I joined Jason Miller to learn The Finer Points of Mountain Flying. We hopped on the AOPA 2022 Sweepstakes Grumman Tiger to fly in the High Sierras, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen from the air. Join us through mountain passes, valleys and snowy peaks as I experience the effects of density altitude, mountain waves and more, along with some of the most spectacular footage I've ever captured. Enjoy!
And when you're done, make sure to check out Jason's video of this same trip: / thefinerpoints

It was a pleasure to have you with us Bruno! I can't wait to do it again on the Canyons trip 🙌🏻
I had the BEST time ever, Jason! Thank you for your amazing hospitality, leadership and approach to instruction. I came home a better pilot! Looking forward to the Canyons trip next year!
hope to do this one day!!!! looks awesome!!!
It was totally worth it, man!
Dang, the owner of a Cessna 185 wins the Grumman Tiger? Life is definitely not fair. :D
I know right?! haha He's a super nice guy!
Hoping the weather in Tahoe cooperates this weekend for my mountain checkout.
So kind of Alex to lend you his Tiger. It's definitely spectacular scenery around there. I'm in SoCal but don't take my Tiger up there nearly enough.
Alex is the best! And you should definitely check out this place, man. Most beautiful flying I’ve ever done!
Bruno, we do the "Hudson Corridor" flights and say that's beautiful, but these flights are SPECTACULAR ! Natural mountain valleys and peaks WOW what a view.
I agree, Daniel! The Hudson SFRA views are amazing, but nothing beats the beauty of Nature 🏔️💚
Looks like a blast!
Time to plan for next year.
I was just practicing touch and gos at Alpine County two days ago. With a crosswind it gets a bit sporty! Glad you got to experience the beauty I fly in every time I get in my plane. Being based in Minden has its advantages.
Oh man, you’re lucky indeed! Wish I could fly around that place all the time. M45 is fun!
So jealous!! Definitely a bucket list item !
It was mine too, I could finally check it off ✅
That's so sick
Thank you!
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
This looks so fun!! Definitely a bucket list item now 😄
I highly recommend!
Dang your landings are on pointe!
Thanks, man! 🙏
Definitely on my list of things to do! Thanks for sharing.
I highly recommend! Beautiful place to fly!
Great video Bruno, thanks 🤙
Glad you enjoyed it, Damon!

Thank you, Joe! Glad you enjoyed it!
This was really fun to watch!
Thanks Kaylene, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks man!
Great video Bruno, I’m doing the mountain camp this June, Peter Lert will be my instructor in my Bellanca Super Viking, maybe I’ll see you there
Thank you, Matt! And you’ll love the trip-and Peter! He’s an amazing pilot & instructor. Have fun, I wish I could come!
Nice Video, flying through mountains is so much fun! I can't imagine a better place to fly, even though the sea and beaches are great too!
Alps?😊
@@Postelnikov Yes, indeed! 😃
Flying in the Alps is on my bucket list!
@@FlyWithBruno If you interested in Mountain flying I couldn't recommend more to pass MOU training in France. I just finished my new training round in Megeve. Some of the most fun you can get in aviation. Imagine lend on 250m runway altiport on 8000 ft elevation. No go around procedure, only one direction possible. Precision and power management. Also fancy places like Courchevel. Megeve. And in winter they land on glacier with skies. There are one of the best pilots in the world. Yous should try this!
But still my next goal to fly to Alaska and to train with that guys as well.
Well done. Tip - Sierra = mountains in Spanish. It's already plural. No "Sierras." Fly on! Beautifully done. I grew up near Bodie about 4 miles north in Bridgeport, CA.
Thank you for the tip! The more you know :) Glad you enjoyed the video. The Bodie area is spectacular, so beautiful! I’m hoping to be back there sometime soon.
Very nice! I feel stupid for not getting the N716ER tail number until just at the end of the video. 😳
Haha it took me 3 days to get it (after I was flying it 😂)
Great video! How do you think your Cheetah would have performed compared to the Tiger?
Thanks, Scott! And great question. I came home wondering the same. Even with all the mods, the Tiger struggled at times… You need to be really humble with Nature in these conditions! I do want to bring my Cheetah here next year, we’ll see!
Come out to SLC sometime I'll take ya flyin!
It’s on my list!!
We talk about the dangers of mountain flying; Trapped lee waves, rotors and up/down drafts but I see piston airplanes flying around the rockies and back country flying - how?? Its so turbulent and dangerous so how are airplanes able to fly in the mountains, or even over them but they make it out. I'm so nervous to fly over ANY mountain or large "hill", just curious how I can get over that
I hear you. And I think, like everything else in Aviation, it’s all about practicing and flying often in these conditions until you feel comfortable and it becomes second nature. I don’t get to experience mountain flying out East, so this was a humbling and inspiring experience!
Try flying this in a sailplane!
I bet it’s awesome!
I didn't know it counted as a BFR... so yeah it would be irresponsible to NOT do this.
Yes one more reason to come next year!
What kind of plane?
