Reconsider your position - This is the most accurate summary of his DM style. At times you can't help but wonder why there's even players at all, why he's not just reading us a story so it can 100% go the way he wants it to go.
You guys roll into the village like uniformed cops with the lights and siren blaring on the squad car going to all the villagers: "Nothing to worry about we're just looking for criminals. Are you a criminal? No, OK. Have you seen any criminals. No, OK. Why are we getting nowhere with our investigation?"
The way the villagers talk about the wine 'its good for your soul/aches and pains' etc could be interpreted from an outside perspective and word of mouth as a 'healing potion' of sorts. I would have asked the mayor if the village priest always had those boils. Possible physical effects due to intense exposure to the mushroom. Unlikely, but worth pursuing, as it is low risk. A common theme throughout this campaign would be people commiting what could be argued as heresy, but they have moralized themselves into believing that they are doing nothing wrong, you know, kind of like real life. One should expect to encounter very few people acting in bad faith, and if you do, they are probably large characters on the stage. The red mushroom with white spots on it is definitely aminita mascaria, or at least a reference to it. There is a strong case that can be made for the idea that the psychedelic wine is heretical. The 'poem' the mayor's wife babbled at the end of the session was 100% heresy. The village priest being put out of commission by grief and medicating himself out of his responsibilities with the psychedelic wine is heresy. The potential emergence of a psychedelic ideology poses a threat to the hegemony of the church in the same way that the Pendely Abbey Marxist's ideology does, only instead of a manifesto being the means to propagate the ideology, it is the wine. People from outside the town come there specifically to acquire the wine and it has gripped the local populace to the point where it is used and abused by the primary authorities (priest and mayor). The angle of being able to justify the groups harsh investigation tactics is also useful, but it doesn't need to be the primary consideration in declaring the town to be heretical. The psychedelic wine is clearly heretical as it poses an emergent threat to the church's ideological hegemony. The town's authorities are deeply under the psychedelic wine's influence, the peasants seek it out at any given opportunity, and those involved in its production are secretive and protected by the town's inhabitants. He’s very inconsistent. From his motivations on paper, as a person who uses inquisitions to gain status, he should be desiring to rise through the ranks of the inquisition by burning a whole village for consuming heretical wine. But he seems to have grown a sense of compassion for peasants who literally hold no value for his advancement save as sacrificial lambs.
Vee spent more time complaining about the grooming kit then it took to buy it. Also Vee is bribing everybody, sin sin sin. Oh and starting a forest fire. Sin Sin Sin Sin Sin Sin. That’s also how my DM does 3.5 spells, if you got 4 1st spells you can cast burning hands 4 times. Just easier that way.

The polygon reveal is literally right next to the drag box reveal in the fog of war menu as a GM. And the LoS is a simple sheet option, right below setting the size of the map, while the drawing of lines is an additional menu option in the draw tool. All if this is clearly tooltipped. Just don't forget to turn on global illumination when you enforce the LoS mechanic so you don't have to fiddly with token sight ranges. Happy now?

As a roll20 player and GM, all the stuff is right there in the UI and with a little exploration you can do even more. Since Sargon tried his hand at game design, I wouldn't think something like this is above him. If he isn't using it, it's because he can't be bothered, or he has some good reason for it. (Although it beats me what that could be).
Since they seem unsure, the Biblical principles that form the basis of modern Christian anti drug, alcohol, tobacco, etc positions: the body is the temple of God, it's a sin to desecrate or harm the temple that is your body. Also the drunkenness thing that Sargon mentioned. More than small quantities of alcohol and most drugs and tobacco cause harm, so there ya go. Back in those days, they might not have made that association yet, but the drunkenness thing would certainly be a factor.
Now, this reminds me of my first RPG round ever. You have two guys that just do everything and totally dominate every conversation and action while the two others are basically "just there". It's the Vee and Arch Adventure and Devo and Uzalu get to occasionally chime in when Sargon forces the plot (which he should) to do so. I wouldn't even mind if Arch's character wasn't such an unbearable asshole. I bet Uzalu will get cucked on his own sidequest. Sargon, when someone is lying, its Deception, not Persuasion.

investigation is really the hardest part of D&D because the DM is the players sense. sometimes when you think the clue is obvious, but is not because their perception is filtered to you

DM may not know everything about a subject, so might give false clues accidentally. like, the question of help with winemaking, and the production. then, perhaps the exact toxicity of Fly agaric. vee jumping to the conclusion of addiction. Something Sargon didn't shut down.. so, does sargon know its not? just psychoactive?. 2. but, then Sargon is also giving out tons of false flags. on purpose? "heals the soul" etc. one second, "ok, they are just stoned", the next, hes saying shit like that in a cult-like manor.

Sargon hates the alignment system, so no character really uses it in his games

Considering how many handicaps Uzalu had due to his party members, I would say he handled that quite masterfully.

Now, this reminds me of my first RPG round ever. You have two guys that just do everything and totally dominate every conversation and action while the two others are basically "just there". It's the Vee and Arch Adventure and Devo and Uzalu get to occasionally chime in when Sargon forces the plot (which he should) to do so. I wouldn't even mind if Arch's character wasn't such an unbearable asshole. I bet Uzalu will get cucked on his own sidequest.

investigation is really the hardest part of D&D because the DM is the players sense. sometimes when you think the clue is obvious, but is not because their perception is filtered to you

DM may not know everything about a subject, so might give false clues accidentally. like, the question of help with winemaking, and the production. then, perhaps the exact toxicity of Fly agaric. vee jumping to the conclusion of addiction. Something Sargon didn't shut down.. so, does sargon know its not? just psychoactive?. 2. but, then Sargon is also giving out tons of false flags. on purpose? "heals the soul" etc. one second, "ok, they are just stoned", the next, hes saying shit like that in a cult-like manor.

Arch being purposefully insufferable is both the best and worst thing.

I think, back, when they were starting the game, that they can't roll a warlock due to the setting. I don't know if PCs are barred or there are no warlocks in the entire setting.

Addiction is partly in your mind. There can be no physical drawbacks to not taking something you're psychologically addicted to, bug you'll still be bugging out.

Professor Doctor, while not the same, addiction is addiction. And predominately physical addiction types often have a certain level of psychological addiction. On the other side of the spectrum, you have cocaine and amphetamine types which have predominately psychological addiction with practically no physical addiction.
