Bit of advice from another TH-cam creator. I had to learn this the hard way.
No music. Tool sounds and men talking in the background is much better. Even if we can't understand the language it's still better than music. Pakistani truck is huge and this channel could be just as big. Good luck and thanks for the video!

To all the comments stating this repair will fail/be weak etc.
I understand that heating a heat treated rail reduces its strength, but when you look at the application, a very short wheelbase single drive prime mover it’s clear that not much load is on the rails in the repaired area.
Most weight is directly above the drive axle, maybe only a couple of tons transferred through the rails to the steer axle.
If you look closely you can also see that they have reinforced the repair by doubling the frame in that area.
I don’t think you’d ever get away with a repair like this in a developed country, but it’s probably pretty good compared to other things I’ve seen online

It will be just dandy until it isn’t. Imagine the next time that truck were to get in an accident.., the next drivers will die too. They should’ve straightened the rails and had them replicated for a little more work.

This steel frame was bend by a press. I think it is silly to assume that it was hardened by heat treatment. This part is subject to a lot of vibration and therefore can't be brittle by design. The repair should work mechanically fine.

@@smallgaragehustle you use "should've" in judgement of their circumstances, which of course you have no clue about. Also out of your ignorance, you speak as if you know that the driver was killed. You know no such thing.

Why did the frame bend in the first place was it a accident ? or over loading or a combination of both regardless that frame was, int as strong as it need to be and still is, int Heating only weaken it the rails should have been replaced.

These frame repair men need more heat for straightening such a heavy frame rail. They did an excellent job though with such limited equipment. Much respect for them. I spent over 33 years as a truck and auto framework repairman. It's not an easy job. On such heavy metal we used what is called a flame rosebud, it puts out alot more heat than a blowtorch.

New to the channel. I’m a heavy truck mechanic by trade, I watch these channels to see how different other countries repairs are. I’m amazed at rebuilding truck engines in the dirt, but it’s what they have. This frame was horrible and they did a decent job straightening it physically, but structurally shot. I didn’t like them skipping over the entire frame strengthening gussets. I watch Pakistani trucking and rozoburg trucks for more detailed channels.

As a former body man that salvaged totals years ago, using frame machines and diatom lines, I will have to say that though the job may not be perfect, those guys did a great job considering- with what they had to work with. I’ll give them a thumbs up. Actually, they did a better job with “made up” things than a lot of people here that has state of the art equipment.

  • @mountainryder3056

In certain countries you 'make do with what you have'. It’d be wonderful if the supply chains and equipments that exist in Europe were available where these guys operate. If it’s acceptable to the buyers and they know the history of the framework then I’d say happy roads. I’d encourage insurance but doubt it’s available.

I used to work in a truck shop we would hack the both bad frames off an cut it at an angle an fit the new channel frames up carefully measuring a lot of times an stick weld the new channel frame to the frame of the truck. I think it would be way less work doing it that way than trying to fix those mangled up channel pieces on the truck.

Thank you for the video. As others suggested no music is better. There's a lot of talk about frame strength and should they fix it. IMO, if they could do those things they would. They are working outside in the dirt, no cover, very basic tools. They are engineering solutions as best they can with what they have. Have you seen other videos where they take old ship steel and use very old lathes to make gears or shafts, etc? The hours that takes is staggering. Here in the states you would put it in a machine program it and "walk" away. As someone else noted look at the tires. If they can't afford tires how can they afford the frame tables and import the parts ? MB doesn't give that stuff away. TBH would I want to drive one of those trucks? No sir, I don't think I would. But I have that luxury. On the videos I've seen they do re-inforce it. I worry more about upkeep on the brakes, tires, etc..

I can see that everyone is delighted: "nice work", "great job", etc. Meanwhile, the truth is that such a demolished frame WILL NEVER HAVE NORMAL durability. Not for that the Mercedes-Benz company builds trucks with BOLTED frames to pat them on the anvil when damaged, but to replace the damaged elements with brand new ones without any problems.
Thus, a "repaired" truck in this way is death on the roads... Do these people have even elementary knowledge of steel strength?
Such beams are cut, bent and drilled during production, but the most important thing is in the end: they undergo a complicated heat treatment process - repeated tempering and hardening. Therefore, they are made of relatively thin sheet metal. These properties are destroyed when heated with an acetylene torch. Therefore, the beam treated in this way, even though it is straightened, is scrap!

You wanna see something really interesting,go to Pakistani truck TH-cam channel and watch them make double, and triple frames!! They wind up with damn near if not over 1 inch thick frame rails when they're done! As a truck driver who hauls way overweight loads a lot they are fascinating as hell!

I love your videos, but one thing why don't you guys wear work boots to protect your toes and foot. You are doing heavy repairs, protect yourself. I own a shop here in the USA, I WOULD NOT WORK WITHOUT A WORK ON MY FOOT.

Then they will fix it again. What’s your point. I’ve driven trucks for 47 years. Drove the same truck for 26 years. Believe me I know how trucks
wear out. These guys are doing more with nothing, which is more than I can say for some shops with “ modern equipment “and can’t get it right.
I’m not advocating that we all go “ down market “ but that truck will go down the road again, and make some money, and these guys will put food
on the table. Ps I only owned Kenworths

Too much efforts. For Pakistani traffic it should be enough to change the curved frame sides with two thick strait pine tree logs.

Nicht nur in D, der Rahmen ist hinüber und das Erhitzen von wämebehandeltem Stahl bekommt der Festigkeit nicht wirklich gut. So was repariert man nur in der 3. Welt, nicht mal mehr in Indien
