I’m not the most experienced player as far as games go however I am level 45, I must say this was super informative I could tell you all about main series game abilities but Pokémon unite is so different, thanks for this
You know after watching this, so many older pokemon Passive's just need a buff. For all we know, that is all a pokemon might need. Half these pokemon I forget have a passive whether it is tiny or just powercrept. I'd really like to see Passive buffs for the older mons.
yeah i agree. i think gengar is probably the biggest one for me. i really dont think its bad but its just so awkward maybe if it had a real passive it could fit better though.
crazy how Luca's passive used to be like the most broken thing in the game (alongside cute charm probably), still very good but the power creep is real.
If greninja was released today i am 100% sure that it would have the battle bond as its ability. Also as a competitive Pokemon player not seeing unseen fists in S tier was kinda weird for sec XD but then i remember that this is unite.
The only thing Absol's passive does is mess with stat comparisons. I really feel like it could be a boost to the crit-rate modifier instead of just a stat buff
I wish gluttony had the effect to allow Snorlax get berries by defeating other Pokémon along with its normal effects, maybe have it have a chance to drop ether a Sitrus or a Salac berry from enemy Pokémon and wild Pokémon would drop an Oran berry. This would allow Snorlax to have is passive for the whole match instead of only for the beginning.
46:30 i would say queenly majesty is tsareena. Without it, theres no buffs, shields, resets anything. The pokemon would have and be nothing without it.
Fun facts about some of the passives: Greninja's, Lapras' and Lucario's passives got all nerfed once or even twice. Greninja's atk boost used to be 12%, Lapras' max HP reduction used to be 25% and Lucario's shield used to be much bigger, while Mamoswine's passive got buffed. The fact that 12% was "too much" on Greninja at some point says volumes on how bad power creep has gotten over the years.
As a Mr. Mime fan I've noticed umbreons passive keeping it from being shoved, didn't know I was also giving it a boost. Will definitely be keeping that in mime.
I don't usually watch a Spragels video to laugh, but I'm glad I didn't skip the sponsor. The Charlie Brown voice and kid pick-up joke was great, thanks Jake 😂😂
Garchomp's passive is a build in rocky helmet, and it is as useful as the item rocket helmet itself lol, it would be amazing if Garchomp also got sand storm ability. By the way, Clear skin is the worst ability on both Metagross and Dragapult, here's why, both of the mons have a kit where their moves can be cancelled, so although it reduces hinderance, but unless it's reduced to 0, it would cancel their moves (Metagross unite in Metagross's case) all the time. Same with Dragon Dance.
Ninetales better be dominating the bottom of the tier list with a passive that is actively bad in many situations (the number of times it hits a wild Pokemon and interrupts my score...) Edit: Forgot that it did other things, too. I just wish the random Snow Warning attacks were gone.
I've been all too aware of how many Pokemon have been power crept in the past, but I had NO idea what Mimikyu's Disguise did, let alone having a revenge feature! I play it frequently so it was nice to know.
Imagine a rework of Greninja's ability to battle bond, and after getting KO, you can turn into Ash-Greninja for a short time like mega mewtwo X and mewtwo Y, that would be so cool..
Might be a harder tier list to make but one that I think could have some good value: Red Buff tier list, which Pokémon benefit a lot from it vs. which ones it doesn't really matter for. It's something I hear you mention in videos but don't feel like I have a great understanding of myself
If Gengar was released today, it absolutely would’ve gotten something like Cursed Body, which would disable any move used against it for say 3-5 seconds on a 10 second cooldown
Anothee amazing vdo indeed and i love how much effort you gave into this one... Ive left unite 6 momths ago for studies but i couldn't help stopping you casting tournament live and all ghe vdos..those are just too Entertaining....but now i have to get rid of mu addiction and stop watching TH-cam to get rid of my addiction for the next year... :) ... I hope you good luck and keep making these great content for unite ... And when i come back next year i hope see my fav content cowboy again.... Baiiiiiii
I play a fair amount of mamo, and I forgot he had a passive for a while tbh, even though it’s rather impactful. I feel like there should just be an update where they just buff up all the older passives so they can keep up
I would love to see Garchomp’s passive to change to a fear that cause Pokémon to slowly walk away from it for a second (think like wiggly in reverse) you could name it Intimidation which I think is a passive it games in base games (could be wrong about that)
