I've been practicing my alternate picking skill from scratch last septembre. I used to play with my forearm, and I switched to moving only my wrist. It took me 4 weeks, with an average of 3h a day, focusing only on the accents and playing no notes with my left arm, to reach some kind of mastery and a decent speed. 9 months later, it's taking me only a few days to master a new exercice using alternate picking with accents every 3 hits and changing the pattern of my left hand. It's stunning. Thanks a lot Claus, once again, for these incredible pieces of advice. Cheers from France.

I am practicing every day and I recognize progress. It just works, but I still watch every video of yours they are pretty good. It‘s this motivational talking what makes someone practice way more than videos with exercises. Your awesome. Btw i always have to laugh when your Intro starts with the epic music where you promote your product. Its fucking golden hahaha

I consider you a "mindset professionalist" and I hope you adopt that term 😛
You clarify the best philosophy towards guitar playing, even before anyone touches a fret.
    Amazing work, Claus!

When starting I'd 1. Learn on the electric with the great action. 2. Practice it on the acoustic with the okay action. Then once I have the neural sequence wired in, 3. Perfect the nuances on the electric with the great action. Got me good really fast. I never thought of doing everything I play on the acoustic but everything I practice on it becomes flawless in a hurry.. Resurrecting some of my old rules for newer territory. Thanks for the sign post mate!

Could you make a video on how to train the left hand for alternate picking methodically, which exercises are essential and the ones you should start with?

“We choose to play our acoustic guitar, not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.”

Hi it's me again. It seems like never ending to learn in this Kraft. So many things I would like to accomplish in them. But still now I am not pleased with myself how I can play all the pentatonic and Blues scales as I am not feeling playing effortlessly in all these areas still. But I jumped to only alternate picking these days for one month and I know that I cannot be expert in one month but my target is to lighten my rt hand which is found to be getting stuck as if my guitar is holding on it very tight , spending my extra energy in doing so.

.... This particular video is absolutely awesome!..... you're absolutely right.... I used to do that all the time... I had a guitar I would make super hard to play to practice on, but when I wanted to actually play and not practice I would use the other guitar.... I did the same to learn sweep picking. I practiced with the pick perfectly horizontal when doing sweeps so that when I held the pick normally where it has a natural slant, it was like floating on water.... I highly recommend to EVERYONE to watch your videos, because the techniques you teach break skill barriers..... I'm glad I subscribed...😎

Hi Claus, Another teacher I have seen addresses the brain stimulation of resources suggesting to play a riff or sequence at a slow precise speed, then twice faster than you can play it properly, then slow and precise again. He calls it using the frustration barrier. His theory is that the brain sends more resources to the brain to train the fingers properly. However, many more teachers suggest to NOT go so fast the notes can't been played clean and accurately. I have not found any other reference to the frustration barrier suggestion in any form of training. What are your thoughts on this?KelBrisbane, Australia.

I put 9s cage strings instead 10 and now it feels so much easier to play.

Your voice reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenneger. You are the Terminator that destroys bad guitar playing.

My students already press the strings down as hard as they can - it's not very beneficial imo.

When you're out buying that cheap workout guitar, stay away from a DeArmond. I have one the box stores only want to give $35 for in trade that truly plays effortlessly. Perhaps use one of these on a non workout day, as your smoker.
