@CribNotes Ikr?! They have outdone themselves already! Swiss Army Man was amazing too, so maybe that was a sign of things to come. I have much faith in them however... ☺🙏
@@sandinogallese8221 I don't know. The Daniels were working on EEAAO for ten years! They're not going to get ten years to work on their next idea. But hey, I wish them all the luck in the world.
No one talks about how meaningful “You still went looking for me through all of this noise,” is. It changed me. The fact that we still crave familial bonds even after being hurt over and over. Hoping it will finally be the day where we hear “I will always want to be here with you” truly a masterpiece
Stephanie Hsu should have won the oscar in a supporting role for EEAAO. Jamie did give a great performance against type, but still Stephanie was amazing in her portrayal of the different Joys.
It actually bothers and kind of (just a little bit) ruins the whole movie for me. Stephanie Hsu performance LITERALLY makes me cry. She played the daughter turned villain so well. I think history will look at this snub as one of the worst out there. Stephanie had a better role and more screen time and just flat out acted better than Jaime.
I was originally wondering how this movie won so many awards. Then I saw it by accident on vacation in my hotel room, and was glued to it. I was amazed and not expecting it to be such a good movie.
"we can do whatever we want- nothing matters." it's just perfect. she doesn't reject joy, or her view- she accepts her, and loves her... and it reframes everything. wow
What i don’t think older generations think about is that as the time changes we have different definitions of what it means to be “tired”. If i told my parents this they would ignore me and tell me I don’t know what it means to be tired. What makes this scene so good in my opinion is that she understands this but also tells her, her point of view. I relate to it because it also makes my parents opinion relatable. The scene is masterclass of not only a generation of people who understand the what its like to live through feelings, but also a generation that doesn’t understand that its ok to feel. They both realize something, we are all just people living and we all come from different places and perspectives, but it doesn’t mean we can’t understand each other if we don’t try. This movie made me realize my parent’s opinions are just as valid as mine. I just need to try and make them understand.
I remember coming out of the theater, crying, feeling thankful for my partner and then called my mom ugly crying and telling her that no matter how much we fight I always want her in my life.
The line "you still went looking for me, through all of this noise" always hits me like an arrow to the heart. I was once completely on the wrong path and pushed evryone away in order to be "strong" enough to murder the pedo that ruined me as a kid. Right before i was about to kick his door in, completely lost in vengeance, i remembered my mother and walked away, despite pushing her away fiercly for years leading up to this moment. Despite all the noise. That line man, it hits home. Thanks for saving me mom ❤
"We can do whatever we want. Nothing matters." -Free Will in a nutshell. Reminds me of that quote by Hitchens "Of course we have Free Will. We have no choice."
I realized that by the end of the movie Evelyn didn't return to her original universe, where her & Waymond are wanted by the police for causing chaos in a Federal building. Evelyn & Jobu are living out their lives in another similar universe. That means the Waymond from her original world is going be arrested & charge with a Federal crime by himself. Also Evelyn's body in her original universe will likely be void since her consciousness moved to another universe
Yeah, in the movie I thought it was depicted as more of temporary thing, like, she hops using instability to access similar but incorrect universes, and somehow is able to will herself to stay based on how congruent with that reality it is..? All I do know, is that the jump points are fleeting, there's consequences for "missing" the jump, but it seems you can stay in it indefinitely if you want, which I think is how the instant transfer of skills/ability plot point works. I think the "extra" possible universes kinda "come and go" whether they exist or not I'm not sure though!
All of the universes exist at once. Evelyn's body isn't "blank" in the original universe, because with her new powers she now simultaneously lives every universe - great and good and bad and terrible - all at once. If it sounds like it would make her go crazy, that's the point. It gives her so much perspective so as to realise nothing matters, while also knowing that connecting and loving still matters more than anything. Yes Waymond is suffering in that universe, but there are infinitely many more universes where he is suffering far more, and just as many where he is happy and in love with Evelyn
This is why American culture is poison. As soon as the Joy character turns 18 she can move out with her girlfriend to Berkeley California or something. The mom is a 50 year old poor immigrant from China, but somehow she’s supposed to have the same social views as a white middle-class 30 year old mom from America. Black Panther is a good film for Black representation, but imagine if the plot was actually about Shuri loving another woman and her traditionalist African brother T’Challa doesn’t accept her. Get it? Get it? It’s because Africans are very conservative and anyone who doesn’t conform to the enlightened Eurocentric position is backwards.
I genuinely cannot believe this movie exists. It's just so out-of-this-world and magnificent that it defies explanation...
I feel bad for The Daniels. What the hell are they going to do next after reaching the apex with Everything Everywhere All At Once?

It really it insane how this movie actually exists. It’s so awesome and beautiful and touching and touches on very dark themes

Same. I cried when I first saw that scene. It resonated that strongly. Now wonder this movie was named the best film of 2022. It's art.

the oscar to best support actress was robed by jamie lee curtis, she didnt deserve it
Stephanie Hsu was remarkably outstanding! It was fun seeing Jamie Lee Curtis in this role but she didn't come anywhere near Stephanie's performance.
@@Mochuslatte she didnt even have much screen time and barelly does anything noteworthy
Hollywoke gave the Oscar to Jamie Lee Curtis because she has a trans kid. Yes, it's probably that simple.
She isn’t the one who chose that though
Nothing matters
The bagel = nothing matters, the google eye = everything matters | it depends how you want to live your life.
If nothing matters, you are free to pick and choose what matters to you. The rest is just noise.
Jobu was actually right, she was trying to keep Evelyn from being attached to impermanent, external things
Everything matters.
If nothing matters, we mind as well enjoy what we have.

Wow. No one commented on this video for 10ish or so months. You'd expect people to be commenting sooner given the movie this clip comes from. Huh.
Im guessing comments were disabled
There were similar clips of the film that got larger views than this, and then got on top when the other was removed.

That scene reminds me of The SubLYMONal Project.
