Thanks for your thorough reviews. Your doing a good service. I''m 49 and have been training for 37 years off and on. As a lifelong gym guy and athletic training graduate, I know footwear is an overlooked, but critical purchase. An afterthought for some, but just as important as picking your bed for good sleep. I got the SuperRep Go 3 Flyknit 2 months ago and find them super comfortable and stable. I mostly lift weights and do lots of walking, but I'm 260lbs and need something supportive and these are great. Protects my feet while being really light and not so cushioned that it's absorbing energy. You are right about the thin tongue wrinkling up, but I just stretch it flat once it's on. You are also right about Nikes running on the narrow side. Not an issue for me, but it is for my father and 4 year old who have wide feet. I noticed my father always stretched out his shoes to the sides and decided to buy him a couple of Wide E casual shoes for his birthday 20 years ago and I never seen him that happy before. It's like he never felt comfortable shoes before. People, make sure you buy the right shoes for YOU!

@@thatfitfriend Well I just ordered the Metcon 5 based on its look and trying it on at the NYC Nike store. Shoes for weight lifting are tricky for me b/c we are supposed to use flat solid shoes but I want the height of a taller heel. I read that Metcon 5 comes with a heel insert so you get the best of both worlds; it's nearly flat when you want it to be (4 mm rise) and then it's got a 12mm rise when you add the heel insert.
BTW Nike just opened a 5 story flagship store on 5th ave in NYC. It's like a Disneyland of Nike. Wild. *Packed* with people who I assume are mostly tourists, given the location.

I just go to the gym and follow a Push/Pull/Legs Split, but I encountered the problem currently that with my current shoes (Asics Gel-kayano 28) which as you may know are shoes intended for walking and running so they don’t provide me a good stable base for gym usage. @thatfitfriend I’m having a really hard time finding the best cross training shoe. I’m probably overthinking it. I want a pair of vivobarefoot shoes because I know they support foot health but are they good for cross training ? I love Nike as well but would I be compromising my foot health ?

Haha, most of us are! Helps to have an objective point of view from others at times.
The Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III can be a great option for cross-training. IMO, I'd rotate your shoes based on your training goals/blocks. I regularly switch from cross-training shoes and barefoot shoes based on how I'm training and it doesn't have to be "all or none". You can build the feet and use barefoot shoes for benefit while still using cross-training shoes for certain workouts where you prefer them!

Hey this video was great! I have wide feet and can’t find a good size to try in store. I wear size 12 regular and the free metcon 4 was incredibly tight in that size. I tried the blazers in size 12 and I couldn’t fit the top arch of my foot in. So I don’t know if I need to go half a size or a full size up. Higher sizes aren’t available by me. Are there any wide shoes that you recommend for a beginner that is doing weightlifting? Some days burpees are mixed in my workouts but 9/10 times I’m lifting free weights. Very similar last constructions, so they're pretty much the same regarding width. However, the Metcon 8's upper does have a lower profile build through the toe box so it can give off the illusion of feeling snugger until they're broken in!

I currently have a problem with the Nike Metcon 8, since in Squat and Deadlift they give me the stability I need, however yesterday on a machine called V Squat I used them and loaded 350 pounds at 3 reps near failure, then my friend did the exercise with his Vans and did more reps than me, which was weird, because I am stronger than him, I took off the Metcon and did them in socks and did 10 reps near failure, after that I tried on the press with one leg and I noticed I was stronger without the shoes, it makes me sad because they cost me $150, I looked for studies about it to see if the weightlifting shoes should only be used in Squat and all other Vans exercises, but I didn't find anything about it, I think I will use the Metcon for the basics and the other leg exercises I will use Vans.
