One door is closing and I have no doubht a better door is opening. Its a tad emotional but a step in the right direction. Someone will get the joy you did from her. Goodluck with your future plans. And thanks for the great videos Nikita and keeping my mate safe and not fu*King dying. Xxx
Just got back from a grueling ride into Montana from Idaho. Extremely hot and buggy. My RS performed brilliantly. Have had over 30 bikes and this is my fave. Maybe not a track bike, but this thing handles! Thousands of turns. Hate to hear you selling the RS- you'll miss it. Try looking at a base Vstrom 1000. Great engine, handles nicely, great two up, not too expensive. For all you RS guys, look on youtube for an RS racer with a channel named "D". This thing is impressive. Hope you find a nice bike for you and your lady.
There’s no denying it, it’s an amazing bike. And you’re quite right, I shall miss it. Goes well, stops well, turns well, looks good and sounds incredible. Kawasaki got it right with this one. I’m glad you’re enjoying yours. I’ve had a great time with it. I have a couple of bikes in mind, but they don’t come up for sale in my area very often. One option is a Rocket 3 touring, another a Kwak voyager Classic. Open minded at the moment though, and looking forward to putting some miles on the ‘between bikes’ bike. Thanks for the heads up on ‘D’, I’ll check that out. Many thanks FB 👍🏼
I bought a Candytone Blue 2022 brand new in January. I'm in No. California and have a 40 mile drive each way to work, I bought her to ease my gas pains... Did some easy mods, I'm 6'2" so I bought 28mm risers off of Amazon & 1" footpeg lowering kit from GERMANY. Those 2 things really help sit me up straight. SHAD 48 top case & 23 side cases for my small lunch cooler and riding gear did the trick. Went up 1 tooth on the counter sprocket, dropped 500 rpm in 6th gear at any speed but still has the power to pull hard. I cruise on the freeway at 80-85mph, 42-46 mpg average overall with 91 octane. I love this bike, for what I bought it for it is delivering very well, no buyer remorse. Oh, yes the wind is an issue at speed so I ordered a CHIC DESIGN COMET Fairing from SAMURIDER in JAPAN painted OEM to match the tank perfectly. It looks fantastic but it breaks the wind off of my chest and up to my helmet, it wasn't cheap but well worth the cost. I'm keeping mine, do my own oil changes, chain maintenance ect..... I have a H.D. ROAD GLIDE I bought new in 2011 so I have the Cruiser for when the Wife and I ride together...... Good Video Buddy, well done! Ride Safe Brother.....
It sounds like you’ve set it up perfectly for you. Nice! I don’t have any remorse from buying mine. I’ve had an amazing time on it. Great job by Kawasaki, building a retro style bike with modern performance, and not too much tech. Thanks for watching. Enjoy your ride and take care over there 👍🏼
You can easily fix the fast idle on start up - there is a screw under the tank, LH side - undo the lock nut and wind it off - it is hard to get to but if you raise the tank you can get to it more easily. The shops won't do this as they think it is a warranty issue. With the running hot and snatchy throttle, it is basically running too lean in order to meet Euro emissions standards - just flash the bike as he says and you will get rid of these problems. The gearing is better if it is raised as well. I agree with those comments. The only issue with flashing it is that the fuel consumption will increase, it is a trade off between fuel consumption and snatchy throttle (and running hot). The fuel tank is small so range becomes as issue after the flash. However, once tuned correctly the bike performs really well. An Akro or after market pipe fitted at the time of flashing is also an advantage in terms of additional power and torque. Do your own servicing and it is cheap and easy as it has no fairing and the oil pan is easily accessible. He is right in that no screen and being an upright position makes the bike not very suitable for long distance. I love this bike for day rides in the twisties but it is not a long haul machine by any stretch. The seat will soon tell you this. Uncomfortable as hell after a while. The pegs are too high as well, makes it uncomfortable for tall people, but if you lower them you have limited ground clearance. Great bike, nice to ride and very responsive but not a tourer.
I've toured on one. It was fine. Soft luggage on the back and a ride around Ireland and up to the Isle of Man was more than comfortable. People complain about the seat - personally, I like a firm seat, so have no complaints.
A beautiful review and homage to Nikita. It's been a great 4 years and totally understand your decision and it makes sense. There cones a time for change and the difficult part is taking that step!! I can't get myself to sell donkey! Can't wait to see the interim bike and it will be interesting to see your review of the next one! Thank you for sharing, very excited for you and can't wait to see the update to the stable! 😁🖖🏼
Thank you kindly Quinn 🙏🏼 It’s going to be very difficult to let this one go, but it doesn’t meet my requirements any longer. Things change, and I’m looking forward to a new chapter 🙂
Yes fully understand - I had the green and yellow version bought it in Sept 2020 sold in sept 2021 - bought an F750GS 40th. anniversary and put on an aftermarket screen - so far happy -first tour coming in 15 Aug. to France / Netherlands lets see. I just bought a Royal Alloy GP125 scooter two months ago to feel the wind and surprisingly its really great fun!
What a huge coincidence. I’ve been getting an itch for a scooter, and just today I’ve been looking into the Royal Alloy GP/GT125’s. Now it almost feels like fate 🤣 I hope the GS serve’s you well. Enjoy the trip and be safe. Many thanks 👍🏼
Very emotional and understand the reasons behind the decision. I am sure you and mrs SB will create some wonderfull new experiences and memories on your new addition to the family.
Ah yes, it is quite emotional, strangely. It’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Many thanks, the old man. Take care 👍🏼
Nice, I was interested in this video since I’m on the other side and will pick up this exact same bike next week as a replacement of my Bonneville T120. So much looking forward to own it! Nice video and good luck with the new bike choice!
Oh congratulations! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. They really are amazing bikes, and it’ll be very hard to part with this one. Many thanks, and enjoy the new ride 👍🏼
None of the complaints on forums ever bothered me. They aren't worth the effort. I did sell my 2018 RS to upgrade to an SP version. Lovely machines, both of them. As a general rule, I ignore the complainers and do my own thing.
Very pleasant and emotionnal way to present a rather "rationnal" decision 😪. Every time I had to switch for another bike, I found very good reasons for, but always with "a little pinch in the heart" Many thanks. Keep safe.