My vote for top 3 passives before you revealed yours were: 1. Meowscarada 2. Wigglytuff 3. M2Y But after watching your picks, i can see how M2Y easily has the most busted, i agree and think Wiggs is 2nd. Never realized Cramorant was lowering defenses while above 50% life and i been playing since the start! Thanks Spragels! Cool video!
Dragapults clear body should make the dreepy/attacks explode on impact but pass through the enemy and it's movement should not be hindered making it truly clear body and it goes through all pokemon
Great video. If every passive was like the ones from the early game this video would be a lot shorter because some of the newer ones are just ridiculous like you said. If you have to stop and take a breath in the middle of reading it, it’s probably too long. 😂 If nothing else this is a good educational video because most people including me with like 6k games don’t know what all the passives do because there are so many Pokemon. I would buy some Raycons, but I still have mine that I got several years ago that still work great! 👍🏻
I think a way you can make Snorlax passive up to date with power creep is to label some battle items as "food" items. Or make a battle item that is based off a food and that effect for Snorlax is doubled, just a thought to boost the big guy Like leftovers: if they changed it to heal you outside of battle without enemy pokemon (still proc when farming) and then have that effect doubled on Snorlax, that would make Snorlax's passive better plus be more on theme with the mainline games
I'll take blame as one of the people asking for this one, hah. I like lists like this that go into something a little more mechanical. Mostly agreed on the overall list, though I don't think Metagross' passive is all that useful considering you still get interrupted by every CC that comes your way and if you're actually surrounded by multiple players there's going to be a lot of CC getting thrown at you. Like, 50% reduced CC duration *sounds* great on paper, but the only time you're getting that there's likely to be 3-4 CC attacks getting thrown around at any given time. And something like a 10% decrease on a CC effect that lasts a second just ain't noticeable. There's a reason no one ever bothers with pink emblems. Most of the time its gonna be too small to notice. Also "fun" fact, Dragapult's ability is basically worse than having no ability at all. It reduces the duration of debuffs by 20%. However, probably because of it's ability, Dragapult is the only pokemon in the game with absolutely zero base Tenacity. All other pokemon have just under 20% base tenacity at level 9, some have even more. Tenacity reduces the duration of *all* status effects, hinderances, stat drops, and CC. Dragapult's passive only reduces the duration of "debuffs". Which means stat drops exclusively, but not CC or status effects. So Dragapult is essentially more vulnerable to CC and status effects than any other pokemon in the game by level 9, and only slightly more resistant to debuffs before that point.
Funny how Cramorants passive is technically Pikachu's passive but offensive. Like why not give Pikachu like something to increase its damage by eeeever so slightly. Paralyzed targets to take +10% damage maybe?
Chandelure's passive should be in A tier personally because if you do the math, for eight stacks of ignoring special defense it does almost as good as slick spoon, and correct me if I'm wrong, slick spoon stacks with it's passive
Also, grimsnarl could have prankster where it gets more attack increase the more of a level difference between it and the opposing highest level pokemon
Maybe they should use a separate button to activate Miraidon's Electric terrain, so you could actually manually trigger, or even target it, for an easier way to use it. Then again, it's an EX pokemon, so we don't even need to give it more things. 😅😅
Wigglituff's passive for me it's stronger, being able to stun and on top lock moves, which to remind makes a pokemon like Mewtwo X have bad time on not using its busted 10 sec moves, it's just a strong effect considering that Wigglituffs love fighting stuff and many times get granted shields from its own moves that allows it to reduce or even nullify damage. Wigglituff just negates Melee characters, anything in combat must either start a rush on range or being paired with a range player to deal against it, Wigglituff it's way to strong for being an early game pokémon. Dude, that thing is annoying.
HOT TAKE ALERT! Wiggly's passive, while strong, is overrated. The enemy is in full control of when it gets triggered and the tank should always proc it first. Most complaints I've heard come down to poor target priority. Wiggly's a tank, the passive should punish you for trying to combo them down first. But I'm a Wiggly main so maybe I'm just biased, I'd love to hear what other people think.

Gengar too

Yeah, Gengar has a horrible passive@@willowwing9202

AHEM Talon. Literally just float stone at full hp only
My passive is watching every Spragels video
Yeehaw

Id rank Leafeons passive higher tier, you constantly use it with leafeon, the boosted attack and move speed is great
Good point
Gyarados’s Moxie actually buffs his Attack stats, it’s in Unite DB, just not specified in the game for some reason…
Been waiting for this Tier List! Love this video!
