I found a pair of German made Wachbattailon boots, very little wear, for $85. Heel irons, but no hobnails. Excellent quality and identical to WW2 EM boots.
I personaly own a pair of wermacht shoes low boots and they are amazing, the hobnails are originals. I bought them used and I personaly did a few events in them and I did not lose single hobnail yet
Heres the nitty on my experience, buy SMW or ATF boots both their jackboots and lowboots are the most solid for the price, ATF's new ones will be a little bit better than the SMW's but will be slightly more expensive.
Buy Once, Buy right. I plan on doing a Soviet WW2 Immpression, And I haven't bought any Gear yet, As the Reeanacting Season is Over by now, But what I'd shoot for boots is Either Good condition, Origonal, Or Post War.
Oh trust me its not “impossible” its very difficult though, I feel your pain. Size 14 my self, FB reenactor groups are good places to look for them, and other websites such as SMW are good to look aswell.
I think the Husarenstiefel that are still built today by the 5th generation of Ludwig Reiter are the best of the best boots that high powered men would've worn and right around that era of 1820s-1950s (they're alpine ski boots of Russian elk leather). I bought a pair of Husaren boots on the website the Rake and the boot is the best leather work beyond Ermenegildo Zegna Louis Vuitton anything man they specifically are made in Vienna and through my research seem to equally have French, Russian, German and Hungarian history behind them

Mike Manners $30? Bah! You should see how much shipping to Australia is. It practically makes it impossible to buy from American sites unless you want to spend more on shipping then the actual item.
Why not just hunt down original boots instead of repro?..I'd think it's a better investment and if the boots are prepped and maintained the occasional use isn't going to damage them..i found original Jack boots in decent shape for $200 at a military show, still quite serviceable..they hold their value and they ooze history,as they should..i can understand repro uniforms but field equipment was/is still quite durable and not that pricey guys, just take care of it,as they would have done
They will still wear out over time, even if you take care of them. Same with ammo pouches, doesn't matter how well you take care of them. Don't use original boots. Very bad idea.
@@annedebroeck2451 I understand what you're saying and agree, everything falls apart.i just don't like spending money on Chinese junk.but in my case Its very rare that I'd wear mine because I don't reenact.just the occasional Halloween use.im careful,I use dubbin(not the synthetic) just as they used.mine are early war enlisted of a decent quality..enlisted boots have a loose fit compared to the officers boots, especially in the calf area.and as far as the other leather equipment including the pouches, dubbin works the best,it won't break down the stitching and it keeps the leather soft.so for reenactment purposes repro may be best, but for rare use,in my case, the real deal is my choice😎..i made a vid of me smoking a cigarette from ww2,it's on my channel for your amusement if you're interested!

I have a pair from Lederarsenal and they are amazing. Highly recommend them.
Have any hobnails fallen out?
I am a Shoemaker if I had a pair of boots in my hands to take a pattern from I could make those those thank you for the video very interesting
That's cool because a lot of shoes are ether poorly built or overpriced.

Can you tell me where to buy the very best boots
How do the boots sizes run from SM Wholesale? My boot size is unfortunately a 9.5 (US) and they only have size 9 and 10
Just put in a thicker insole. Or wear foot wraps.
I do reenacting and always get a size bigger because of either growing or other reasons
I kinda like the low boots more
Do the low boots go with the M40 uniform?
Yes.
Yes but not as well as they do the M42 or 43 uniform as they are straight cut.
how did you made the lowboots color like that? upper is almost red, while lower dark brown. looks so nice
Dye probably
