As you said in your closing remarks I also thought that it would have been a temporary fix with the piston heating up destroying the glue, I’m really surprised its still working after 40+ inflations, good job. A set of digital measuring callipers you could measure and find a nylon washer the correct size, 3D printed or JB weld.
I had this exact failure. Believe I overheated the pump and it stopped working making a racket. I used JB weld that I happened to have on hand and although I haven't pumped anything up yet it is running smoothly! My gasket seat on the piston was damaged as well and I had to use epoxy on it too. Thanks for the video!
I'm not sure if you could use a hose from a normal foot pump? I can't quite remember how it attached to the internals but if there was some of the original pipe left attached inside you could perhaps use a joint to connect to it?
Nice video bud,my £25 one turned up today,no battery,so coukdnt run it.watched your video and ventured in,turns out the little reed valve had fallen off the piston.looking forward to a battery turning up so i can test it properly.👍👍
That little ring was probably made of nylon and I would have 3D printed a new one out of nylon or if I needed some flexibility I would have used TPU. It's a very simple item to design and fast to print.
Good idea👍. I didn't know you could get nylon filament. I've just bought a faulty ender 5 pro, fixed it, was just a replacement board so didn't do a video on it. So I've just started doing some printing again after not doing it for a few years.
It depends if the fault is the piston. You would need to have a look to see what the problem is first. It could be something as simple as a break in the air hose.
Unfortunately I'm not sure on that one. Could try on the Milwaukee site to see if it's a part if not I'd try to get some kind of air hose barb fitting or something and attempt to repair myself.
Cheers for the quick reply…. Looking at your video I’d say I’d have to replace the hose and the part it’s connected too inside…. Think I’ll try and cut the brass tyre adapter off and replace it 👍🏼
I did it's about 1:15 to remove it is the same as all the other M12 tools. Just press the clips in at either side and then slide the battery out. Hope that helps!
I doubt it, it's pretty much the same as any other tyre inflator. You would need to use this to fill some kind of tank or spray can to do something like that.
@@BuyitFixit Great to hear! I was wondering about how gorilla glue would hold up under pressure/heat. Had the exact same repair on mine and used your video for the teardown (thank you!) I used JB Weld due to it's heat resistance and good adhesion to oily surfaces and had good results.
Thanks👍I've always struggled wearing gloves. Even when working on cars / tractors etc. I've only recently got some thin disposable gloves to try and keep my hands a bit cleaner when working on cars / tractors etc. I was giving my friend a hand today pulling his gearbox out of his Land rover to get to the crankshaft timing ring as it needs to be replaced.
Milwaukee makes it cheap to produce , expensive to sell, with no serviceable or repair parts so that u go and buy a new one. I would rather buy a Chinese chepo so I get a bang for my buck.
I really like my pro Milwaukee power tools, but I have to admit the quality of the gimmicky stuff leaves a lot to be desired. I won't be buying one of these things!
Totally agree, I've got a few tools now. The grinders are great, and the drill and impact driver I have are great also. The circular saws seem to be not so good and seem to fail a bit. Some of the other tools as you say don't have the quality of some of the other tools.

Thanks, it's actually still working I used it the other day! 😂😂😂👍
Im so glad you took the plastic off the screen.
😂😂👍

No problem. Glad you found it useful.
replaced the hose on mine and thankful to watch this video first to know how to disassemble the unit. thank you
No problem. Glad it helped 👍👍
Where on Earth did you find a replacement hose? Thanks.

You're Wicked with that Glue. lol Sweet! Even if you didn't lowered air in Tire just to use Pump. *Cheers!*
😂😂😂😂Thanks 👍
Great video
Thank you 👍
Great little fix, shame about the part not being available 👍😊
Thanks 👍it's still working too 🙂

Nice 👍Hopefully you can fix it 🙂
Success, battery turned up today and it works a treat👍👍.
The only downside is the battery I bought is a little too long,so I need to extend the feet😂
Gotta love that glue!
😂😂😂👍

You're very welcome!
Is it still running? And did you find a replacement? Thank you for the great video 👍
Thanks. Yes, it's still working fine. I've just it probably about 40 times since doing the video👍. No didn't manage to find a replacement.
Not sure it’s mentioned, but the case screws are T10.
I'm not sure if I mentioned that as it was a while ago, but thank you for clarifying.
Next time for a heavy duty glue job like this, use JB Weld Epoxy.
Thanks for the tip! 👍
Should pumps like these be lubed from time to time? I have a ryobi one and I it apart sometimes and spray lithium grease in the cylinder
I'm not 100% but I don't think it would harm.
Oh, the piston has a reed valve in it, as the intake!
I want to add an intake filter…I wonder if that may be possible…
I'm not sure on that, been a while since I repaired it..
What kind of screw head type did you use to loosing up the screws?
Can't 100% remember off hand but it would have been a torx probably a t10 or t20 most all of the Milwaukee stuff uses those.
Possible to use this on recharging the gas bottle in Milwaukee nailer? Enough pressure? Right connection?
Unfortunately I don't think it will go to 160psi? Even my large compressor only does about 90-100psi max.
hello sir, I have a question that: Is this milwaukee brushed or brushless type?
Brushed motor 👍
My air pump instead of measuring the air thats in the tire just lets it out like a seal is broken would this repair do the trick?
It depends if the fault is the piston. You would need to have a look to see what the problem is first. It could be something as simple as a break in the air hose.
The hose is broken. Follow those great video instructions and you’ll see a break in the line
Good video … the hose connector has broke on mine , do you know if it’s a replaceable item ? Cheers

I wish you would have shown how to remove the battery. See about min 1:20

@@BuyitFixit I’ll have to get my son to remove it. I love the unit, but I lack the hand strength to push the tabs.
Sorry to hear. Best wishes.
can u blow air and remove dust with that example the pc etc ...?
I doubt it, it's pretty much the same as any other tyre inflator. You would need to use this to fill some kind of tank or spray can to do something like that.
Hi, did the fix last ok?
Yes. It's still working fine and I've used it quite a number of times so far.. I'd guess around 30 times or so.. still going strong!

@@bjepson42 Glad you found the video helpful! Well done on your repair.
Great video. Why don't wear gloves? Just asking.

Get one of these $8 Amazon air inflators and change change out the guts. It will last just about as long as the m12.
Do you have a link to it? I only need the screen, mine is cracked and I can't find a replacement anywhere
Shame belongs to Milwaukee for releasing such junk with such planned obsolescence/defects.
Or sometimes cheap manufacturing to save costs. Some of the tools seem really good, and some aren't that great.
Chinese junk I bought their mexican made air compressor instead very happy with it
Nice, yes I think some of the Milwaukee stuff isn't so great.

The M18 one is really good in my opinion, the M12 one isn’t that great.
Thanks for sharing 👍
The m18 is 100 better. Faster and quiet. Has a fan to cool down
