  • Another ebay purchase where someone had 'got at' the motor. However, due to having a couple of scrap diesels, I got this working. I did have problems removing the worm screw from the shaft, carefully re-inserted the shaft through the armature - it worked!

Super. That drive is almost the same as my ancient N gauge Atlas Fairbanks Morse CPA24-5 C-Liner. 💙 T.E.N.

I'm not familiar with that model, sounds like a search on Google is on the cards. Thanks for looking and commenting. Cheers, Jim L

It it the first N gauge Atlas locomotive model of a streamlined FM Consolidation Line (C-Liner) Passenger locomotive Cab unit with 2,400 horsepower and five axles. (B-A1A) My model also had a vertical motor mounting the four wheel front drive truck, but it had six wheel pickup and two sprung track contacts on the rear truck, so it rarely stalled. 💙 T.E.N.

@@tracynation2820 Now, I have 5-axle loco, just as you've described that needs a new motor. I never knew what kind it was until now. Cheers Tracy.

I believe this engine was originally made by Rivrossi model train co.

Thanks Charles, I always appreciate additional information on the locos I work on. I noticed that these vertical mount motor are often Rivarossi. Sadly, there motors are becoming rare.
      Thanks for looking

Hi Jim, thanks for sharing that,I bought a very cheap Atlas Milwaukee Road 2321 n-gauge ravirossi motor inside, she was barely running when I got her, opened her up for a deep clean and sadly she never ran again😂...I am finding it hard to find the same motor to replace it,can you help by any chance do you have a second spare one I could buy from you?
    Regards Des

Hi Des, thanks for looking in and your kind comment. I had a look through my locos and spares and, sadly, I don't have another Rivarossi motor. They don't seem to be readily available so you'll probably need to keep checking ebay! All the best. I'd like to hear if you're successful. Cheers, Jim L
