The standard of cases being manufactured as of late are really beginning to push the boundaries of what you need and what you didn't realise you needed 😅 great video man!!
The reason I like a full tower primarily is storage. I run 4 HDDs 2 SSDs and 2 M.2s right now. I also like to have Blu Ray burner, and a card reader in the front. My Thermaltake Core V71 has been pretty nice, though it just barely accommodates the new GPUs.
Same here. I have 5 HDDs, 1 SATA SSD, 2 NVME SSDs and a BluRay drive. Most cases these days don't have enough room for that. Even some full tower cases struggle. Thankfully my BQ DB900Pro can handle it easily, while still allowing me fit in a full size triple fan graphics card.
I like a full tower just for the space. I don't even use hard drives anymore, but my personal system is a display system, and I like having some extras installed (like RGB images) to take up any empty space. Personally, I love having a large empty space to work in during building. I never recommend them to customers, but I always prefer them myself. And, Linus did some testing recently with a smoke gun, and it showed that if your video card is too close to your front fans, it will cause turbulence in the case by the video card, and there will be a dead air space under the card. If there is a large gap between the card and the fans on the front, this doesn't happen.
I feel like particularly for full tower cases, I'd want to hear a little more about the internal drive capacity -- how many 3.5 drives it can hold, maybe even 5.25 bays for those crazy folks still wanting/needing for whatever reason to rock an internal optical drive, power/data cable routing for same, etc.
As an elder Canadian builder, I want those 5.25 bays for a DVD/Blu-ray drive, and a removable drive bay for backups. And it had better hold at least 4 hard drives, because I'll be dual booting; One M.2 NVMe for the daily driver, one SSD for the alternate OS, two usr/swap drives, and one huge drive for AV stuff. Funny how bloody hard it has gotten to find such a case new, and thus I end up reusing the good older ATX cases. That's why we build our own systems, after all!

Also, I want to add that the cooler master riser bracket/cable included with it aren't all that great. Not sure if you got one with your review sample, but it should come with one when purchased through retail. The big problem with it is the cable included isn't flexible at all, so it ends up pushing against the motherboard and the video card ends up jutting out at an angle. Love the "Get the flex but engage that core" 😀I have been building systems since the 80's and everything here is pretty sweet compared to the bargain build cases of yesteryear. I have had a love for Lian Li since the early days and presently have my build in the ROG version. The Lian Li EVO definitely got my attention. Great video, love the cross section of offerings at the higher price points. Getting insight on whether cases have progressed far enough to warrant an upgrade is great. I have a bit of a hardware addiction, so window shopping on your budget kinda works for me. 😁 Cheers
Used to love trying to get a motherboard to fit in a case properly back in the day. Seems they could never get the mounting holes right. If you were lucky, you would get one or two metal stand-offs, and the rest would be plastic. Man, I don't miss those days.
Solid review! Thanks again Hardware Canucks! I choose Hyte Y60.. and did not regret it at All.. Very satisfied and loving the whole new look of the aquarium design. it is 50% better in personal. 😍😍😍
That Cooler Master case is super sick! The future of pc cases keeps getting better and better. I just upgraded my Lancool 2 to the Lancool 3 since I got a Hybrid 3090 Ti FTW3 and I've been enjoying it a lot but man is my setup heavy haha! Having twelve fans, a 360mm AIO and a 280mm AIO with a 1200w psu and a LCD screen AIO she's beefy. Once the 13th gens release I'll finally get to swap out my i7-8700K / Z370 mobo AND ditch all my 2.5" drives for only M.2's! Can't wait!
I love the HAF, but I don't think I could ever justify that price tag. The O11 is probably the most expensive I'd go for, and they do sell a mesh front panel for the EVO so it's pretty unbeatable airflow wise.
