Your Tutorials on the Space Corridor taught me a lot more than some of my teachers have on lighting, materials, and even poke faces. I am really looking forward to learning from a lot more of your other tutorials. Thank You again for the awesome tutorial
Hi Mike! I just wanted to say thank you for this tutorials...im taking some classes on college and I am learning autodesk maya and your tutorials are basically saving my life! Thanks you so much :)
f53791 Hi there, Lights in Maya contain Real World data so it is important to model to scale when using lights. If you are working in centimeters and your scene is 10 centimeters and you stick a 100 watt lightbulb in there your scene will be blown out, Mike

Hi Vane, I understand what you are asking so your English is fine. What I did ( 29:44 ) is apply Image Based Lighting by adding an HDRI image. I explained this process in this video. Let me know if you have any questions Link to video : th-cam.com/video/KlyOdDHIb6o/w-d-xo.html Regards, Mike
Thanks ! That's right, the end result is always obtained by trial and error. You are aiming for a result and need to keep tweaking until it's there. Mike
I had added you on Linkedin a few weeks ago because I find your tutorials very helpful and they've helped me a long way as a self taught Maya User. I'm doing my best to break into the video game industry as a junior artist/associate artist. I currently have a full city scene that I'm almost done working on. Is there a way I may email you some .jpegs of the scene? I'd really like your input on it. Is that something you'd allow?
I am working on this project and when i rendered the model out, the window texture on the side of the space corridor didnt show so i am wondering what is happening
Mike Hermes yes i did render in mental ray. When i applied the glass material to the sides, the faces on mine doesnt turn dark like your and it just stays in default texture
f53791 If they didn't change color the material hasn't been applied correctly for some reason. Select your object and check the applied material in the Hypershade or Attribute Editor to see if it applied ok. Mike

Hey loved the video.. Would be nice to see one on texturing :) also whats with the HDR files? Image based lighting? I didn't understand what they do?
HDRI images use the light information from the image to illuminate the scene. Check www.hdrlabs.com
I can't find the "mia" material. I'm using Maya 2018

Sell what, the model ? Normally I would, why are u interested ?
no just asking
at the 1:45 mark when you go onto edit mesh extrude and then drag it out, my shape doesn't bend like that it just drags the part I've selected out.
+MrDUBstereo The bend is caused by the edges added above and below
mine isn't working out either. It isn't bending like yours.
I figured it out. Do Exactly what he said to do EXPECT DONT use Extrude, simply use the move tool.

Did you render in Mental Ray ? The glass is a Mental Ray materials and requires rendering in Mental Ray
