These comments about Casi are kinda creepy, she's an A.I. so she's nothing but a computer program. Not to mention if she was real, she'd be probably a similar age to Spike which is approximately 10 - 15 give or take. I'll just let that sink in.

Personally, I prefer the original. There's a reason it was designed for TWO analog sticks! Also, I live in Australia, where we use the British dub of Ape Escape, and the original game is the only one that let us use the English character names! Seriously, you could boot up Ape Escape 2 for the first time, make the assumption that Katie (Natalie's European name) and Natsumi were completely different characters, and no one would blame you!
Yeah, in retrospect, while they did a decent job at trying to streamline the game's controls for the PSP, it's just not the same--the dual-analog setup was what made it all worthwhile. (I'm surprised they never made any Ape Escape spinoffs for the Vita)
Yeah, it's pretty much the Sony equivalent to Super Mario 64 DS: they ported a critically acclaimed console platformer to a handheld without considering the limitations of that handheld.

Well, the biggest problem with DS was, it didn't have an analog stick. You could only move in eight directions, which is fine for games with a fixed camera like Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 3D Land, but just doesn't work for a sandbox game. There is a joystick on the touchscreen, of course, but virtual buttons just aren't the same as real ones. The player needs physical feedback from their actions.
@@DrRank I just kinda got used to the D-pad, honestly. I rarely used the analog stick for PS1 games (the ones that supported analog control, anyway) when I was a child, so this came to me naturally. It's definitely not the "best" way to handle Mario running around in large 3D environments, but it can still be fun once you adjust to it.
