    I have a "National" and it works exactly like the Stanley, very frustrated at first but the small twist clockwise worked great, then counterclockwise. I only found brand new out of the package it was very hard to initially get it to move because they had it tensioned so hard from the factory, after that it is a breeze. Thank you.

    Sir thank you so much. You were right about having to go clockwise just a smidgen before you can turn it counter clockwise. Much appreciated.

    My issue was that the instructions showed removing the little lock pin, so without being able to do that, I didn't even bother reading the rest of the instructions. After watching your video, I now understand the following instructions and can say that removing the lock pin is unnecessary.
    Now to figure out how to get rid of the creak!

      Try a little bit of lubricant:

      Not a guarantee but it always makes it a little bit better.

    Thanks! I'd forgotten how to adjust these hinges that I installed ~15 years ago. Of course I have the instructions... someplace.

      Tjhank you for the comment . After 15 years the hinges still work perfectly I imagine? Rich

      @@absupplynet Yes, however I have 2 self-closing hinges on this door now (garage); originally there was only one which broke after about 7-8 years.

      @@1952mdmcc Probably the top hinge broke. Never put a spring hinge in the top position. Swap the other two hinges every 5 years.

    I have a national hardware one that looks very similar but this does not seem to work on it. The instructions only say how to tighten it

    • @absupplynet
      @absupplynet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you tried the oppositwe of the "tightening" procedure to loosen the spring tension? If yes, did it work?
