    Wow! What a beautiful result, Neil. Thanks so much for the demo. The way you integrated the bridge with the surrounding terrain was a joy to watch, my friend. The gentle nuance of the blended edges is perfect! Found myself grinning from ear to ear as you added the moss - crowning glory, dude. 😀
    BTW: Polyform Model Air | Air Dry Clay is my absolute FAVORITE casting clay - because it is so soft it creates very high fidelity castings. A light dusting of Corn Starch in the molds creates the perfect mold release. I like to demold while the clay is still fresh, then adhere them to almost any substrate with a good quality PVA while they are still moist - this way, the castings conform to the contours of the substrate, and will harden in place.

      Thanks Heather!Wow great tips on casting with the poly form clay! I’ll definitely need to be giving that a try. I’ve got my eye on some Hirst Arts molds, definitely going to have to give your method a try when the time comes! Thanks again for stopping by! Love your gothic miniature series you’ve been doing. Been watching all of them and have been meaning to leave some comments on the great work you’ve put into them! I need to do that right off the bat rather than thinking “I’ll do it soon!”🙄. Thanks again for leaving such great feedbac over hear! Always puts a smile on my face😊

      With modern technology it could be done: 3D Scan the miniature or use photogrammetry, import it into a game engine like Unity, then create a VR player controller and scale it to the scale of the miniature.

    What glue were you using to glue the Balsa together? I love using balsa, but I use PVA, that glue looked a little darker to me? :)

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in the construction industry so of course I went with the heavy duty construction adhesive(lol) worrying about the possibility of anything breaking down the road.🙄 I've since abandoned that due to the long cure times. PVA still has me slightly worried about pieces accidentally snapping off over time but I haven't thought of anything as a fast curing replacement yet. I'm thinking of just using wood glue which is basically PVA but a little less diluted from my understanding and more reliable for a strong bond. But yea, going to be ditching the PL Premium I've been using in the above video. Any other recommendations?

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose I should mention the PL Premium glue in this video was actually nice due to it's tackyness and helped when forming the structure of the bridge. I'm thinking of going with a hot glue gun but that always seemed like such a grandma thing to me haha. I'll probably end up adopting it all said and done.😏

    • @epicdungeontiles
      @epicdungeontiles 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been using Wood Glue recently which does seem fairly good, but if I can get a small amount of hot glue and then PVA over the top after that is usually what I do. I'll have to try and use gel super glue, see how that goes! :)

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good idea on the hot glue to tack in place, then pva. I'll have to give that one a go.👍

    Sorry to say something different, but I don't think it's so realistic.
    Don't get me wrong, it looks nice from a distance, and for a fast work it's good. But coming nearer the stones are not very defined. Looking closer the bridge would collapse because the ground stones aren't conical. Maybe that's not important for a first look or for a tabletop game, but when somebody uses the word realism, then it shoud be mentioned.
    Also I miss the details of the inner sidewalls.
    To improve that it would be neccessary to let dry the ground and then afterwards start making the bolster. Letting single steps dry until going on, is a good tipp for general I think. It gives you more time and possibility for pressure and defining details without having the fear to destroy things you already finished

    It doesn't make sense to make a bridge to close a distance between a high and a low spot. In these cases you design a ramp/stair , which has bick steps with incline . Great job in general , techniques etc.