@@HardwareCanucks that's true, it's just that I'm more used to sugar coating (even through I prefer to hear the weaknesses similiarly to the way you did it)

Some of us sometimes still need lots of storage, too. This seems to be an afterthought when it comes to both information provided by case manufacturers and reviewers: I can't tell you how many times I have to go digging to find out just how many drives a case can hold, because apparently few people think it's an important detail. ;)
This is not a problem in the HAF 700 series you can fit a total of 11 HDD's or SSD's in that case so plenty of drives. It has a rear drive bay with room for 4 drives and then you can fit 2 drives at the back of the cable cover plate and 3 more on the brackets on the rear front behind the mirror. On the main front of the case there is 2 brackets mounted on the bottom that you can fit 2 more drives in so a total of 11.
I already bought the Cooler Master HAF 700 Evo. Going to be building a Ryzen 7000 / Nvidia 40xx system inside it. Going to go for a dual water-cooling loop, so the GPU and CPU will be on their own loop, with their own pumps / radiators. I even two 64mm thick 420mm radiators, which will give me MORE than enough cooling headroom for the CPU, and I feel will set me up pretty good for whatever the wattage of the 40xx series GPU uses. It will also be my first custom loop, using hand bend acrylic. I finally make enough money to go all out on this PC build. And i'll be able to use this case for over a decade, and I know this because I'm STILL using the Cooler Master HAF 932 case. So if I use this case for 10 years, that's only $65/year. Not too bad, when you realize what all you can throw into this case.
I have always had great respect for HC (and Demetri) when it comes to their judgement. But here we are, w/ the best full-tower cases and not a mention of what I consider the best of all. The Fractal Design Define 7 XL ... not flashy, but functional ! My philosophy has always been "FUNCTION OVER FORM" ! Even if you want to display your build, it should be something that is easy to work with, without any obvious oversights (design flaws). If you want a flashy case ... the Fractal Torrent, and no, I don't work for Fractal !
I really want to do a fat watercooling build in that HAF, it's actually as "cheap" as £380 here in the UK, so not too bad I guess, for the tier of premium space it occupies.
The Cooler Master HAF 700 EVO was the most interesting case in the video for me. I am a longtime aficionado of the Cooler Master full tower cases/My first Cooler Master full-tower case was the original Cooler Master Wave followed by the original Cosmos RC1000 which I subsequently upgraded from to the Cooler Master Cosmos II Ultra Tower.
Look at the top of your front louvers. Does yours happen to have embedded dust? Mine does. It's inside the glass if that makes sense. Everything else is perfect about it. Everyone including my 83 year old mother in law love it. They have never seen anything like it.
I’ve built in the Hyte Y60 a couple of times. It’s a beautiful case, but not a big fan due to it’s poor ventilation. The newer version with fans in the angled glass area is much better. I definitely don’t like the power and usb at the bottom. That’s just a USB stick waiting to be kicked off. Also, you can only use low-profile brackets with any add-on cards, and of course, you’re limited to a vertical GPU mount. The case looks fantastic with a 280mm vertically mounted AIO and is really the perfect location for that because it just looks like it’s part of the original case. Like most vertical GPU mounts, it is too close to the glass and hinders card performance. The use of only low profile add on cards is a major drag as is the lack of any other GPU orientation but vertical. Overall though, with some minor modifications, this can be a great case. Another more recent “widebody” case is the DIYPC ARGB Q10. It is similar to the Hyte in that it is a “widebody” and has glass front and side…… but no angled section of glass. Airflow is similar to the Hyte where you either draw in air from the top or side depending on type of CPU cooler used. The power and usb is at the top……so that location is much better. It comes complete with 4 ARGB fans and the build quality is very good for a case one-third of the Hyte cost. The most impressive feature is the amount of room supplied for CPU power plug installation. Even with Noctua sized dual fan CPU cooler, you can easily install the 8 pin after securing the motherboard and with the cooler installed. That’s a first with any case I have built in. It really does have considerable room for cable management. A very impressive offering from DIYPC.
