Canadian thrift stores and second hand stores even online market on the other hand are more expensive then the ones in the America. Its crazy I can find my whole set right now for half the price in America that's how many more clubs it feels like they have! Please continue this series Cole is the man! much love from Canada!

Yeah you probably lost 5-10 strokes because of forgiveness and distance improvements but you had numbers with those clubs that would work on most casual courses. Great stuff!

Oh double HY! Palmer Standard 85's are what's in my main bag right now! They're tasty!... Oh dear me you seem confused on those irons. Some info: The company was Arnold Palmer. The club model name was "The Standard" and "85" was the year model and a special Standard. They're a pure gorgeous blade that plays as well as my vintage Wilson's: WSTBFF (reportedly some of the easiest to hit tour blade type forged irons). Yes I'm an old-timer-and I've been known to play 1 and 2 irons because that's how it was done*) and the lofts were "weak". *And can yet be done, if you have the right tackle in the bag and the 'nads to swing it.

I went from some Taylormade R7's a while ago and was looking for new clubs and did this exact same thing! I couldn't justify dropping 1500-2000$ on a set of new clubs. I shopped around when I was living in Hawaii at the time and ended up finding a set of 3-PW Titleist MB 716 Irons with the shafts that match my swing speed. All I did was regrip them totaling $300. I kept my Calaway 3 wood as I hit that pretty well and found a Used TS-3 Titleist Driver all for under $500... My wife however surprised me with a scotty Cameron putter for my BDAY one year but yeah I love the blades they are forged and I hit them well and love the feel of them.
I love this series! I only buy used clubs, so this is right up my alley. I'm sad you couldn't find a full set of 681 irons. I love my set... also have a set of 680s :)
Ive been doing this my entire life, buying used lefty clubs with no money, working in the golf industry for 21 years and can build any Beginner golfer -thru- Tour player a set they can improve or be thrilled with.
@ $125 he stole that thing! Being that it’s in perfect condition, it’s all about who is willing to spend the money, but I guarantee he can make a couple hundred flipping that thing.
absolute steal on those victory grips. I bought my local shop out of their stock many years ago for $1 a piece and I still have enough to do one more set of full regrips
Awesome video, but I would have went for something like this: R510 tp or 905r driver. V steel or 07 burner tp woods. Ben hogan apex or apex plus irons. Old vokeys. Old ping anser sound slot putter. Imagine this set!

No no one needed more than two wedges, one with bounce and one without. The STING of a miss-hit was deep psychological motivation to practice more and miss-hit shots LESS! It would also ruin a wound balata ball-which was three bucks back then-yet more motivation to tune a swing properly.

if you really spend the time to drive around. Go to affluent areas and thrift. Found a brand new Callaway Maverick 2 wood for 100$ and a scotty cameron putter for 250$