Thank you kindly Loïc! Yes that is exactly how it is. I shall miss her dearly, but have had a great experience with her. Time to move on and I look forward to the next chapter. Thanks again, and take care my friend 👍🏼
You ended it like a pro and that is what your are. It is not the bike, it is you. You went so far... that it is time for somethjng different. I see and I completely understand. The Z900rs it is a wonderful bike, but it is time for a new one, a different one... Keep up bro, you got my support. Waiting for the next video.
You are very kind RRR, thank you. Yes, an amazing bike but, it no longer meets my requirements. Time to make a change. I will miss this bike, but look forward to the next chapter 🙂👍🏼
I live in the State of Az in the USA I have a 2018 Z900 Rs Cafe and Ive never had a problem with it running hot. And I'm pretty sure that we a significantly hotter here than the UK. I run the bike in 110 degree Fahrenheit temps regularly and it performs flawlessly. I used to road race an 82 GPZ 750 Eddie lawson replica when I was younger and I would take this bike on the track any day of the week and twice on sundays over that bike. I absolutely love my cafe.I reckon I'm just a crazy Yank. I don't know what y'alls summers are like in the UK but I doubt y'all ever see 110 fahrenheit.so I dont understand your heat issues.
Hi! I have never known it rise above 95F here in the UK. The bike doesn’t overheat, the gauge climbs when slow moving or stationary in traffic. It is most likely due to a sensitive gauge according to the experts on the forums. But as I say in the video, I don’t see it as an issue and I never felt the need for an expensive ecu flash. I don’t doubt that it would be great fun on a track. I don’t have any near me, but I’ve certainly had a good time in the twisties on her. It’s an amazing bike and I’ll be sad to see it go. In fact, it’s still in the garage and if it doesn’t fetch the price I’m asking, I might just keep hold of it. I used to have a GPZ900R, I loved that bike too. Many thanks for watching and commenting. Take care over there 👍🏼
If you do part with the gal , I think a Continental GT , or a Interceptor would be an awesome addition to your RE stable , but that is my thoughts . The absolute raw power of a KZ 900 is crazy , and would be missed , but a happy heart is just a zen thing to have . Cheers .
Hey sluf. I really like the RE twins and I think they would look good in the stable. But, they don’t really meet my requirements/wants/needs/desires. I have a couple in mind, which you might be surprised by. Thank you mate 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 As you know , and if you have watched any of my videos , I am a Harley-Davidson fan , but not a snob , I love all motorcycles , as they all serve a different need , or purpose. At 5 feet , 2 inches , the RE Bullets are a bit tall for me , but I would very much love one . I miss a few Yamaha's that I had in the past , such as my Raider S . I feel , I am solid with my flock of junkers at the moment , cheers to you my friend from across the big pond .
Exactly why i didn't get one when I was thinking of getting back in the saddle. I fancied a zzr1100 as I'd always want one, but they just beg you to twist that throttle. That's the joy of 20-50 bhp, you're not always looking to overtake in fact your often looking in the mirrors being overtaken 😂
It’s funny how I am happy to pootle around on my Classic, but as soon as I climb on the Z, I want to wind it on. I can behave on big bikes, but not if it’s sports orientated. Time to leave them alone me thinks. Thanks icedidi 🙂👍🏼
Wow, the co-incidences keep coming - I had a plan to do a goodbye video to Piggy - and you said everything! So I fully get where you come from. Can't wait to see what's next!
Ah yes, another coincidence. I hope you still do a goodbye piggy vid. I know you’re up against at the moment though. It’ll be sad to see Nikita go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks Franky, take care mate 👍🏼
Fully understand where you are coming from, it is the reverse for me as I was looking at “upgrading” my main bike and was looking at the Suzuki GSXS1000GT, Yamaha Tracer 9GT and a few others. I came to the conclusion that if I had all that performance then it would release the devil in me. So I’ll stick with Potter(my Himalayan) my old beemer and scooters until I get tempted again and have to give myself a good talking to!. Intrigued to know what the new bike is. Ride safe.
Oh I considered the Tracer GT a couple of years ago. Yes, I think every bike invites you to ride a certain way. The sound of the induction howl on the RS is addictive, but before you know it, you’re on the speed limit 😉 I’m quite happy pottering around on the Enfield’s. Many thanks DB, give me a shout if you ever need talking out of anything silly 😝 All the best 👍🏼
I'm thinking of the C14 for the same reasons you indicate. Selling the '18 Cafe is another matter... I'm still kicking myself for selling my '74 Z1A years ago. These bikes get us to throw caution to the wind more often than not. Looking forward to your long distance replacement. 👍👍👍
Argh, the Z1’s are worth a fortune now. There’s been a couple of bikes over the years that I regret selling. I do miss the RS, but they encourage bad behaviour don’t they. Many thanks BRJ, all the best 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
It’s not you, it’s me. Dude that seriously sums up moving on from it but I totally get it. If you are wanting to do touring with the Mrs it just ain’t the right bike. I have my Dyna for longer more comfortable journeys, however, I have been turning my Z into something that can match it. Added a Corbin gunfighter seat, while not pretty does double my riding comfort Added a chic windscreen that allows me to cruise at 80mph and feel very little wind, just a bit on my head. If I can find some quick detach saddlebags I may be poised to turn this into full touring I’ll be sad to see her go, your channel is what turned me on to the z but we all must at some point.
Hey Fett! I actually found the seat/pegs/riding position pretty comfy. It was only the wind that beat me up a bit on long days. A screen may have done the job, although I’ve found they often create a lot of buffeting. They’re an expensive thing to experiment with too. But yes, for two up, even if a screen worked it wouldn’t be ideal. It’s fine for a couple of hours for a pillion, and the bike rides well, as it does with luggage. It will be interesting for me to see how you get on over time with your changes. I’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m also looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks again my friend. Take care over there.
