- A 16-year-old girl died after being attacked by a shark. It happened in a river in Perth, Australia. The girl was pulled from the water with critical injuries and died shortly after. “Some life preserving measures were put on the female but unfortunately she was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Acting Police Inspector Paul Robinson. “The investigation is still ongoing, it is very very early stages however all indications, by witness accounts, is that it appears to be a shark related incident."
This breaks my heart , and by the looks of the police officer broke his too. This is so close to home! Sending condolences to the family.
Yeah I would say the office had it's heart broke too!!!!
It’s so sad but I don’t understand why would you jump in the first place:(. Rest in peace.
@julioregalado1209 kids having fun/: tragic. She probably has done that before in other rivers and thought she'd be okay. Or maybe she really got intrigued by the dolphins. Its hard to say what goes inside a 16yo most times but i remember myself at 16/17 almost dying while swimming in the ocean and the waves were too big and almost drowned, but I've done it so many times i didn't think much of it. There's also lots of dolphins where I'm from and people love swimming with them.. i feel so sad for this young lady not being more cautious but when you're young you just enjoying life to the fullest not thinking about the what ifs 😪🙏🏻

I don’t know what other shark would’ve attacked her in an Australian River other than a Bull. I love sharks and appreciate them, but gosh that’s a scary way to die. My heart goes out to her friends and family.
What was the point in posting this? We understand that it had to been a bull shark.. just pray in silence and stop being original with comments like this..
@@THC57838 it’s still good to share your thoughts.
I love all sharks other than bulls they're extremely aggressive because they're the apex predator of shallow waters and have no competition other than juvenile bulls against barracuda so naturally they'll sink their teeth into anything they can catch which sometimes happens to be humans. That being said the great white while mostly misunderstood still has a higher human kill count than any other species of shark at 333 attacks with 52 of those attacks being fatal while the bull shark has 117 recorded attacks with only 25 fatalities.
@@THC57838 what was the point of your comment? Oh ya, just to have a comment that added nothing
@@brian6391 they’re usually very dangerous in shallow water and in rivers where the water is murky making visibility difficult. I’ve swam with them in open water and they actually tend to be quite docile, but when they can’t see very well, their instincts kick in when they spot something moving

That has to be terrifying. You're not expecting to get attacked by sharks in a river. Seeing dolphins should've let them know that it wasn't a just a freshwater river. Young kids though, they'd be too excited seeing dolphins and wouldn't be thinking about anything but how cool that was. 😥
Praying her friends and family find peace in life without her. 🙏❤
Ya but I’m also surprised the Dolphins didn’t save her. I’m more shocked at that because they would’ve killed that shark normally if there was any threat to human or one of their own.

Me neither! So awful
Dying to shark is extremely rare. Statistically, you're more likely to die from lightning than a shark which makes this death even more unfortunate.
It’s common if u jump into a river wit sharks in it
The vast majority of people spend 99.99% of their lives on land.
Spend a lot more time in the ocean and you'll see your chances of being eaten by a shark sky rocket through the roof.
Those statistics change when you jump into the water
there's more chance to be killed by a cow then shark
That's idiotic stat n makes no sense
Man that just seems like a horrible way to die…I’ll be praying for her family!
It's so surprising how brave a 16 year old girl can be over me as I would be afraid to dunk a toe in that water. That being said sadly I think it's out of ignorance or lack of knowledge of what's under the depths that can kill you. This has to be one of the scariest ways to die as you're not only dealing with the pain and horror from the shark biting you but also getting pulled under and drowned at the same time. That has to be such a hopeless, scary situation. Feel horrible for the girl. 🙏🏻

Sharks don't really pull people under like the movies. They bite to weaken you, swim away and then repeat if they want to eat you.
A pod of dolphins is often a very good indication of sharks being nearby.

@@juliaweber212this is what was confusing to me in the report. How did a shark end up in a river? But if it’s actually “The bay”, that makes total sense.
I was confused about a shark in the river until I heard “Australia”
the accent before the word Australia being mentioned wasn’t a dead giveaway?
nah bull sharks do it everywhere
Bull shark can survive in both fresh and salt water and notoriously swim up stream. Not just in Australia.
While Australia is indeed particularly dangerous due to not only sharks but also crocodiles (in the northern half), shark attacks in rivers happen all over the range of bull sharks. Which means any river in tropical and subtropical areas can have a bull shark swimming in it. Even colder waters like the Northeast US (New Jersey, New York) can have sharks in them.
There hasn’t been a fatality by sharks in the Swan River for over 100 years. It’s such a tragedy. I’m so sorry to all who know and love Stella.
Well obviously because of food shortage sharks can get more aggressive… it’s better we stop overfishing or destroying the coral reefs and stop climate change for warming up the sea water