As cool as the Coolermaster is, no pun intended. It doesn't quite get there for me. The Corsair 5000T is the right fit, the black one looks way better and I'd go with that anyways so the coloring on the white one doesn't affect me. Next is the bracket for cables, that would be removed anyways so I'd only ever have to touch it once which is probably why they made it hard to remove because you are supposed to do it once and never again. I'd be running 10 fans so that bracket would never go back in the PC. Next would be the SSD slots, don't need those personally since I'll only be running m.2 NVME drives. I do have a few SSDs that could go in there but the screw isn't that big of a deal, definitely a huge flaw though. There is definitely too much plastic in that case for it's price point and they probably did that so it stays lightweight, the panel on the back could use some more weight to it. The glass panel not going in all the way is fine by me because it prevents you from getting in the habit of just shoving it closed which could damage the tempered glass, giving it a firm push to close it makes sense to be honest. So overall I will definitely be going with the 5000T for my next build, has all the features I have been looking for, I might even get a mirror for the bottom to see the bottom of the GPU
Seriously? Why didn't you mention that you get no option for a horizontal gpu mount in the Y60? The case is wonderful, it looks amazing, it's an absolute treasure for water cooling but it has one enormous downside and that's the one thing you don't explicitly mention - the temps in that vertical mount for air cooling are absolutely terrible, comparable with poor airflow uninformed customer options out there. It's a massive deal-breaker for anyone who wants to use it with an air cooled gpu, especially if they're expecting temps similar to what you'd get with an 011D - given that it's that one bottom to top airflow double chamber case which has given people the idea about how good gpu temps can be in these, and it should've been mentioned first thing.
i opted for a full tower case for maximum airflow. My old alienware was horribly loud, so for my new build i went with a huge case and 140mm fans all around for silence and cooling, and I also wanted to be able to watch DVD's and whatnot so I wanted a 5.25 bay. Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (tempered glass edition)
It's a shame nowadays that cases just don't have the CD/dvd / Blu-ray drive Bay having it in a computer opens up possibilities for attachments heck I was able to put an 8 USB Bay attachment in it so I could have eight controllers wired plugged in but I understand nobody uses CDs anymore so what's the point of having them in the cases to sell I just wish there was more thought because I feel like it's a neat feature even if you don't use it for a drive bay for CDs
I got a hold of a case, with all the trimmings, from a company that most people hate now. I'm talking about the Alienware Area 51 R2. The (in)famous Triangle Case with RGB strips! The system is a beast, first off....Liquid cooled 12 core i7, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, 1200watt Modular 80+ Gold PSU, 2060 6GB VC, and over 5+ Terabytes of SSD storage! I have to say, this case has seriously grown on me! Weird? Yep. Unconventional? Yep! Rommy interior? Oh yeah! Quiet. Cool. And totally BAD ASS looking, IMHO! Sure, Alienware is a hated brand now-a-days, but for the price I paid (let's just say EVERYONE out there would take it for the price I paid), it has been a great machine to have! I know, so much of it, as is, is proprietary, and hard to replace, but if the MOBO goes out, I can just mod it to take a "standard" ATX MOBO. The PSU is replaceable, as well as the cooler! The case allows for just about ANY size MOBO and PSU combination out there. I really get bored with standard "box" cases that are so prevalent in PC's today. Lian Lee is well known for "weird" cases, and I can understand the desire! This undoubtedly my most favorite case I have ever had in the 30+ years I've been into PC's. And NO, I ain't no MacNerd. Macs SUCK!
I f love the hyte y60 but the price here in europe its just to much and its so dificult to get one . I will buy one tomorow if i will find it at 200 dollars .Cheers.
I have a question with the Hyte Y60 case, is the floor of the inside metal or plastic? Like IF someone wanted to place a 360mm AIO in the front side space, could the floor right in that area be cut to allow for the taller RAD? That is the ONLY thing I REALLY did NOT like about this case, you should be able to install a 360 AIO in that place, and for some reason they allowed a 360 in the top but not in this area, when this area is a much better place for such a large AIO. Thanks.