For several times in life i had this kind of ambivalent thoughts about my bikes and the future ones. I understand you preety well. Before the Classic 500 I had a Honda CBF 600 SA. I didn't reggret it. It was making me a bad boy ; a hooligan from time to time. It pulled me over anything in front of me; it was provocative. That was not bad, but...my trips were not always very relaxing; the high revs, induced a high frequence buzz calling for more and more power and called for high revs and speed. I felt after a year or two I had some lazyness to ride it; besides it was rather heavy. The rear cases were making it cumbersome; the sporty riding position was not very relaxing; when the weather was hot the cooling fan automaticly blasted me in urban traffic and in most of cases we cant avoid it. The protection of the fairing was not enought to eliminate the noise from the helmet. All these things made me say ; it´s enought. I want to ride cooler and simpler; and economical too; so back to basics. And then the Classic 500 arrived. I go on in love with her. I feel I cant sell it. Meanwhile,...I bought a 2003 Moto Guzzi breva 750 with 15000km justo to make the same as the Classic, but a bit qwicker in motorways whithout crawling after lorries at the same speed. DId I took the right decision? I don´t know.😁😁
Thank you my friend. It seems we are very much on the same page. The Z really is an amazing bike, but no longer meets my requirements. It is time for a new chapter, and although it will be hard to let this one go, I’m looking forward to the next part. The Classic 500 will remain. That bike is a real joy to ride. More than just a bike. A friend, and my therapy 🙂👍🏼
Well SB that's gotta be a bit of a wrench she's a beauty and that's for sure I guess you've thought long and hard on this so good luck on your next one and I look forward to seeing it .😊👍Hasta la proxima amigo !!
Hey Crumblymal! Yes, much thought went into it. It’ll be very sad to see her go, but for the best in the long run, I believe. Muchas gracias amigo, hasta luego 👋🏼🙂👍🏼
A bitter sweet day for you but an awesome day for whoever buys Nikita next. Then you get to play with new toys, Huzzah! :) Been considering selling my DRZ for similar reasons....I should've named it Mr Hyde ;) Best of luck with the new bikes mate, RS.
Ah yes it’ll be a very sad day, but I’ve had a great experience with the Z. Time to move on and I’m looking forward to the next chapter. The DR must be great fun. You thinking of replacing it with something other? I’ve thought about one of those to up my green lane game, but the witch is doing ok. Thank you mate! All the best 👍🏼
Oh I'll definitely get another bike, just not sure what yet...So many to choose from & I want them all! Looking forward to seeing what you pick next... Cheers mate.
Ive read flashing fixes the issues as well. I have been riding a Mean Streak (2 actually) since 2005, but have my eyes on the Vaquero, and everyone says flashing the ECU fixes its throttle response, lag, temp and fuel economy problems. The z900rs is the only other bike that interests me, so this was good info. Good luck on your future endeavors.
Hi. It so happens that the Vaquero (Voyager Custom as it’s know here) is one of the bikes I would consider replacing the RS with. Yes, it sounds like the ECU flash fixes everything, but I haven’t felt the need. I’m sure they must vary bike to bike, and I got lucky. Many thanks, and all the best to you 👍🏼
Hi. I have this bike since 2019. Got it new. I so love this bike. It wasnt perfect. I did n upgrade on the rear shock, had the ECU reflashed. And other bits. Its perfect now.... the issue is that I recently bougth a second bike for long distance touring (a 2006 BMW 1200RT). Its a great bike. The wind protection, the bags... its so convenient. More and more.. makes less sense for me to keep two bikes (maitenaince, insurrance...it all adds up). I never thought I would sell this bike. Its a good bike to keep and turn it into a classic 30 years from now (im 45 now.. hope i'm around in 30 years). But nee do think about my finances. If I sell it for 10K, I can use that to pay the mortgage..... but i'll be very sad when the RS leaves my garage. :((
Hi Luis. They are incredible bikes. I have sold mine now. It was a difficult decision, but once I made my mind up I told myself not to be sentimental about it. In a way I miss her, like several other bikes I’ve owned in the past. I also considered holding on to it, and keeping it in a bubble for a few decades. But the way things are going, it’s better to use the money elsewhere, for me at least. Also, they are such a popular bike, I expect it’ll be a very long time before they start increasing in value. I enjoyed my time on the RS very much, and will always have those memories. All the best, safe journeys 👍🏼
When we're young, we want to go short distances....fast !! Now we want longer distances and taking our damn time getting there. lol. Can't wait to see the future bike. :)
I had exactly the same problem and for all the same reasons, Kevin, my Z900RS Cafe had to go. A sad day but the right decision, least for me it was. 😊 Great video as usual.
It’s nice to find someone who understands 🙂 Yes, it’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m sure it’s the right decision, and I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Many thanks TAYM 👍🏼
I understand you Bud, I sold my Bonnie 650 for the same reason, she would still do 120mph and most of the time kept her about 70mph, would have been only a matter of time before my luck ran out. Did I regret? yes but not the wrong decision all the same. Best of luck me boody.
Yes, different bikes invite you to ride differently don’t they. I’m not a speed freak any more, and quite happy bimbling around on the Classic. But anything sports orientated makes it tempting. Thank you kindly Janner. Take care me ansom 👍🏼
Hi , yes to me when the cover was put on B M C , HE,s going through a change in life and wishes to enjoy the rest of it and has nothing to prove . Well never mind , I will still be tuning in , awaiting to see you ,on wait ever you choose , to saddle up on . Take care my friend and give the Z 900 RS A pat on her tank from me , my friend .😢👍
You are so right! I really enjoy life, and have decided to stick around for as long as possible. A motorcycle that doesn’t invite poor behaviour might help 🤣 It’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Many thanks my friend. I appreciate your support. All the very best 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 YES YOUR RIGHT SOLD MY TWO Lotus and brought a vw golf convertible , brought daughter a honda civic 1300 sport , OH f this I having a type R , yes and sold that , to fast and every yob wanted to take you on , two front tyres in 8 weeks .🤩😕🙃👍 staying alive .
I thought of getting one, but being amply stocked in the fat knacker dept, I've decided to stick with the burger van. She does everything I need it to, nuff said.
