- Slow Quad Draw Tool in Autodesk Maya - How to Turn OFF Construction History
Ok, this is a really quick video to show you one possible reason why you are dealing with a sluggish quad draw tool in Maya. Quad Draw saves construction history on the entire mesh for every click you make while working. One solution is to delete history on your mesh every 2 minutes, but that gets really annoying after a few times.
My solution: I am going to show you simply how to turn off construction history in Maya. This allows you to work on your retopology without the quad draw tool becoming unbearably slow and laggy.
This is only one tip to speeding up a slow quad draw tool. There are plenty of other solutions out there, but this allows you to not have to delete your history every couple of minutes.
One more tip: Delete your UVs while you are working on the model.. You are going to have to re-do them anyway because you are changing things.
Anyway, I hope that was helpful in speeding up your workflow with the annoying slow quad draw tool in Maya.

still doesnt work when mesh is a medium poly
You could export your dense model as a GPU cache, then quad draw over that
@@SquamashiiTutorials I've tried that, but when generating a single quad with shift click it still takes forever. I have to retopo dragging edges from the existing geo, if u get what I mean.