I like the idea of the darkened mirror. My very first custom rig was a Cooler Master and I am looking for a new case to complete my build but I just cannot find ANYTHING in stock that has all the features or look I want. Frustrating time to build a PC that's for sure.
Absolutely LOVE the Cooler Master Haf 700 Evo. I have wanted that case since they first announced it. Ive been hoping GamersNexus would do a full review on it
55 POUNDS!! Jesus man. That case also should be 499$ of 549$ It would feel much easier to swallow. There's ZERO reason a case to be way more then halfway towards 1000$. That's just insanity.
I love my H500p mesh, is that a full tower i think it is. I just remove the top while in use to let the 360 rad exhaust through the top. Remove the PSU shroud for better gpu cooling as well. Love this case.
I have the Cooler Master. I built a new LGA1700 system. I was actually trying to get in touch with customer support today. I love the case let me say that. My only issue besides it being $800 is the front glass louvers have dust inside the louvers. I tried to clean them until I realized it was actually inside. The case also has 2 of those 19 pin connectors. I had to buy an add on card as my mobo only had 1. I am talking about the blue connector.
Cases with 200mm fan are.. sexy.. Having little brother MasterCase H500M and it gives me happiness every day when i look at it. I hope Cooler Master will never kill 200mm case line.
Gpu height clearance? From the mobo to the glass side panel. This is the new info 4090 owners need to know to allow the 4090 and cables to fit without bashing the glass side or bending the cables too far.

Cheers
👆👆Congratulations you are among our shortlisted winners 🅷🅸🆃 🅼🅴 🆄🅿️💝
This feels more like top 5 worst cases by the way you are presenting them lol
Don’t wanna sugar coat anything. They all have strengths but hearing the downsides is even more important imo for future builders.
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks that's true, it's just that I'm more used to sugar coating (even through I prefer to hear the weaknesses similiarly to the way you did it)
@@HardwareCanucks I prefer it the way you did it D. I need to know the pains of it before anything else. Also, tons of other channels only show the best and not the reality
I see you rockin the RX-78-2 stamp 👀🤘
Can't go wrong with the LianLi O11 of any size. Their pricing is incredible, and their design & innovation is a step ahead of everyone else.
That coolermaster case is absolutely insane LOL
I’m just waiting for the Lian li O11D Evo XL 😌
Me too
Some of us sometimes still need lots of storage, too. This seems to be an afterthought when it comes to both information provided by case manufacturers and reviewers: I can't tell you how many times I have to go digging to find out just how many drives a case can hold, because apparently few people think it's an important detail. ;)
know the feeling. I need something to hold 10 hd's and 2 ssd's and finding a non rackmount case that fits the bill has been fun.
PCPartPicker natively has that info and even displays it on the part select page so no need to go into the product page.
I still think my TUF GT501 is the best. But Glad to hear from you ... Your channel is the best.
The Hyte case is Hyte Y60 right? You guys mentioned Hyte Y40? Great video none the less.
I think it's very amusing that the case manufacturers don't seem to test their own cases out with a full build.
He started the Cooler Master case review with NIN's Closer. I subscribed.
3:06 i agree, that gpu riser should be sold separately. it is clean and elegant especially if you pair with white build. looks part of the motherboard
I have a hard time calling these full tower when I own a 900D
Yes, I’m getting the red beautiful Hyte 60 tower. And I was confused on whether it was a mid tower or a large tower.
no Fractal design Torrent???
I have always had great respect for HC (and Demetri) when it comes to their judgement.
But here we are, w/ the best full-tower cases and not a mention of what I consider the best of all.
The Fractal Design Define 7 XL ... not flashy, but functional !
My philosophy has always been "FUNCTION OVER FORM" !
Even if you want to display your build, it should be something that is easy to work with,
without any obvious oversights (design flaws).
If you want a flashy case ... the Fractal Torrent, and no, I don't work for Fractal !
