    Hey man, thanks for making an in-depth melodic techno tutorial video! I have one question for music production: Is it better to make presets from scratch or start with presets as a template?

    • @TheCosmicAcademy
      @TheCosmicAcademy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re welcome! Appreciate you watching. The answer id give is…It’s whatever is easiest / works best for you. Templates only work, if they work for you!! Meaning, some templates work for certain people but not others. Your goal should be to figure out what you enjoy the most. What you’re most efficient with.

    How to make a kick like this one with a vst?
    Thanks a lot.

    • @TheCosmicAcademy
      @TheCosmicAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michele! I personally don’t make my own kicks using vsts. I use samples! I know plugins like Nicky Romero kick 2, or bassizm are out there. You can even make one in a synth. But honestly, it would take me a bit of practice before I can make a video on it only because I don’t have enough experience. So maybe that can be a topic in the future! ♥️👊

    • @TheCosmicAcademy
      @TheCosmicAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was more of a “remix” as the vocal comes from an already released song! But in general, you can always work with a singer to get “more” than what a loop would offer.
      There are sites like soundbetter.com which allow you to work with singers ($). The other route is to just go hunting for talented artists here on TH-cam. So many people are making cover videos, singing songs, etc. Go support them first, and over time you can build a relationship that leads to collaboration!

    I’m 3 minutes in… fucking goldust!!! Quick question … if your ears are untrained. Is a good way to pick sounds and find out what else is needed in the track by looking at span and making sure entire spectrum is full? If that makes sense lol

      @TheCosmicAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha excited for you to see the other 96 minutes!! great question...kinda hard to answer but i can give you some insight! (i apologize this ended up being pretty long lol)
      ideally you’d like to trust your ears / start to learn how to trust your ears. Span can (and will) help but it’s not nearly enough to get you to the destination. You really want to make decisions on how things sound, not how they look. We dont look at songs on spotify or in the club right?! Something can look great on span and sound terrible. And on the other hand, something can sound amazing…do you care what it looks like on SPAN? Hell no! It sounds great!
      So yes in the beginning you can use span to see if you have sub frequencies, or enough high end, etc. It’s tricky for the mids though because you’re going to have a ton of sounds overlapping in there. Thats common and necessary. So span might show you “theres no room left” in the mids because theres already frequency there. But in reality, you might still need more.
      So instead think about your writing and instrumentation and always try and vary octaves. If you start with kick and bass, you next elements should be higher pitched. All i’m doing is trying to get my different writing parts into the production while trying to make things higher/lower and fit those pieces together. Very little on the eyes though…it’s more about hearing these elements sitting above/below the other competing sounds. Hope this helps!

    What song is the sample?

    I think you selected tasty sounds that fit well together. But what you do is not really songwriting... It's arranging and more remixing since you already have the melody and lyrics. One still have to know how to do it but songwriting is something else. Songwriting is when you really write every part of it that consists of a quality melody, chord progression, sound design/selection with arrangement, song architecture and of course the lyrics. If you are a ln executive producer you should know how to work with a singer in a studio. (a completely different skill-set)
    At the end if you are a skilled producer then you should know about mix and mastering to finish your song to sound exactly how you wanted it to sound.
    So even though I like what and how you did, this is still in no way "producing a song from scratch". Starting with a complete melody and recorded vocal and lyrics is no way "from scratch".
    You have got a like because I liked what you did and I liked seeing you beeing in "the flow" ❤
    I think I might record my process next time. I think I might learn a lot from it, see what things I do good, see what I should cut out to be faster and what is good and should be done more often. 😊