I relate on the high engine temperature, my sprint runs at 105 degrees standard, in this recent weather it’s been running much hotter 🤦♂️ Never rode one but it sounds like a lot of the fundamentals aren’t that great, however at least it has that Japanese reliability. I’m sure she’ll go to a good home and you’ll get a great replacement 🤘 Great video mate, hope you’re well
A lot of these modern bikes are just running too lean. That accounts for some of the issues. The complaints I mentioned about the Z900rs aren’t really relevant to mine, but are quite commonly talked about on the owners forums, so there must be something to it. Yes I hope she goes to a good home. She deserves it 🙂 Thank you mate. All is well, and I hope you’re doing ok 👍🏼
Great dichotomy a lot of us fortunate to own more than 1 bike face. With rising costs of fuel, insurance and probably road tax🤔 Few fuel injected bikes are great from cold. My experience with the BMW s1000 engined derivatives is very high rev idle from cold. Rather like an old fashioned choke but with no way to "trim" the affect. Imo very agricultural and difficult to control on the clutch until revs drop once warm. Personally, you and Mrs Saddlebags would look great on a r1250gs 😜 or better still, a k1600 bagger😯 I think the sheep also agreed with your summation 👍✌
Yes, it’s an expensive bike to keep, considering it no longer meets my requirements/wants/needs. I guess there will be niggles with any bike. I have noticed the high revs at cold start isn’t exclusive to the Z. I’ve also noticed the fan is often running on the s1000 in slow riding environments. Perhaps to do with how lean bikes are running these days? BMW GS, No! Closer with the bagger 😉 I won’t be replacing Nikita with a brand new bike though. Haha yes the sheep 🤣 bah bah! Thanks Pike 👍🏼
A very nice pair of bikes indeed. I think I would find the SX too sports orientated, and still be left with the same dilemmas. Many thanks my friend 👍🏼
Nice video SB, first time I've watched and the z900rs is indeed a lovely bike. I recently had to make a similar decision to get rid of my Meteor 350 so I could do serious miles with luggage and the option of 2 up. I really miss the plucky little Meteor, it had charm in spades. Look forward to see what your new ride is like!
Hi, thank you very much. It’s a shame when we have to move bikes on at a time we are still enjoying them. But if they no longer meet your changing needs, it has to be done. I’m a Royal Enfield fan too, and thankfully can hang on to my Classic 500. Thanks again and all the best 👍🏼
Thank you mate. I must admit I have got attached to this one, which is stupid. It is just a bike after all. Looking forward to the next chapter though. Thanks again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I'm actually tinking to do the opposite. I own an Africa Twin 1000, and was thinking about switching to this. I'm single, ride mainly in the mountains, so this should be fun. I'm still doubting about the change, since i think i'll misse the comfort of the big bike. Sure, i can put a fairing, a couple of panniers and do long distance with the Z, but it's not the same.
It’ll be so much fun in the mountains. I’ve rode the Z quite a bit with loaded panniers and it handled great. I found it fairly comfy as standard but you would benefit from a screen on the long days.. You’ll definitely find the howl addictive…I do miss it. Good luck with it 👍🏼
Well sad to see Nikita go but if it’s not the bike that suits your needs sadly she would after go after all if your after a better touring 2 up best thing to do someone will get a well looked after Z900 RS 👍👍👍🙏
The fast idol and high temperature and snatchy throttle issues all are resolved with a good tune.. I had I had mine done and it was like a whole new bike. Ivans tuning
All of these issues are due to Euros tuning for gas savings the high idle gets it hot quick. The snatchy throttle cuts off injectors when you're off the throttle and the high temperature is to keep it as hot as possible to be as efficient as possible it also is ran as lean as possible too. Get it tuned before you sell it you'll thank me.
@@nickmyers601 I do thank you. I’ve heard the Ivans tune does the trick. But I have never been particularly bothered by those issues. The snatchy throttle seems to vary bike to bike, and this one never seemed too bad. I’m delivering the bike to its new owner this evening. Happy/sad. Thanks again.
I sold my Street Triple R for exactly the same reasons ! It was a great bike but I too started working out what it was costing me to have it and then the other downsides you mention here and ultimately it needed to go. I wanted to devote more time to my Bullet 500 at the time but unfortunately as soon as I sold the Triumph, the Bullet got lonely and started acting like even more of a bar steward than normal, so I ended up without a working motorcycle for quite a while 🤬 I totally understand your reasons and if Mrs SB is up for pillion adventures then that is one more ( very witty ) reason to get something more suitable for two 👍🏻 Good luck with selling Nikita and finding the right bike to replace her. Cheers Jeff 👍🏻 ER & Rubita 🐕
Ah it’s nice to hear from someone that understands 🙂 Hopefully Ernie doesn’t get too upset. He still has the witch by his side, so they can console each other. It’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m sure it’s the right decision and I’m looking forward to a new chapter, in which Mrs SB and I can enjoy more miles together. All the best ER and Rubita 😍 Many thanks 🙏🏻🍻
@@Saddlebags73 No, I am sure Ernie will be fine because, as you say, he still has company and most importantly was properly made in the first place ( unlike my Bullet which was almost certainly thrown together with much distain, sticky tape and velcro, on a hungover Monday morning 🤬 ). Ernie will be fine, as will The Witch 🙂 I have two bikes to clean this weekend, which is depressing and I've already ascertained that it won't be happening today, so looks like tomorrow then ! Oh well, it's too hot for riding them, might as well get them clean again ! You get a couple of mentions in Tuesday's new video by the way. It's your own fault for being such an entertaining and helpful chap 😛 Enjoy the weekend SB ! Cheers, El Otro y Rubita
Urgh, I had two to clean last weekend. Just the one today, although the others have been used since 😏 I don’t get much pleasure from the process, but the end result is satisfying. Ooh, mentions? How nice of you. Now I’m intrigued 🙂 Hasta luego El Otro y Rubita 👋🏼
That is one lovely bike, definitely my type of machine. I do get your reason for selling if you want better touring and two up ability. Think it will command top price with that sticker on the fender extender..... super rare. Want a super impractical bike? Let me recommend an MT10 😉
It is a lovely bike, and it’ll be sad to see her go. But it no longer meets my requirements, so it’s time for a change. I’d love a blast on an MT10, just to scare myself. But definitely not the bike to replace Nikita. I’m actually going to advertise the sticker for £10k, and say it comes with a free Z900rs 🙂 Thanks Bandit 👍🏼
Totally get where you’re coming from, safety is #1 and if you find she makes you ride otherwise it’s not the best bike for you. I think the 900RS is a fabulous all round machine but I wouldn’t buy one for the same reason, my W800 Cafe suits better and I feel totally safe whilst having enough fun to keep her especially after ditching the awful OEM tires. Happy hunting..
