my hp has been flickering lately...just found this video - only half into it and ...oh lord! will gladly pay someone to do this for me!! Thanks for the presentation though!
Just installed the display cable on my pavilion E series.. its midnight and damn it took almost 2 hours! Thanks to you I've got rid of flickering... Good presentation exactly what was needed... Plus you are hilariously awesome presenter!
Thanks for this video - it has given me the confidence to have a go and I'm hoping it will fix my laptop (that I had almost given up on). I also didn't realise the part would be so cheap - just bought it for a fiver as you said - fantastic!
Thank you for being the first helpful and intelligent person I've seen on these tutorials I ended up fixing my laptop thanks to you so thank you very much
Well done Jake B. Bravo. Thanks both 4yr remarkable attention to lighting & focus and taking us through the process from beginning to end. Getting to the monitor cable's do-able, but no small feat.
Just finished repairing my mums old G6 thanks to your video. Some minor differences from the model in your video, but worked a treat! No more seizures haha Though I did have to buy two cables as it turns out there are two versions of the connector at the motherboard end and of course I orderd the wrong one first...
Thank you so much for the Video, I was able to fix my screen flickering issue, which in my case made the laptop unusable b/c the screen would not appear at all. I purchased replacement part on Amazon that said it was compatible for my HP 17E, unfortunately, I did not know until I got the screen off the laptop that the part was not the same one in my computer. My replacement part looked like the one in your video (3 connections), the one in my laptop had 5 Connections, I decided to go for it anyway since it took me 3 hours to get the laptop apart. The missing 2 connectors appear to be for the Touch Screen, b/c after I put the laptop back together, the touch screen no longer worked. The Good news is that my screen now works, so I can live without the touch screen portion, just something to consider for anyone else trying to do this yourself. The Other issue I have after putting the computer back together is that 4 keys are not working (Enter, spacebar, O and L), the rest of the keys seem to work fine. I popped off the keyboard and tried fixing the ribbon several times, but I still can't get those letters to work. (I should also tell you that initially only 2 keys worked, adjusted ribbon, got a few more to work, adjusted ribbon again and got Most keys to work). Do you have any suggestions on how to get the full keyboard working again? Thanks again!!!
Very good video!!! This saved removing the memory and wlan as most other videos show. One difference i had was the video cable on my unit ran under the hinge cover just a bove the power switch. one screw and the cover came off to route the cable underneath. Thanks for making the job easier!!
I have the same model, my camera plugged from the top. I forgot that it did. When I was watching the video to put it back together I got confused because I forget. I had a hard plugging the camera back in because it's so small. I put the whole thing together and just the power came on. I took the screen back off and re-plugged the camera in better, put it back together and it works now.
Hi Jake, great video. When putting it back together, the black toggle which holds down the power has come off and fallen into the fan. If I can't get it back, is there something else I can use to hold it down or will I be able to replace? Cheers!
This didn't solve my problem of the HP laptop screen changing contrast (getting hazy and brighter) and snapping back to normal when you move the screen cover, but I think it at least ruled out a damaged cable as the culprit. Now, it's either the LCD itself or something with the video card, I suppose. If you have another idea though, please let me know. Thanks for posting this!
Hi Jake, great video. I have an HP Pavilion laptop (2016) whose screen goes grey. With some wiggling, the picture returns, however, remains pale but the image goes perfect if you apply pressure to the lower bezel. Does this sound like a video cable replacement as you just demonstrated? Thanks
Great video, and clearly explained. |I've just installed a new cable on my 1161sa, and there were differences to your pc. It was very hard to get into. Now I have no picture!!!! Spent hours on it too. Grrrrrgh!
A MILLION THANKS TO YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! My laptop is the g7 large screen so at a point i had to search other videos but between them and yours i done the job..thanks again.
Great video!! Flickering issue solved in my laptop. But when I’m fixing back all screws, something went wrong (seems to be). Now, when I’m using laptop with battery it’s working fine, but when I plug in the charger, laptop hangs and stop working. (AC adaptor was working fine). Can you guess the reasons??
The flex have any difrence with the hp g6 2300 EL? it's a shame that you don't put the link so we can buy the pieces trough! Thanks for the video I will use it when I Will find the flex!
Thanks... it's help a looooott to me. Kids play and step on my laptop, after that it start flickering. After some month its totally off. I use my tv as my screen. I will try to change the cable, otherwise the screen itself

