My Favorite all around drummer today. You have to see him live to really appreciate so much of what he brings I think. But just watching him in a ton of different scenarios and groups in NYC over the years -- he's the best. There, I said it.
Love Obed. .. this guy is amazingly proficient in All styles. ... incredibly humble. . I went to middle school with him.. he was a beast even back then. .. one of my favorite Miami drummers. ..
I was a bit concerned for whoever had to fill Eric Harland's spot in SFJC... until I heard Obed Calvaire. *_What an amazing player!_*

I heard obed calaire last year in Eindhoven, So What's Next festival with the Mark Turner Quartet. Mar-vel-lous. He is really adding a new dimension to music.
+Drum Walrus Looks like a Bosphorus New Orleans with rivets, but his other cymbals are Zildjians, and that ride has no logo on it, so I don't know about that. I have a New Orleans 22 light though and it's so gorgeous. I would definitely recommend it if you can find one.

4:35 can Obed stop talking? I can't hear Obed playing! Haha
What the main ride he's using?

I saw a cymbal recently that I think it is. He's a Zildjain sponsor so it likely a high definition ride.
For sure. I just looked it up; that's definitely it. Man, wide lathed cymbals sound fantastic. It's surprising that they aren't a bit more common.
Drum Walrus k Constantinople hi bell dry ride
It is the K Constantinople Hi Bell Dry ride. I own one myself.
Phenomenal player. He's got a great feel. Somewhere between Eric Harland and Brian Blade.
Exaaaactly
Lovely playing. And a great track - is there a recording of it somewhere?