Thank you kindly. Yes it’s an amazing bike but it brings out the devil in me. I have a Royal Enfield Classic 500 which is great fun within the speed limits, like you with your W800. Still looking for the right bike for 2-up. Tried a cruiser but I’ll be moving it on. Thanks again 👍🏼
You want a nice big, comfortable bike for longer trips for you and the missus? You want to still feel like a _bad boy,_ but at a slightly slower pace? Get a Harley with a comfy seat and a large and still sporty wind shield. My Electra Glide was my answer and I also have a KTM and a RE in the garage for shorter spurts. Thanks, S
Many thanks S. It so happens that I’m thinking something along those lines. Probably not a Harley, but I’m not ruling anything out at the moment. Nice collection! Thanks again and take care 👍🏼
If it were in that exceptional Green/Gold paint scheme I would be more than happy to take it off your hands. Too many young guys selling modded to hell RS's in my area.
It’s a hard call to make. You have some great memories of Nikita but now it’s time for both of you to move on. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Did I mention that I am putting my Tiger 800 up for sale in a week or two! Don’t worry, Primero Mermelado is staying with me.
Yes it’ll be very sad to see her go, but I’ve had a great experience with Nikita. I’d like to keep her but she doesn’t meet my requirements now. No, I didn’t know you were selling the Tiger 😮 Are you changing it for another bike or just going to have the Bullet? As long as Primero Mermelado is safe 🤣👍🏼
Superb video as always, I think a lot of the trouble us bikers have is that we get attached to our bikes, almost build a relationship with them. This makes it so much harder to part ways. I've never had the same feelings about changing cars. If the time is right to change, you'll know its right, can't wait to see the next addition to the garage 👍
Thank you kindly! Yes I’m quite attached to Nikita, which is silly, it’s just a bike. And like you, I’ve never had that with a car. It’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks again, take care out there 👍🏼
So many positive waves, SB, and you're flogging her off. I do understand though and as the old adage goes: 'Parting is such sweet sorrow', or something like that. The Booster Plug is a well proven device for sorting out the snatchy throttle and hot running.
I’m not flogging her off. I’m finding her a good home 🤣 I hadn’t thought of a booster plug for the Z. Yes that would probably help, although I don’t feel like any issues needed addressing with mine. But these new bikes are running super lean, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Thanks Jim 👍🏼
Now that your dumping her, if you don't mind me saying...I'd definitely through my leg over that...Almost as much as I would the lady on the wee cruiser on Noobiker's vid! ❤️👍😎
I’m not “dumping her”, or “flogging her off” as someone else suggested 🤣 I’m finding her a good home 🤪 Hahaa, yes. Copy that, loud and clear 😛 Thanks Diehard 🙂👍🏼
I love big bikes. I love naked bikes. But I learned a while ago that a big naked bike is useless for me as I can’t go any faster than on a middleweight because I’m just too weak. Both strength of muscle and discipline 😂. Plus riding a lot on BMW RT’s over the past 5 years has highlighted one major issue for me. They’re not at their best until you’ve got the wrong side of the speed limits. I’ve come to learn that they’ll cost me a lot more to run while actually not being able to really enjoy their talents. That’s why I’m getting more pleasure from riding smaller machines. But I do miss my Harley, Bonnie and ZZR11. I always will. It’s a tough thing. I REALLY want a Ducati street fighter but it must never happen. Never. Ever.
I'll take the 900 rs over any bike u can put a windshield on it for open road, heat grips Oxford or kaw, ecu flash, u can even put settle bags on the back, I must have that chrome bar on back of seat, I allways used a 90° weight gear oil on my chain it works perfect, never use greese it does. Not penetrate the rollers on chain,I ues carasine to often clean the chain with brush dry and put on oil with a cloth , I like shell gas second I take Chevron remember to run your reserve once in awale to get rid of Any old gas ,gas over time 4 months or more can go bad and may cause problems, sliders are good to put on, and remember to take your time in the mountains and country had a friend that hit a deer and survive I went thru a few dogs in my time, some of the old riders wear some patchouli oil for added protection Remenber to check chain 1/4 inch up and down slack I have met new guys that chain was so loose it could have jump the sprokets and lock up the wheel ,u have to be alert and on your toes and stopl playing show off popping wheelies take care of your bike and bond with it, it will love u more when u open it up and go fast , except not to much in the city , all and all it will last u a life time and then some🧝💃🌴☀️🇯🇪🏴☠️🌟⛈️🌃🔥☀️🦄
Picking up my 2024 Z900RS next week. I live in a very windy area of wide open spaces (Wyoming) so I'm desperate to find a nice looking windscreen that offers good protection on the highway. So far I’ve only seen small screens or ill fitting larger “universal” screens that don’t look right on the bike. Anyone have some experience trying different screens and finding the best protection?
Ah very nice. They are gorgeous bikes and I do miss mine in some ways. There is another TH-camr ‘Flat Cap Cafe Racer’ that has an RS and I believe he is going to experiment with screens. It might be worth following him to see if he comes up with anything. Sometimes no screen is better than dealing with the buffeting from a screen that doesn’t work well. Good luck and enjoy the bike 👍🏼
Beautiful bike, the Z900rs, I shall miss her. I have a couple of bikes in mind, but more going down the cruiser/bagger route. I know the v strom is good one though. Many thanks 👍🏼
I know that you hate to sell it, but..if you rarely get to ride it, then why pay for it to sit. Upright naked bikes are definitely fun, but not great for eating a lot of miles with a pillion. I say get the bike you really want and use!! Good video Saddlebags!!
