I was looking for a beard trimmer a few years ago. All my favorite youtubers pushed manscaped. Started watching reviews. Not impressed. (Same exact story with raycon) then I found brio. Have been using it daily for years. Couldnt be more happy with it. Looking for a nose hair trimmer n see this. Wow. What a refreshing take. Could have trashed them all and said how great only yours was. But didnt. Even critiqued your own. Thats integrity. Seems a rare trait these days. Thank you. Made it an easy choice.
I've got the original Brio nose trimmer and thought it was a little under powered. Was looking for a replacement after looking at your review I might go ahead and upgrade to the version 3. Thanks for an honest review.
I've had to throw away two trimmers with replaceable batteries now, one due to a battery leaking inside wrecking it (this seems to happen a lot recently I'm not sure if batteries are lower quality these days or what?) and one due to the contacts corroding up (possibly moisture or condensation got in?). And yet on the flip side during the same period my rechargeable toothbrush which gets a lot more use and abuse has been perfectly fine. So although I understand why you didn't want to recommend rechargeable units, I'm not convinced replaceable battery units last longer.
Yes, batteries are worse quality today. I am getting leaking batteries all the time now. Earlier this happened only for really old battereis, which had been on place for years, now they can leak after few months or so.
For electric toothbrushes I think rechargeable batteries are necessary, toothbrushes with replaceable batteries aren't powerful enough to actually clean your teeth. plus, as you mentioned they are used far more often. The only reason why I think replaceable batteries are better for ear and nose trimmers is because they are used infrequently. The price goes up a ton to put in a rechargeable battery and it becomes a timebomb. I wanted to love the mechanical trimmers but it was just too painful.
with the rotary blades, they were all very similar and didn't cut as short as the linear blades. If you are looking for really short get one with the linear blade. I would say either the Micro Touch or the Brio
agreed. They do seem to take more passes than necessary. I usually use the trimmer in a twisting motion to help capture the hairs. Also switching to the linear blade can be great for those sticking against the wall of your nose.
What am I doing wrong? My toilettree trimmer just gave up on its second use. The motor slows down, i replace the battery and yet it just doesnt work. Happened with my WAHL as well. Its very annoying
The second you showed, the Braun.... absolute garbage. It's what i'm looking to replace right now. Its motor is incredibly anemic even on a brand new battery.
I like your style, but I'm disappointed that you left out the Remington Norelco options. They're right around 15 to 20 bucks and so that's where I really need a second opinion. Schick also just released one that looks interesting.
is there a linear trimmer without batteries? wanna use it to shave my beard cause i cannot get it close with a beard trimmer don't wanna shave clean too and batteries are a dealbreaker
Phillips norelco 3000 both heads (blade and rotary) replacable AA battery comes with 1 Lithium AA. Like $11.50 online high quality. I found it very good for this task.
Kinda breaks my heart what happened to Braun. They used to be leaders of industrial design. I just bought one of their coffee machines and it's trash as well.
I feel like all nose/ear trimmers should have an led light given that it can be hard to see... Other than that, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on the Braun All-in-One Style Kit Series 3 3450 as well as the Panasonic ERGN30H.
I wish you had a EU shop. I bought a Beardscape a long time ago when some store was selling it on Amazon and I have still been enjoying it. I'd gladly buy the nose trimmer but the import and shipping prices would be a bit too high. Thanks for the informative video regardless.
I've been using my old razors to trim my hair. I don't wanna use new, sharp razors. Gets the job done just fine. I've also been trying to pluck them out lately using tweezers. It can be painful and tedious but it's kinda more satisfying after you're done.
One point yoi6didnt mention is that the Brio has an aluminium body which is definitely a bonus, plastic bodies often break or the battery cap and incorporated on/off switch on some are usually the first part to break/fail. Also I've had many of these that have had the head unit containing the blade break its thread and needed sticky tape to hold it to the body. Great review, helpful. 🙂
Because of your recommendation, I bought the Microtouch linear trimmer. I need it for my ears too. I'm not impressed with the Microtouch. I like the light but it's not powerful at all. Very weak and cheap motor. Not surprising considering the price.
@@brioproductgroup1956 After trying several of these trimmers here, none of them were robust enough for my needs. Unfortunately, I have hair all over my ears. Can't stand it. Tried Laser hair removal but it hurt too much. My ears are very sensitive. The best compromise I've found is the Panasonic Hair Trimmer Wet/Dry - ER-GM40-K. Much better than the trimmers here.
Great review! The best nose trimmer I have found was designed for women! I found mine on Amazon and learned women are far more critical when reviewing a product!
Do you work for or with Brio? I noticed you started saying we have different models and we can work on that. You never mentioned we on any of the other models that's why I asked the question
Yes, I helped design the Brio ear and nose trimmer. I buy and test a ton of trimmers so we can understand what features seem to work the best and what should be avoided. I figured it was worth sharing, because most people don't get to actually try this many products. I don't mind pointing out other trimmers that are great options. There is rarely one best product, and usually depends on how the person will use the trimmer.
I think anything with a replaceable battery is more likely to last longer. My top picks for lasting the longest would be the toilet tree, micro touch and the Brio. we do have a 2 year warranty
Off topic , kinda ... Any way to get the Brio Toothbrush in BLACK , here in Europe . I know it's under 'Ollie' now , but is there a way to get it ? Thanks .
I don't have ear hair so I can't speak to that exactly, but I think you may want to use both style of blades. Rotary blades to trim deeper inside and the linear blade would be better for trimming around the edges.
Hate to tell you, but 45 is baby face compared to 58. You will be growing hair in places you aren't at 45. You think you got hair growing out of your ears at 45, just wait another 10 years. I don't like linear styles blades because they cut too close and you are primed to having in grown nose hairs which are awful. You want to trim them back, not cut them to the skin.
I'm excited to see where the hair sprouts next. Its definitely not going to be the back of my head! Good call on the in-grown hair issue. I haven't experienced that yet.
It was a win along with a few others. Just trying to make the research process easier for you. If you have any specific questions on any of the trimmers, I'm happy to try and answer.

Too much emphasis on battery and design. What about actual functionality? Which one cut the hair the shortest is what I want to know?
with the rotary blades, they were all very similar and didn't cut as short as the linear blades. If you are looking for really short get one with the linear blade. I would say either the Micro Touch or the Brio

So the issue with all of these is that they often push hair out of the way, rather than trim it. you can't get the hairs between the teeth.

What is your opinion on the Groommate Platinum XL manual nose and ear hair trimmer? Personally I think it's not good since you need 2 hands to use it.
I had bad luck with both of the non-motorized trimmers. I would avoid them.
