I’m a new freight broker and although I’m not new to the industry it’s difficult trying to process so much and listening to what everyone’s opinion on starting your own business. I’m still trying to understand the rates and bidding on loads. Thank You for the information that you provide sir, its definitely needed.

Majority of time they want the line haul rate which is the bulk of the rate. With me having been a shipping manager the approx 5-10% difference was not a major factor when considering rates and quotes.

  • @michaelgarrett9492

And thats why carriers are so pissed off at brokers. Brokers are only giving out line haul after thier percentage and keeping the fule sur charge and extra other stuff. This is why more carriers are dealing direct with shipper more often.

Brandon why do the freight brokers think the fuel surcharge is theirs to keep. The fuel surcharge was designed to offset the cost of fuel for the truckers. Shouldn't the brokers give that to us truckers?

Unless you have your own authority, you must mean the carrier/dispatch is taking the FSC from you and they’re not supposed to pocket that. It is your FSC. If they are taking that and quoting you the Linehaul rate as if it is an “ALL IN” rate without the FSC included… they are stealing from you.