Yes it’ll be sad to see her go, but she no longer meets my needs. Time for a new chapter, which I’m looking forward to. Many thanks Kode, I appreciate your support 👍🏼
lot of riders report no throttle issues from 2020 models+ Looks like Kawasaki fixed something. To be honest your reasons of selling the bike is superficial. There is really no issues. Some quarks are expected from ANY bike.I rode VFR800 and that really runs hot due to gear driven cams even then fan kicked in no problems.
I did explain that none of the common complaints, ie snatchy throttle, running hot etc. had any bearing on my decision to sell. None of those things bothered me. Had any of those things been an issue I would have had an ecu flash. My reasons for selling were the expense of upkeep for a bike I get little use from. And wanting a bike more comfortable for the better half.
I also was sorely tempted by the Z900RS but avoided it due to the reasons you have stated. I also considered it's more sporty more touring focused big brother the Z1000sx, but in the end the ZZR 1400 covered all my bases. Sure it tempts you to be throttle happy but it's also happy tootling along with a pillion in smoothness and comfort. I'm seriously intrigued to find out what the filler bike is and also what you plump for as a two up tourer ?
Ah the ZZR & GTR have crossed my mind actually. But still a bit too sports orientated for me. The ZZR’s are gorgeous though. Many thanks Grey Wolf. It’ll be sad to see Nikita go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter 👍🏼
I know I’m late to the vid here - but why in the world would you care that it idles at 2k for a bit on cold start? It’s warming up. Then it settles back nicely to regular idle. I just don’t get this as a legit complaint about the bike.
Hi 👋🏼 It never concerned me, but I have read lots of complaints in comment sections and forums. People worrying that the bike is idling too fast before the oil is distributed. No different to traditional choke really.
Well, you,re going to miss her. I have mine since 2018, and i Ride 600 miles a day everytime i go for a ride, no worries, no pain, just a big smile até the end of the day... You see theres nothing like this amazing bike, does everithing right. I have another bike, the ninja 1000sx for bigger rides, like when i go on an european tour, for instance to Italy, or sicily, then i Ride the ninja, otherwhise i always Ride the RS. It has a extemelly good triangle, you can standride it, and the música of the induction os unique... Sounds like space shutle. I Ride 100-120 km per hour, so it doesn't get windy, and i've mounted a puig screen smoked That looks great. Don't do it. You re gonna miss her.
I will miss her, 100%. It is a fantastic bike and Kawasaki got everything just right. It sounds like you get a lot more use out of yours. The induction sound really is incredible. And perhaps partly responsible for the urge to keep winding the throttle back. It will be very sad to see her go, but at least I have enjoyed the experience. It’s time now to cater for my pillion and enjoy some long rides together. The rs rides well with a passenger, but comfort is limited. Many thanks Pedro. Keep racking the miles up, enjoy, and be safe 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 thanks a lot, why don't you try the ninja 1000sx, its an excellent bike, very confortable for both you and your pillion, full of security tech, you can go all around the world on it, and at the end of the day, no fatigue at all. Great design, engine fabulous, and the price Kills anything else you want to buy. Please just don't buy an horrible BMW GS, with the motor close to your tibias, and disgusting design, looks like and hawk without feathers... Kawasaki always. Ride safe, love your videos. Pedro
@@Saddlebags73 well saddlebags. It hapens That i've previosly owned a vulcan s , its a wonderfull bike, very easy to Ride, and very confortable, the only problem i had with her was when trying to relief the bottom and stand of the saddle its Impossible, you see i Ride for more than 600kms a day and i never stop, just for fuelling and then up on the saddle again, só sometimes is good to Ride standing and with That triangle with the legs standing forward its Impossible. Thats One of the reasons i changed for the RS, now the vulcan s average is about 3l per 100 km, wich gives you an excellent range, very economic, and the motor is a surprise after 5000 revs, looks like turbo, because of the sistem of opening one extra butterfly valve per cilynder . you should try her. Goodluck with your choice. Pedro
I do like a ninja, but too sports orientated. I think I need a big ole Harley 😉 Not this Sunday, but next Sunday will be a real treat for the pram cam fans 🤪 Many thanks RHC 🙏🏼👍🏼
How old are you sir? Asking to get a feel for your needs of a bike. I recently entered my 30's and had to switch a CBR600RR for something with better ergonomics. Riding an Indian Scout but I don't believe I'm ready for the cruiser world so considering the z900rs.
Hello! I’m 48, and believe I am ready for a cruiser. A triumph rocket touring, Kawasaki voyager custom/classic, something along those lines. In my opinion the z900rs is the perfect stop between sports and cruiser. It isn’t sports bike fast, but it’s quick enough and handles nicely even though a little soft from factory. If you aren’t worried about wind protection, I reckon it would work for you. Or the cafe version would offer some protection with the screen.
@@Saddlebags73 yeah I think I jumped the gun and a decade too soon. Lol Both the rocket and voyager are badass looking bikes. Would probably come down to which has better features and styling. Or a new or used Honda Goldwing?
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts, feelings and evapuations. Personally I agree with all of them and I am growing the same decision to sell It for an easier bike. I am thinking about an 2011 BMW r 1200 r, but i have doubt about the costs of maintainance. What do you think?
Thanks to you for watching. The cost of parts is the only thing that deters me from BMW. BUT, they don’t go wrong very often, and basic maintenance could be carried out at home. So I wouldn’t rule one out myself. I’m more likely to buy a big bagger at the moment though. Best of luck with whatever you decide 👍🏼
It’s funny because I’ve owned a 2018 z900rs for about 3 years now, 25k miles , and it’s great for day rides around San Diego. However, I’ve been fantasizing about taking longer trips, and after researching, I test rode a 2014 r1200r from a local bmw dealership and loved it. Obviously a totally different ride with that agricultural boxer engine, but it handles great and has some get up and go when you need it, and very comfortable for me at 5’5”, 155 lbs, 64 years old. Just make sure there’s NO LEAKS, and it shows pride of ownership. Shaft drive is low maintenance and engine is reliable/ durable. I’m so tempted as they have lowered the price from 8k to 7k, with only 23k miles on it! Doesn’t that sound like a good deal?! However, I already have 2 motorcycles, and I’m not sure I’d do a lot of long distance riding. I will probably rent a Triumph 900 GT pro, since I can’t find a BMW, and test myself first. Good luck in your search. Ride safe 😎🏍️
It’s been nearly 3 years since I sold my 955 Daytona for similar reasons. You’ve just made all the pain come flooding back. All that therapy wasted. You’ll be fine though. Probably. 😉
That changes daily. I’ve considered a Vulcan 1700 touring, ZZR 1400, all sorts. I have another bike to fix up and sell, before I start having a serious look around.
