    The cane toads there are crazy! I went to north queensland for a year in high school and couldn't believe how many toads they have. The whole ground would literally be covered with them at night. You couldn't take a step without stepping on a toad. Everyone would try and squash them with their cars too, so there would be hundreds of dead flat toads all over the roads in the morning. Such a strange thing when you come from ohio. Lol

    Killing toads is a good way to help control these pests,but remember,their poison can still kill animals when there dead,so please bag them up and freeze them,and compost them.
    If u want to really put a dent in there population,catch the tadpoles using dead toads with a tadpole trap(its possible to catch 100 thousand each time!!)
    Cheers

      UltraMax Trailers Actually there is no need to do that. The good news is many of the snakes and crocodiles in Australia now know not to eat them. As for the bodies, the crows and meat ants take care of them.

      @ultramaxtrailers5980 9 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Incorrect,u haven't done your research properly.The crows eat live cain toads by flipping them over and eating their guts,which are less toxic.After cain toads have gone through an area,there is local extinction of native animals,and yet u have the audacity to say there is no need to control cain toad numbers???

    Wouldn't be more effective if they had a stationary patrol, like a straight line who cross the country north to south? Like a living fence. That way you would only need to wait until the toad comes jumping by and you catch it. You could also use fences to direct toads to go to a specific place, like a gate, and the dudes wait there? Any ideas? Disgusting ugly things!

    • @MittyNuke1

      They do something similar to this in some areas -- the toads need water, so they put a fence shaped like an L around a pond, with the bottom part of the L facing away from the water in all directions. The toads just wait at the fence since they need water, and then they can be scooped up in large quantities.

      @jedihunter176 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Do you not know any history about these things?
      Cane Toads (not frogs) are not native to Australia. It is not their habitat. They were introduced as a stupid idea to control insect pests. Not only have they not done that, but they are eating absolutely everything else that -is- native to Australia, including endangered species. And not only are they -eating- endangered species at unprecedented rates, but larger animals trying to eat -them- also die because they don't realize how wickedly poisonous cane toads are.
      As a result, they're destroying Australian flora and fauna, and Australian habitat in general. They're one of the worst man-made natural disasters ever recorded. Their rate of reproduction is absolutely terrifying; they have a worse impact than the European Rabbits tearing up Australia as well. Every cane toad living and breeding in Australia right now means things are less well off for native species.
      To be 'catched and stored away' is actually a quite humane method of getting rid of them; honestly, they ought to all be killed and this serve as a lesson for any other countries that try to think up ecological solutions on the fly. Advocating the continued existence of a cane toad is advocating the destruction of countless native species.

      they poison everything, they don't belong anywhere outside of their natural habitats. They have caused isolated extinctions of various animals who try and eat them or their eggs/tadpoles. they kill off other native toads and frogs by eating them/eating the majority of the available food and out breeding them and kill hundreds if not thousands of pets yearly. The only good cane toad is a dead one. (except in their natural habitat.)
