I have been broke twice and came back from it. The last time about 8 years ago I was laying in my bed and did not want to move. My dad heard about it, called me up and said "Get up, get your F*&^*ng arse out of bed and have another go. This time protect yourself a bit better and chose the right bride" I will never borrow money for anything other than houses ever again lol
Hey man, Thank You Paul, your the one doing all the work and taking the time to share this with all of us, and I for one do appreciate it, I enjoy seeing folks go after their dreams and you for one are one of those guys and that inspires me and I'd rather watch, what your doing, compared to most of the garbage that available out there on the great Big Web. And I'm looking forward to seeing everything that needs to be done to see this baby get launched in the water, so yeah, thank you. " I'm Lost please take me home with you." Bahahahaha
Thanks, Fon. I love that! Sheryl does too. The shirt, I loved that shirt when I was in my 20's when we moved to our new house in September, I opened up one of those boxes that never got opened from move to move and there it was with some other treasures. I'll play a game with you and see if you can spot other things that were in the box. Won't be until after the Bundaberg video though because. So after you see that video come out start looking. Think late 90's to mid 00's
@@davidzplace2011 Yep and then I work on the ground in the garage at home lol. I'm bringing a workbench home this week. I have one at work and they have asked me to remove all my personal tools from there because they want me to equip them with new tools.
Thanks, Neville You have just given me an idea to put together a photo story of a few of the projects that I have done throughout the years. Most of these were before TH-cam so there is no video. I wish I had videoed the chop I did on my son's 80 series Landcruiser. I turned it into a dual cab ute. It took me about 4 months working every night I could on it after work. There is a thread on Instagram if you have it called @the_80_project so if you have Instagram check it out. I am building another one of them when I retire from full-time work soon. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Hi Paul your doing a grand job live your videos keep it up but you don't say about your shoulder but I bet it's painful appreciate what you are able to show us the boat will look great when it has its bottom back cheers mate
Hey Kevin, Actually, my shoulder is not hurting except if I stretch too far but I get a little warning to say "hey that's a bit too far" My doctor has said that I have learned to adapt for the bad shoulder. He also said that I can end up injuring the other one if I am not careful. I have taken his advice and I am now consciously taking steps to look after both of them. Keep following. You guys are going to be in shock when you see what we do once we are out of the hull work.
Cool, Keep watching Racheal. I have to do some work on our sailboat very very soon. It crashed into another boat when it came off our mooring the other week and caused a bit of damage. I wish I has documented all of our refurbishment of Hawkeye. I did most of it while we were still on the water. I need to sell her but I am reluctant. I want to sail out to Lord Howe Island on her. She is the type of boat that is built for that sort of trip. Most of the systems we are putting into this boat are the same as on a sailboat. I am considering putting either a kite sail or a spinnaker/ genoa arrangement. I've made enquiries about a kite sail. The reason we are moving away from sail is that I was always turning the engine on anyway and I was getting sick of waiting for the right wind and a big enough tide to get me across the sand bar where she is mored.
@@TheadventuresofSherylandPaul Oh, I wasn't aware you had a sail boat too. A few months ago your video's popped up when you had just got this one and were starting to move it and make the stands and stuff, and when I saw how far gone it was I clicked subscribe because I wanted to see how you would fix it. I'm planning on buying a steel hull sail boat when I move back home to the coast but there is not much of a selection in South Africa. I have seen lots of them available in Aus, but I want something "cheap" so I can rebuild it myself over a few years and I cant move to Aus and fix it there because of visa's and costs, and cant buy one there and sail it home because the kind of boat I'm looking for wouldn't be sea worthy any more.
Another handy video. I am not a shipwright by any stretch of the emagination but when you were standing in front of the boat I noticed the shape of the hull. I was thinking if you welded two stabilisers, one on each side under the hull so they do not interfere with docking it would give you a smoother ride. Just a thought.
Ahh, this will be revealed a bit later on lol. But yes I am planning on putting some fins on each side of the hull. They are going to be hollow and form the keel cooling for the engine. I am working it out. There is a bit involved such as kilowatts per square meter of steel. I have to consider an intercooler and oil cooler also so it's a bit of a process. I have it worked out (I think). You're always bringing these questions up around the same time I'm researching them. Great work Bob.
Another great video Paul. I assume you are going to weld the top front edges of the hull plates first, then warp them around as you have greater leverage, then grind and weld the bottom edges along the keel as necessary?
Bugger, I did a lengthy reply to this and didn't save it lol. I'll make it brief this time lol. I'm not working up the very front at the moment so it is easy to bend them around. When I move to the front I am thinking of taking the plates to my mates' workshop and using his 200t brake press to "break the back" of the sheets so they form a bit easier. I hate grinding so I try to trim using the plasma or oxy. I try to just clean the dross away with the grinder so the weld isn't affected by the impurities left behind.
just what I tell my kids, have a go, if you screw it up we'll fix it and keep going. don't be afraid to try.

Thanks, John. I feel it's slow lol.
I watch most boat building/fixing youtubers, if its a sailing yacht and I have little interest in motor boats, but I do watch all of yours.