Are there any other places apart from Amazon where you can get these laptop component replacements? I have been tasked to fix a hinge and display issue on a Dell Latitude 3330 and I can't seem to be able to find a decent website to find a new hinge and a new display cable for the system.
Hii! I have an HP Pavillion Pro notebook since christmas 2018 and it has started flickering and doing crazy stuff like 1-2 month ago. I tought it may be the flex cable, but it is strange cause the laptop is pretty new. What do you think??
Hi, i had the same flickering problem with my hp notebook, but now the screen is just black. If f I put a flash on the screen I see the OS booting. Could be the cable or the lid switch? What do you think?
Have a 17" hp laptop model m7-n101bx, S/N CND53236L9...Believe it is an ENVY series. However, cannot find a cable for 17"--only for 15" on Amazon. WIll that cable still work for my 17"?

hi jake i have the same problem like for 4 years still has it i was using it with a monitor but i dont have monitor anymore . i sent to a service he made it but it began flickering again and he said " your screen is broken" but i have this cable problem definetly so can i fix the cable cause when i push the screen on the back hardly screen comes and goes out in a sec. answer me please
My screen has a green and or pink hue on the bottom hlf when I first turn it on. It eventually goes away but comes back if waking from sleep . Not sure what it is.
My laptop's screens gone completely white after a drop, but everything else works fine with it. Would this work or do you think I'd need a totally new screen?
I have this same problem, up to now I have fitted a new screen cable, with no change, next I bought a screen, but still have the flickering problem!!!! any other thoughts?
Any idea what it turned out to be, and did you fix it? I have kind of the same issue on another HP laptop, and am considering buying a replacement cable. But if you say it has something to do with the lcd panel itself being defect please do tell me.
Is this likely to be the same problem with my screen as it flickers even when it isnt moving.. as i was told it could be the graphics card.. it does stop flickering if i bend the screen back on itself so im assuming this is the problem..but just wanted a second opinion .. Thankyou in advance
That was a very quick reply haha Thankyou.. If it doesnt work I'll blame you :) . also where did you get that screw driver set? and do you have a link for the part needed?
Also i have another question if you could answer it for me.. How do i find out what model my laptop is.. I've used command and it says "Manufacturer: HP Model: HP Pavillion G6 Notebook PC"
So I am not a computer person at all. I ordered the part from China for like $10 and followed your video. Totally fixed. Thank you so much!!
my hp has been flickering lately...just found this video - only half into it and ...oh lord! will gladly pay someone to do this for me!!
Thanks for the presentation though!
This is the best video I found for changing the Video Cable. All done with no screws left over. Many thanks.
Just installed the display cable on my pavilion E series.. its midnight and damn it took almost 2 hours! Thanks to you I've got rid of flickering... Good presentation exactly what was needed... Plus you are hilariously awesome presenter!
Used this video to sort out my flickering screen and changed my keyboard whilst I was at it. Saved me £££'s and works like new. Thanks for doing it!

ANGEL do you have wings...?
Thanks for this video - it has given me the confidence to have a go and I'm hoping it will fix my laptop (that I had almost given up on). I also didn't realise the part would be so cheap - just bought it for a fiver as you said - fantastic!

Many thanks, all good. I noticed that the hinge cover on the left was held on by one screw so this made it easier (for me) to run the new cable.

Thanks so much! Never would have tried this without this video.
You make that tabbed connector on the main board look so easy to remove. I have pulled and pulled on mine and it doesn't seem to want to release.
Followed the video step by step... simply perfect! Works as a charm! Good job!
A really excellent demonstration was easy to follow and very informative. Thanks for sharing

Is this the same procedure to replace the cable on an HP G62-140US? Does the display screen have to be removed to get to all the connections? Thanks
