@@epiccrik4521 just... put down some quays defining the area (with wharves, etc.) and then put down some buildings and connect it all up with roads, as well as adding in some rail connections. There is not one design for a port that works in every area; you have to work with the land you have so I don't see how a tutorial of how to build a specific port area would be useful as every port is different. Far more useful are the tips on traffic management that are covered in this video.
This looks very beautiful. :-) Next DLC should be a harbour dlc with more types of ports (oil terminal, iron ore terminal, coal, food etc) and car ferries. Don't need the cars to drive on the ferries but make the lines were the cars are waiting and a suiteble car dock area (and when a ship docks cars starts to "despawn" 1 after the other, from the front to the back.) (Stena Line; Swe, Vikink Line and Silja Line/Tallink Fin, Color Line, Nor etc) Thank you for this amazing video and thank you Cities Skylines and the team behind this fantastic game.
Just one question: I could never imagine building such a thing in the game, because whenever I put down multiple harbours in the same area, all traffic is just going to one of them, resulting in a large vehicle queue and all other harbours are running empty.
Normally you have one for inner city use only and the other designated only for things coming in and out of the city. Cargo comes in one dock, reloaded into another to be shipped or loaded onto a train to a further part of the city.
Yup. This is a pretty piss poor tutorial. Seems like this guy just tired to push out a video and get paid cause there's a lot of things wrong here. However, to make this work, you will need a mod called "Adjust Pathfinding [BETA]". This will allow you to separate the traffic to multiple harbors. Please note, this only works on PC.
easy way to fix vehicle not crossing over at each other on ports and train stations is the 2 way median road. works on normal industrie areas too they will have to go around the block on tight grid layout but that can be fixed with an small round about once in while.
0:40 Blue ship: Hey, why don't you other harbor? Green ship: No, this one is the nearest. Blue ship: But this ones is occupile. Green ship: Cities: Skylines logic, who care :) We all just using one harbor.
Nice tips. It does feel like its been awhile since we had a Cities Skylines x Sam tutorial, ever since that weird, random outburst a couple months ago.
I've used two hubs next to each other and it worked, but the ships chose one or the other depending on the direction the train it spawns leaves the hub (so this might not work when the train track ends at the two hubs). In other words, if trains can leave in both directions, they will use the hub closest to that direction, at least in my experience.
Good tips but not really a building tutorial. I wanna know how you got things to look like that: smooth edges near the water, beautiful road medians, what assets did you use from the workshop?
There are certainly a few mods which are helpful (Move It!, Quay Anarchy, Road Anarchy/Fine Road Tools, etc.), but beyond that the only advice I can offer is to just make it look good. If you want a good-looking city, you have to *want* a good-looking city. Don't be content with a half-arsed attempt at something. Some advice that might seem more helpful is to look at real-life cities and landscapes. Beyond the limitations of the game (which are overcome by the mods I mentioned), the only difference in two people's builds is how much of a perfectionist the two people are. As long as you understand what things look like in the real world and how they work (which can only be found on your own really), just put in the effort and you will get results. Sorry if this comes across as rude or condescending but that's all there really is to it -- effort. There will always be things that you are not quite happy with; you might even get bored of your whole city and start again with a new one, but you just have to make sure you're happy with something after you've finished building it. If you're not, then why call it 'finished'. I guess perfectionism is key.
not necesarily if you want the containers yes but adding industries warehouses and silos can still add a realistic effect you would need an anarchy mod for some of the finer details like the roads and fences close to the quays but leaving some space will still look fine
Honestly best way to deal with cargo is Put roads with bike lanes. Set policy encourage biking. And fix cargo mod. 150k city with 4 towns city works like a charm. And still on 15600. Vehicles all industries on. Services working.
What's your favorite way of solving cargo traffic?
Add more cargo harbor
One way roads, with connections to cargo trains and highways, which then connect to the rest of the city or to outer regions.
Removing the cargo harbor.
Can't worry about cargo traffic if you don't have one. 😂
Cities: Skylines Official just fix the crashing thingie on ps4 pls..
Subscribing to the "Cargo Hold Fix" mod on the steam workshop xD
Suggestion: Please show us *how* we should build this, not only some pictures and talking.
Just visit his channel there he always shows how exactly to build lol (If you're interested in copying only instead of making your own art lol)
@@General_T I don't want to copy, I'd like to see how we build it so I can try to reduce it's scale and use less assets.

Good idea indeed
Well you were 3.6% right, not great, not terrible.
Nice one Sam 👍
You always have lane mathematics. Sam never does it and I saw many of his cities with quite a bit of traffic

Don't have the cargo stations connected to the same areas.
Just activate the one who's at the end. The cars will drive through the hole port and it will look like every terminal is used.
Cities Skylines... the only game that I genuinely feel the need of a new dlc! Other games can't relate to this anymore 😅

I like the "drive thru" bridges.I see that everywhere.

Honestly, sam's designs are the most realistic while preserving the playability of the game! He doesn't sculpt a city he actually makes one! 👌🏼👌🏼
Damn I thought Sam bur's voice was nice before. But this is hypnotic.

Could you please mention what mods are used here ? It looks very nice !
How did you manage to change the default road attached to the cargo harbor asset ? Thanks !
What mods do you use for seawalls?
Nice tips, should come in very useful.
What train station is that where there are two tunnels with blue inside? Looks great
Where are the Harbors with rail tracks? Are they in a DLC?
Not Industries, After Dark
what assets are those container storage parts? maybe a link to them on steam?
We need some bridges that can elevate automatically now!
Can we have a modlist? Please
As always, Sam does it better.
I enjoyed this tutorial, thanks Sam. The lighting was really good as well Laurie
Is there going to be tutorials on how to make assets for someone who would like too ?
What's the container yard seen in the video on the Workshop?
harbourPack by vip
2:36 how do you seperate the roads like that?
What is the mod he used to change vanilla cargo harbour road from 2 ways direction to one side?
Touch This mod I believe
The PC version seems amazing, but the console version that I have lacks many of these items. Are you planning on give the console versions any love?
Imperatur has by far the best non-modded tutorials in the business. I highly recommend his channel for console players.
Which sea wall is that
oh, cargo containers, is there any mod for that? I searched the workshop but I can't find one proper mod to fit in large areas, like in the video :(
My ps4 keeps saying must be placed on shore line i have done everything but is does not take it🤬
Can I build the same thing without mods?)
That's it. The verdict is in. Sam Burr is a Cities:Skylines BEAST and not a bad trainer either.
GREAT! AWESOME~!
I don't see the point in putting hubs next to each other. Sims just use the closest one and ignore the rest.

What I never see in these videos, is people using flood walls. Quays yes. Never flood walls. Wouldn't mind some ideas on how to use flood walls.