I really want to do a fat watercooling build in that HAF, it's actually as "cheap" as £380 here in the UK, so not too bad I guess, for the tier of premium space it occupies.
Fractal Torrent is so good!
I just got the Y60 in white. I love it!
Im rockin a haf-x still .. looking at this EVO like oh man!
Fractal Torrent as the best air cooled case by far.
Not really
@@CristianoRonaldo-zy3pq which one u think is better?
Bought the HAF 700 EVO because I figure it is my forever case. It will cater for anything I throw into it and I love the cooling potential.😅
Look at the top of your front louvers. Does yours happen to have embedded dust? Mine does. It's inside the glass if that makes sense. Everything else is perfect about it. Everyone including my 83 year old mother in law love it. They have never seen anything like it.
I’ll stick to my white Torrent. It’s phenomenal.
that white gpu is gorgeous.
My favorite case this year is the Phanteks Evolv Shift XT
i just got the hyte, and it is the easiest case to build in ever and so much room for tank models and tons of fans and watercooler on top
It is similar to the Hyte in that it is a “widebody” and has glass front and side……
but no angled section of glass.
The twin joke got me, I have a twin bro and I rather we stay as it is. 🤣
I'd also suggest looking at the Geometric Future Model 8 Dharma for a rare 90 degree rotated case like Silverstone used to make
i opted for a full tower case for maximum airflow.
At first it was the 5000X (and found the 5000T), but then I saw the 700 EVO, and I 😍it 🤩 (and cheaper that you said...)
Thanks for that review
Thanks so much. Really enjoyed it.
Macs SUCK!
Great video Dmitry! Greetings from Greece! My top case is the NR200P
Lovely case and say hi to Greece 🇬🇷

Thanks.
Is that like a special edition strix card?? I've never seen the side lighting look like that and it's sick
I like the idea of the darkened mirror. My very first custom rig was a Cooler Master and I am looking for a new case to complete my build but I just cannot find ANYTHING in stock that has all the features or look I want. Frustrating time to build a PC that's for sure.
For full tower case go with thermaltake x71 tempered glass or corsair 7000D.
Absolutely LOVE the Cooler Master Haf 700 Evo. I have wanted that case since they first announced it. Ive been hoping GamersNexus would do a full review on it
He would probably hate it
The only case look as good as the 700 Evo is the Inwin Tou 1.0
55 POUNDS!!

Love this case.
cooler master all the way! my h500m going strong and will be used for a decade easily.
thought I accidentally left my Minecraft world open when I heard the beacon sound effects
Good video. That 700 EVO might be the one I would go for. That is, if I don't go for another one made by Phantex.
i still have my razer h440 because it’s so nice with the black and green never see anything like that anymore
Some nice cases for sure, but none of them for me dethrone the Corsair 1000D. But if I was going to replace it right now, that 700 EVO is really nice.
3:10 "timbits" i need to know if that was on purpose lol, if so... beautifully Canadian :)

I wonder if Hyte will fit 4090 with regular coolers?
Happy with my torrent but this is a good list if I hadn't already bought a case.
I think Corsair should sell a screen to fit into that psu cutout.
I'm actually hoping caselabs returns so I can get a no compromise case for my next build.
Cases with 200mm fan are.. sexy.. Having little brother MasterCase H500M and it gives me happiness every day when i look at it. I hope Cooler Master will never kill 200mm case line.
these are some crazy prices just for a case!
nice video, thanks. The sound has alot of boomy room though.
Wasn't released this year but the Corsair 4000D Airflow is one of the best full ATX cases currently out there. Recommended!!😎
What should i buy for airflow ? Corsair 4000D, 5000D or p600s ? 😁
its not a full tower though, it's a mid tower.
Gpu height clearance? From the mobo to the glass side panel. This is the new info 4090 owners need to know to allow the 4090 and cables to fit without bashing the glass side or bending the cables too far.
Mid tower cases next???
I have old Cooler Master X. I really love its wheels
Wish Lian Li made full aluminium cases like they used to.