As I said in the video, those are common complaints, but I haven’t had any issues with it. I have never felt it needed a tune. My only issues are the cost of keeping a bike that I do so few miles on, and that it isn’t great for long trips with a pillion.
well , = this is terrible news ;;; and without consulting me ,,, i will consider what i will let you do ,====== , i have been looking at these makitas from a kawasaki dealer that has a softail harley i am looking at and is twice the price , and is rubbish ,=== but having fun on a bike that is low horsepower and heavy, relying on torque and the feel , and looks rather than blasting about where no one can see you until you bin it... the harley makes sense [ ish] take heed that ALL roads in wales are being speed reduced by 10 mph with england to follow suit . cruisers it is = or prison ;;; then ..
🤣🤣🤣 please accept my apologies 🙏🏼 You are on the money though. Lower powered bikes are fun without the level of danger on a Makita 🤣 Sad times ahead for motorcycling. We’ll all be on e bikes soon 😢
One door is closing and I have no doubht a better door is opening. Its a tad emotional but a step in the right direction. Someone will get the joy you did from her. Goodluck with your future plans. And thanks for the great videos Nikita and keeping my mate safe and not fu*King dying. Xxx
Hi, I thought when the cover D F D appeared on the B master cylinder , ah, he going through a change of life ? . Will SB go for a BMW SOFA 3 piece .?🤨
@@allsearpw3829 Who knows mate, what ever he picks ,its got to be said he has class taste in bikes. I'm looking forward to the next .
🤣 Thanks ER, and yes thanks, Nikita 🙏🏻
Great information, thank you very much.
She’s gone now but it was an amazing bike.
Ride safe 👍🏼
Thank you kindly Quinn 🙏🏼
It’s going to be very difficult to let this one go, but it doesn’t meet my requirements any longer.
Now it almost feels like fate 🤣
I hope the GS serve’s you well.
Probably the best video of yours I have seen makes perfect sense to those of us who moved on from a much loved bike.
That’s very kind. Thank you Flat Cap 🙏🏻👍🏼
They never bothered me either. Loved the bike. I miss it actually.
Very pleasant and emotionnal way to present a rather "rationnal" decision 😪.
Every time I had to switch for another bike, I found very good reasons for, but always with "a little pinch in the heart"
Many thanks.
@@Saddlebags73 Exactly. It is time for something new.😀
Im sorry but you bought a naked and then complain about the lack of wind protection is simply silly.
Not at all. When I bought the bike it was perfect for my needs. Over time my needs/wants/desires changed. That happens, you know 🤦🏻♂️
I live in the State of Az in the USA I have a 2018 Z900 Rs Cafe and Ive never had a problem with it running hot.
The sound of the induction howl on the RS is addictive, but before you know it, you’re on the speed limit 😉
I’m quite happy pottering around on the Enfield’s.
Many thanks DB, give me a shout if you ever need talking out of anything silly 😝
All the best 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Thanks but you forget I've got the "Duchess" to talk me out of things! She can be very persuasive.
Pah haa 🤣 yes, of course 🥴
Added a Corbin gunfighter seat, while not pretty does double my riding comfort
Added a chic windscreen that allows me to cruise at 80mph and feel very little wind, just a bit on my head.
If I can find some quick detach saddlebags I may be poised to turn this into full touring
I’ll be sad to see her go, your channel is what turned me on to the z but we all must at some point.
Been considering selling my DRZ for similar reasons....I should've named it Mr Hyde ;)
Best of luck with the new bikes mate, RS.
I love your break hydaraulic oil tank cover! need to keep reminding myself!
Hahaa well spotted 🙂👍🏼
When we're young, we want to go short distances....fast !! Now we want longer distances and taking our damn time getting there. lol. Can't wait to see the future bike. :)

A shame but the same reasons why I sold my TheuxtonR 3 years ago.
Looking forward to seeing her replacement.
Ah yes, then you understand 🙂
It will be sad to see her go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

I had exactly the same problem and for all the same reasons, Kevin, my Z900RS Cafe had to go. A sad day but the right decision, least for me it was. 😊 Great video as usual.

Sounds like a Ninja1000sx is the bike you need! I had one, sorry to see it go but put it in for the RS. Bit of a wait but winter's here, so happy day!

Yes, different bikes invite you to ride differently don’t they. I’m not a speed freak any more, and quite happy bimbling around on the Classic. But anything sports orientated makes it tempting.
Thank you kindly Janner. Take care me ansom 👍🏼

I relate on the high engine temperature, my sprint runs at 105 degrees standard, in this recent weather it’s been running much hotter 🤦♂️
Never rode one but it sounds like a lot of the fundamentals aren’t that great, however at least it has that Japanese reliability.
I’m sure she’ll go to a good home and you’ll get a great replacement 🤘
Great video mate, hope you’re well
A lot of these modern bikes are just running too lean. That accounts for some of the issues. The complaints I mentioned about the Z900rs aren’t really relevant to mine, but are quite commonly talked about on the owners forums, so there must be something to it.
Yes I hope she goes to a good home. She deserves it 🙂
Thank you mate.
BMW GS, No! Closer with the bagger 😉
I won’t be replacing Nikita with a brand new bike though.
Haha yes the sheep 🤣 bah bah!
Thanks Pike 👍🏼
This is exactly why i have a Z1000SX as well as my Z900RS..... Good luck bro!
A very nice pair of bikes indeed. I think I would find the SX too sports orientated, and still be left with the same dilemmas. Many thanks my friend 👍🏼
I'm going down tbe same route. I have a Z1000SX, and a Yellowball Z900RS SE on order for March next year ! Whoop !
