In this video i will show you one of many ways how to restore an old pickaxe like this in the video. This pickaxe is very very old and has some history behind it !! I used just one power tool, other work i did by hands.

I have a question about paint. I found an old pick axe (Mattock) in my bard this weekend and would it not be a good idea to paint it? Or what would you recommend to coat the bare metal?

Very nice restoration! These pick axes can be a task to restore. I'm working on a large one like this and a medium sized one that is pretty old. Done many single and double bit restorations and thought I'd try something different. I'm going to have to break the grinder out with a thin grinding wheel to get the deeper pits out.
