    When I first started Decluttering I had a hard time letting go and trusting my gut. Does anyone else have the same experience?

    I donate everything I declutter, can’t be bothered to sell things for a few dollars and have strangers coming to my home

      I try to look at as a way I can give to charity. I might not have a lot to donate financially but if they can benefit, even slightly, by unwanted items, I’d rather do that than try and get £’s for it.

      Same! I donate everything for the reasons you mentioned and also because I just want it out of the house immediately.

    I’m in the middle of a massive declutter of all of my sentimental items. I had been avoiding this because I love to keep cards and notes people have written me. I realized that I can still hold on to what the person shared in those cards and notes without the physical card. I read through each card and note and allowed myself to feel so much gratitude and then threw them all away. I am also in the middle of decluttering prints. A lot of these pictures I have in my google photos so I dont need the prints. I feel so much better already with letting so much go. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I’m super proud of myself.

    This is the BEST video of yours, ever! Thank you for taking the time to talk through how to navigate with our spouses when we love decluttering, and they do not! I have a very similar relationship with my hubby! For two months I've been a decluttering fool. He wasn't so excited. He told me not to do anything with the garage or his room. I didn't! When he was ready, he gave me the green light to go through the garage. I sat up an 8 ft table and pulled everything out of each space I was working on. I organized them by like items. Then my husband would come home from work and it took him 5 minutes to scan through the items on the table! He would say "Trash", "Keep" "Give away". I did the pre-work and the post-work - and I didn't make any decisions about these things and it worked amazing! Once we got through the whole garage, then he got the fever and started going through more of his things!!

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      That’s amazing!!! 👏 yes! Sounds so much like my husband! He will help but gets very frustrated when he has to do it all with me. Now that I just have a bag for him he feels like he can do it in his own time and never gets annoyed 👏

      @@minimalease it’s so important that we continue to find what works for us, our marriages and our household! Sometimes we just need to tweak our approach!! Sounds like we both have found a win win!! I sure appreciate you!!!

      That's exactly what I did with my partner's workbench. I categorized and organized what I could and pulled out some items that were questionable and I thought could be decluttered. I called him in to make the final decision, which only took a couple minutes. He would have worked with me because he has ADHD and loves body doubling but I prefer to work alone at my own pace and just get his input when needed.

    I agree so much about the time and energy that takes about selling items online. They say they come, they don't show up for pick up. I get exhausted describing each one of them .Also, I have tons of Loft dresses size Petite XS and not many women are my size, so I just decided to donate like 30 of them. I know I will feel relieved once it is done. From now on I would only sell electronics or pieces of furniture if I have to : )

    ❤This is off topic but has anyone else stopped watching minimalist videos because of comparison and feeling bad about what you have accomplished. I will try to verbalize what I mean. I have decluttered to a point I am happy with having only what I use for furniture, dishes ect and 60 items of cloths for 4 very drastically different seasons but then I see a video of a single person or family who has a weeks worth of cloths almost no furniture 1 bowl 1 plate 1cup 1 towel each ect and I feel like I failed and that I need to get rid of more stuff. How do I get off this comparison cycle to enjoy my minimalism life again?

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I hear you. ❤️ For me I love watching other minimalist videos still because I love the psychology behind it. Why do people make the choices they do and what benefits do they see. Sometimes people will comment on my videos things like "you don't need that" or "I can't believe you live like that" it used to bother me, but not anymore. Minimalism is so individual to each person and what in their minds eye they need. It sounds like you are really happy were you are and I LOVE that ❤️❤️Take each of my videos or other people's as an outside observer talking to yourself in third person haha "Lisa will this really help you? Is this something you want to try or can we just leave it" Hope that helps my friend!

    • @cindyparker8264
      @cindyparker8264 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Stop comparing. Keep what you like and get rid if the rest. It's not a about living without everything, its about living with less but it's up to your discretion. Sometimes we get information overload and it makes us second guess ourselves and what we want to accomplish. Yes, some people take it to the extreme but if that's not you, then just do what you are comfortable with. I do a purge every season and try to not spend on things that are not necessary or can end up stealing my time because I need to clean or tend to it. It really is just suits you. Minimalism to me is a guideline not an absolute. I hope that helps.😊

      ♥ Doing what's right for you will be wrong for many others; some will want more and some will want less. It's a good thing that you're an independent thinker and doing what's best for you. Just remember that there is no standard of perfection because nobody's perfect.

    I enjoyed you talking through step #4. I enjoy decluttering and my husband definitely does not. It took several years, but now he will occasionally want to get rid of something and I drop everything to be right there to encourage him and put the items in a donation bag and put the bag in my car. Over time, he has gotten to where he is donating several/many items at a time!

    Me again 😂. Step #5 - yes! The things I’ve sold on fb marketplace, I just leave it on my porch and tell them to leave the money under my doormat. Seriously everyone has left the money! And even if someone didn’t, it’d be worth it because they took the item that I would have donated anyway.

    I love your videos so much and they come so often! Our home is 90% decluttered, my husband kept some sentimental collections but did minimize to compromise. We found out were living there another year so we added a few changes/purchaeses to refresh our home to make it more homey but not extreme and easier since everything not joyed or helpful is gone 😊

      Also I'm visiting family and my sister in law welcomed me to minimize her toddlers toyroom and it went from like 70 things to 10 and they both seemed happier when I left. I organized things into a storage and future sale baskets for them since it's not my place to throw things ofcourse. It was such a great feeling our toddlers playing while we organized her things and continued to let her know nothing was being thrown just organized for rotations since she can't find all her toys.
      I also donate almost everything since we're not tight on money, it stresses me to be on Facebook, and I want to help others. Only sell expensive items and with a time limit. Thankfully we're not moving and keeping most our furniture right now