Good one mate 👍 there just bikes hey I never get to attached to any bikes Ive owned over the years life is to short 👍👍👍
Thank you mate. I must admit I have got attached to this one, which is stupid. It is just a bike after all. Looking forward to the next chapter though. Thanks again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I feel that devil maker even with my versys 650. Only fun to ride fast, I wonder if one day I’ll make the same decision
Or you may learn to control yourself. That’s what I find difficult 🤣
Yes, it’ll be very sad, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks Solo 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 cannot wait to see your new one 👍👍👍👍
I wanted to devote more time to my Bullet 500 at the time but unfortunately as soon as I sold the Triumph, the Bullet got lonely and started acting like even more of a bar steward than normal, so I ended up without a working motorcycle for quite a while 🤬
I totally understand your reasons and if Mrs SB is up for pillion adventures then that is one more ( very witty ) reason to get something more suitable for two 👍🏻
Good luck with selling Nikita and finding the right bike to replace her.
Cheers Jeff 👍🏻
ER & Rubita 🐕
Ah it’s nice to hear from someone that understands 🙂
Hopefully Ernie doesn’t get too upset. He still has the witch by his side, so they can console each other.

All the best ER and Rubita 😍
Many thanks 🙏🏻🍻
@@Saddlebags73 No, I am sure Ernie will be fine because, as you say, he still has company and most importantly was properly made in the first place ( unlike my Bullet which was almost certainly thrown together with much distain, sticky tape and velcro, on a hungover Monday morning 🤬 ). Ernie will be fine, as will The Witch 🙂
I have two bikes to clean this weekend, which is depressing and I've already ascertained that it won't be happening today, so looks like tomorrow then ! Oh well, it's too hot for riding them, might as well get them clean again !

I’m actually going to advertise the sticker for £10k, and say it comes with a free Z900rs 🙂

Superb video as always, I think a lot of the trouble us bikers have is that we get attached to our bikes, almost build a relationship with them. This makes it so much harder to part ways.

So many positive waves, SB, and you're flogging her off. I do understand though and as the old adage goes: 'Parting is such sweet sorrow', or something like that.
The Booster Plug is a well proven device for sorting out the snatchy throttle and hot running.
I’m not flogging her off. I’m finding her a good home 🤣
I hadn’t thought of a booster plug for the Z. Yes that would probably help, although I don’t feel like any issues needed addressing with mine. But these new bikes are running super lean, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Plus riding a lot on BMW RT’s over the past 5 years has highlighted one major issue for me. They’re not at their best until you’ve got the wrong side of the speed limits.
I’ve come to learn that they’ll cost me a lot more to run while actually not being able to really enjoy their talents.

It might be worth following him to see if he comes up with anything.

lot of riders report no throttle issues from 2020 models+ Looks like Kawasaki fixed something.
Great video.Rember the newer model might be alot better if you end up regretting it.So many bikes to choose from but go with your heart.

I will miss her, 100%. It is a fantastic bike and Kawasaki got everything just right. It sounds like you get a lot more use out of yours.
The induction sound really is incredible. And perhaps partly responsible for the urge to keep winding the throttle back.

Lol

Probably. 😉
Oh dear 😱 Sorry for your loss 🤣👍🏼
Did you buy a new bike ?
@@Fee.1 Not sure if your question's for Jeff or me, but I sold the 955 and an 865 Bonneville to fund an R9T. Very happy with it.
@@paulstredwick oh my now I see why you needed therapy
@@Fee.1 🤣
dont roll the throttle forward its damaging...lower the cold idle speed
Okay. Can I ask how it’s damaging?
@@Saddlebags73 its been discussed on the owners forums,,apparently it can bend the throttle linkage and damage the throttle sensor
Thank you! Seems feasible 👍🏼
So what bikes are you looking at getting?
That changes daily. I’ve considered a Vulcan 1700 touring, ZZR 1400, all sorts. I have another bike to fix up and sell, before I start having a serious look around.
Bye, bye Natika it's been a blast!
It really has been a blast. Thanks Mark 👍🏼
Im looking to trade my 2011 Yamaha Raider in on a z900rs cafe.
You’ll love it I’m sure. Gorgeous bikes and nice to ride. Enjoy 👍🏼
Heartbreaking💔😭
I admit, yes a little bit 🥴
Very Sad but yes it’s the right thing to do 🤔by by 😳
Thanks AR! Yes it’ll be sad to see her go, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter. I’m certain it’s the right decision.
Take care and bah bah 🤪
@@Saddlebags73 looking forward to the next chapter it’s very exciting fanbloodytastic 👍
Why didn't you get the motorcycle tuned? That would fix your first three issues. Instead of complaining, fix the issue. Or sell it.. :)
As I said in the video, those are common complaints, but I haven’t had any issues with it. I have never felt it needed a tune. My only issues are the cost of keeping a bike that I do so few miles on, and that it isn’t great for long trips with a pillion.
Ok, that works. I hope you find something that fits you better.
@@cking769 Thank you 👍🏼
God bless Nikita
🙂 thanks mate 👍🏼
🏍️💧
👍🏼
you don't sell your bikes, you buy another...
Ran out of space 🤦🏻♂️
Sell? You will regret it very soon after...
I sold her over a year ago now. No regrets as such, but I do miss her. One of those bikes that I think I always will.
Many thanks for watching 👍🏼
Why sell it when you can give it to me
😂😂😂
well , = this is terrible news ;;; and without consulting me ,,, i will consider what i will let you do ,====== , i have been looking at these makitas from a kawasaki dealer that has a softail harley i am looking at and is twice the price , and is rubbish ,=== but having fun on a bike that is low horsepower and heavy, relying on torque and the feel , and looks rather than blasting about where no one can see you until you bin it... the harley makes sense [ ish] take heed that ALL roads in wales are being speed reduced by 10 mph with england to follow suit . cruisers it is = or prison ;;; then ..
🤣🤣🤣 please accept my apologies 🙏🏼
You are on the money though. Lower powered bikes are fun without the level of danger on a Makita 🤣
Sad times ahead for motorcycling. We’ll all be on e bikes soon 😢
Bah bah, 900RS
🤣 sadly, yes 😢
