    Thank you for that information. I had no idea a .io and .co regulated globally like that. I can make a better decision now that I’m aware. 😀

    Why would a country ever take away registered domains? Surely they are making revenue from them.

      It ultimately boils down to politics. They could choose to take away even one person’s domain name if they didn’t want that individual to have it anymore. Or, perhaps the country decides that their TLD will only be for residents going forward and seizes the domains that can’t provide an address in the country. These things are unlikely but not impossible. Country code TLDs feel like the Wild West as a result.
      A happy medium could be to use country code TLDs that have a strong, long term reputation for being widely used like .co, .ai, .io, etc.
