Coming from a former FC3S owner, first thing I did was order an aftermarket radiator then switch to electric fans. Then an intercooler and last was an oil cooler.
You need to buy an aftermarket intercooler and oil cooler as well, keeps the temps down while you drive it a lot! Can’t wait to see you at wekfest, i hope this year is the best one so far.
1. Completely flush the coolant about 3 times till it's crystal clear 2. Aftermarket radiator, with fan unless you wanna run a stock fan 3. High flow thermostat 4. Oil coolant 5. Make sure the gasket is in good condition might have leak. This should solve your over heating problem

You should get aftermarket gauges for water temp etc, the stock one is pretty useless. Also a Miata thermoswitch seems useful to turn the fans on earlier. Basically you don't wanna overheat cause the cars kinda fucked if you do; overheating means the water seals are gonna let coolant into the motor and you have to rebuild it to get it fixed.
Make sure you burp all the air out of the water cooling system and always top up at the filler neck before warming up the car. Get water temp gauge or install a power fc and monitor the water temp with the hand controller as well as a lot of other sensors. You can force the fans to come on if you turn on the ac.
If it’s hot where you live could be more anti freeze needed water pump or water hoses then if not look at your water pump or radiator hope this helps !
For your overheating issues. Replace your water pump to a newer FD waterpump from IR performance, replace radiator with a koyo N-flow, replace AST with an aluminum AST or eliminate it all together. These are your basic firsts. Next will be adding an Apexi Power FC and controlling at what temp the fans will turn on. 10yr owned, Single turbo FD from Stockton, Ca :-)
make sure all the fluids are up with no air bubbles in the coolant system. I could have mine idling and driving for hours and it would even come close to overheating and it had all stock rad, thermostat, and fans. if that's not the case then there is something wrong weather your fans aren't kicking on or the coolant seals in the motor are done.
If it overheats while its it's idling or in traffic, the radiator isn't getting enough airflow so thats why the fan helps with the parking lights. You might as well replace your thermostat and water pump and bleed your coolant again.
Get an aftermarket thermostat or a lot of guys will go with the turbo ll FC thermostat. It’s drop the temps. And an aftermarket radiator would help as well
Check make and female connectors if still having problems with over heating also check fan and enough coolant and are you 100% positive it is a stock engine ?
