Amazing that you already got snow and ICE ! damnit over here the snow that came 3inches just thawed away and it might be -3celcius nothing more . Still Waiting . Nice to se some perch Get Landed i love Perch Fishin both for Eatin and Sports . Thanks for Showing some new lures those fluocolors look sweet they have some resemblems with our ice jigs here in Sweden . Best Regards Paul Roger Nilsson -North Sweden
At 1:30 when Jason pulled up that Football it wasn't the typical laugh we're all accustomed to hearing. He usually sounds like 🎅 but what I heard was the Grinch!
That is awesome, I love jumbo perch! Its so hard to find large perch in NW Ontario. I need to find a lake that has perch but none of the toothy predators like pike, musky and walleye. They rarely let the perch get over 10" here.
Jason- what length and weight dead Stick combo do you recommend for cascade? We are planning a trip next year and I need to “upsize” my rods for the perch there.
When does Cascade lake freeze? I go to baker city at the end of December for perch at Phillips lake been wanting to try out lake Cascade for a while now.
Phillips res! I fished there! Nice smallies, tons of 10to12inch perch and huge cuttbows coming in the entry River at the back end. I got trout to 22inches and a 25inch pikeminnow to on plugs back there!
When I was out west they hated the perch because they competed with the trout. Is it still like that out there? I remember seeing piles of perch knee high left out on the ice because they thought they were trash fish.
What pound test line would you recommend, also were you using fluorocarbon leaders? Planning a 5 day trip around Presidents Day. When you were there could you get around on 4 wheelers?
just fyi people, its not like this all the time out there, remember they have over 10 sleds/people searching for them that day, and then how many the days before. I've talked to a buddy that lives a hour away from there and he said people come out here with these Huge expectations but if they get 1 or 2 fish total all day they are doing good. Not to often is it a decent bite.
Just to clarify a few things... we didn’t have the luxury of having a team of people prefish the lake for us and find that fishing information is pretty limited. There were myself and five other anglers in our group and we just looked at a map and fished. There were also other people fishing the lake at the same time who we knew but we never had to fish around them and they never had to fish around us. The best lake in the world can have tough fishing, everybody knows that but we have experienced great fishing on Cascade. The wild card is the slush and snow.
Hey man, love the content but please don’t post images of your spot when fishing foreign bodies of water. I am a local to cascade and that shallow flat on the channel is my favorite spot on the lake. Almost won a 400 angler tourney there. Like I said no hard feelings, just keep this fishery on the DL. thanks
I agree. Only takes a couple seconds to whack the perch’s head with skimmer handle to dispatch it. Same thing for guys that fillet their catch alive. Karma…
@@fish4life226 pretty sure Jason has nothing but respect for every fish he catches. He releases 95% of the fish he catches. And for the other 5 % percent it’s for the dinner table. The fish don’t feel anything like we do. I guess I don’t know too many fisherman that club their fish before throwing them in the bucket. Or however you want to “kill it”. Most of the time they are gasping for air for hrs before they get cleaned and yes sometimes alive. I don’t think plucking it’s eye real quick is disrespecting the fish. If anything we say thank you perch for your eye, so I can catch another one just like you. If that’s too harsh then maybe fishing/hunting ain’t for you. O and no disrespect
@@jasonmunoz7285 how do you know what the fish feel, also there are many ways to kill a fish without pain...fishing and hunting can be done without making it brutal, maybe you just need to learn proper etiquette.
Wow those were monsters!!!! Cascade is my dream trip!
Been there many times.... best perch fishery in the states !! Great video.
Hearing Jason get excited like a 10 year old kid makes this video all that much better!
😀
The perfect video to feed my excitement for ice
👊
I have never seen such big perch.
Amazing.
Nice fish! Good eats
Man just yoinks the eye right out of that fish fresh out of the hole. Wrong day to be that perch! Deadly! 😆
Beutiful colors on those fish
Nice educational video Jason. I just subscribed but have watched many go your videos already.

This is from last season
At 1:30 when Jason pulled up that Football it wasn't the typical laugh we're all accustomed to hearing. He usually sounds like 🎅 but what I heard was the Grinch!
That is great! I felt like the Grinch riding into Whoville 😂
Those perch are huge
THANK YOU for releasing those big gals. This fishery is starting to crash HARD because nobody releases the big ones.
Yes people need to take care of it
Thank you for setting the example 👏🏼
I’d be in hog heaven!!! Both for fishing AND for eating! Perch are my favorite.
EPIC!
Last time I went there, it was 40 mile an hour winds and snow all three days. No perch but s few nice trout.

Nice fish. What make is that rod with the sensitive tip??
Dead Meat
nice video. how is that resort you guys stayed at? that guy has a gold mine there
The resort was over the top nice
what part of the lake?
Scuds( fresh water shimps) are the reason for those slabs
When does Cascade lake freeze? I go to baker city at the end of December for perch at Phillips lake been wanting to try out lake Cascade for a while now.
Usually by Christmas it’s solid, first part of December you can fish the northern part (usually)

@@jonu.8073 I have been ice fishing Phillips for over 10 years I go every 2 weeks in the winter time.

no
cascade's not frozen yet this year, when was this???!!
February
Does U. Stand for Urban?
@@calebnichols9288 thanks buddy, I looked all over on the vid and all I could see was the current date , haha

It is definitely trout country but I think more people are appreciating them.
Nice. Saved the best for last, hahahah
What pound test line would you recommend, also were you using fluorocarbon leaders? Planning a 5 day trip around Presidents Day. When you were there could you get around on 4 wheelers?
A lot of 8-10 lb Frost Braid and yes, 8 lb fluorocarbon leaders. More like walleye tackle/ gear.
@@JasonMitchellOutdoors thanks so much for the information.
Damn theres ice there already? Whats the daily limit there on that lake?
Was filmed last February and aired on tv today.
It's catch and release. *INTO THE GREASE !!* 👍
@@JasonMitchellOutdoors LET'S GO BRANDON
When is a good time to schedule a trip? February like when you were there or is there a better month? Thanks Jason
We have always done February but you run the risk of bad snow and slush conditions
January is the best imo.. best conditions
When was this recorded? Are the lakes in that area already locked up?
Recorded in February but just aired on TV
@@JasonMitchellOutdoors cool thanks for clearing that up, super hyped for first ice!
Stripes within stripes!
I want to go there so bad... im just poor haha
This makes a guy wonder if these Perch are born that size?! Lol, unreal on these brutes! We’ll done!
Thanks for watching 👍
Why don't you keep them? Here in Michigan we don't get big perch so they all taste good. Wonder if those taste good
They still taste good but those big females produce a lot of eggs. Throw back the big girls and keep the smaller “eaters” like the 10-12 inch fish
You need to do somthing with the microphone or sound. Jason always sounds muffled like the microphone is under his coat.
Yea we had some issues with mic rubbing against clothes. Conditions made it tough to film
@@JasonMitchellOutdoors still awesome content none the less! I hope I can find some tanks like that this winter
👍
Maybe dispatch that perch before plucking it's eye out though. 😬
Damn trolls. Ban the guy below Jason.

Have some respect for the fish, before tearing its eye out at least kill it.
