball (right long rail if you're standing at the foot of the table), and kick back to bump the two ball closer to his pocket side? Wouldn't that avoid the foul?

Trash talker vs. trash talker. Earl once again shows his colors when he loses. Had he won, he probably wouldn't have mentioned anything on the time Mike took at the table.
at the end of the video i agree with earl sigel took a lifetime to make a shot and that's the way he plays trying to distract his opponent...i wouldn't play with mike without a time clock

IT HAS never been agreed on which of these 2 guys were better.....some say Sigel was the best ever in is prime others say earl was.......that is why there is tension here.....my bet is neither earl or Mike would be totally comfortable saying they were better than the other

Rules are often taken too literally, but remember the "spirit of the rule". If we went by the rules literally, the game would never end. Every shot would raise objections.🙂

@@9BallBory Years ago I went to SBE when Mike was selling his cues. I had not seen them before and I was looking at them and he told me that I couldnt afford them. I own Balabushka and Szamboti cues. The stupid people that bought his cues for $3-5K cant unload them for $1K now.

I could only tell because they _did_ state above that it was One Pocket, er, three times and probably hundreds of times during the commentators observations. Also, during the entire hour and twenty minute match it was bannered at the top of the screen!
