This tutorial uses no mods and is recorded on PC. It's applicable for Xbox, PS4, and Switch users.

@@CitiesSkylines Im not sure where to ask you this but, will you ever make a even better cities skylines, maybe a sequel, more pricey but has better simulation and bigger maps for a more epic gamer experience? And I think it'll sell well considering everyone currently uses mods for traffic and stuff, they wont have to if its included in the game, but keep the steam workshop cuz its probably the best thing that happenned to the game, sharable assets is a necessity for it to be successful this'll be the ultimate cities skylines. Plus youtube would be booming with videos of it. Anyway, i was just wondering if you were thinking about it. Cuz i would personally buy 10 copies. :) I think we can wait couple of years before you make this cuz right now, dlc are enough in my opinion but still

Ah, that's what you get with the "highrise ban" policy. Thanks, I'd not seen a worked example or used it in my own cities before.
Marking buildings historical is more tedious, but allows for the building to reach level 5, don’t need a separate district, and allows for more control. That’s why I do that instead
I always enjoy the background music in Sam's videos. Using low to medium to high density to make realistic downtowns is something I've been doing for a while and is a great tip.
In before long "Excuse me???" when saw somethings wonky/badly design roads.
Anyway, nice tips and tricks.
it just occurred to me that the water is currently a place that is really underutilized in games. We have some power buildings that can be placed on water and stuff for the coast line, such as some parks, mining vessels etc but not much actual on water development.
I'd kinda like to see the following
Piers: basically pathways to draw on the water, except with specialized zoning allowing us to low density zone or place other stuff.
Pier shops: piers like Pier 39 from San Fransisco have a lot of shops and stuff on them, it'd be nice to place these shops on the piers, or at least give them low density commercial.
Houseboats: like the shops but for low density housing.
Fishing: both industries style and zoneable industry for piers.
Jetties: Allow civilian boats to populate the water ways (possibly add a sort of 'water highway' for them to use)
The After Dark DLC has several water assets as part of its leisure and tourism focus! From piers and little marinas, to fishing and coffee shop platforms that sit detatched slightly offshore, they can be really pretty used with ferries from the mass transit DLC (which adds ferry stops and water highways that ferries use as you say).
I like the idea for a zonable fishing industry, though, giving the player a lot more tools for custom marinas and things would be fun.

I always just put high rise ban on the entire city, then deselect it in the areas where I want taller buildings. I also like to scatter offices though, typically at intersections of major roads or along highways, because offices don't look that dense unless they are high rise.

Another tip: look at the downtowns of cities nearest you! If you aren’t building/working on one like those, go find one in a place that’s similar to the look that you’re going for.
Could there be maybe next a tutorial, about how to make a beautiful lake that doesnt evaporate, and doesnt require any mods or assets?
You dont need a mod for that, just create a hole in map editor fill with a water source and set height. That going to create an unlimited lake also avoid floodings.
@@integragemi7234 On consoles there is no map editor.
@@pomeranianproductions647 in that case your best chance is use terrain tool, cave a hole and let water in via channel. It works to create lakes also. But only works if terrain tools are avaliable.

3:11 How do you go into that zoning view with no buildings? I am colorblind and I struggle a lot because in my game the zoning view doesn’t remove the buildings, only makes them a bit transparent and I struggle to separate low from high density because the colors are too similar
I love this game on Console but would love for light Pollution to become a factor in the game. And tunnels to be accessible in first person. The game is extremely addictive and ahead of it's time for a city simulation.

Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed watching it. I am in the midst of creating a downtown area, but I want it to have a unique feel to it. I definitely will add plenty of green spaces, pedestrian/bike paths, mass transit, and museums/libraries.
I think downtown should connect directly to the highway because when the population reached more than 100.000, a lot of transportation, commercial and big service buildings cars need to connect other part of the city easily.

I have a city on PS4 with around 80k people and I only use small roads in my downtown and traffic is 70 percent but my main road is 2 lanes seperated (idk what the name of that is) next im going to try to make a city with horrible traffic like LA

What I do I add trams to my downtown district so I can have a place that has a unique area I honestly like the trams better than the bus's

Im curious, one reason why I stopped playing for a bit is that the buildings start to look the same and not as beautiful I have recently bought after dark dlc will that help with beautifying/diversifying the buildings? Or what should I do to make the buildings more uniques? I am fairly new and confused about using Mods. Thanks

4:05 I have no control in that.
When a new level one high density residential building is completed click on it and in the window that pops up you'll have at the bottom of it the ability to select historic building. If you select that it will still upgrade over time but it will remain small.
Pretty sure this is a modded map though right - anyone know what map it is?

@cities skylines official What about downtowns that are built like american cities like New york city or Lexington Kentucky the latter having only a bus network the former being built quite a bit on an island (specifically Manhattan island)
