So geil ❤
Great to watch the world’s best sailors make light wind sailing look so exciting!
Whilst I love displacement sailing, it doesn’t make for great TV, but these one-design foiling monohulls are spectacular!
Nice racing, at last some real good match racing on these foiling beasts...well done !! Wish the summary showed more of the pre-start action...
Simuljibe might be my favorite colliquiqlism that ive learned since starting to watch America's Cup racing
Do you not have Propspeed or Prop One? These silicon foul release coatings are just so much better than anything else....
Show the wind direction plz.
When foiling cats get in the water they are still pretty speedy, making them easier to get back foiling but these just become slow standard boring monohulls......
Need to sort out the lower wind speed limit, if boats are falling off foils and can't get back up the race needs to be abandoned
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wonder if Dennis Connor watching .... love to hear his thoughts .....❤
Próximo SAILGP
Obviously the bookies are running this competition!
45:00 it's nothing like DRS... these automobile analogies are stupid. Tell your boss.
I actually enjoyed this.
I don't understand why the boats that have touched down only put 1 foil in the water while in displacement mode. Surely having both foils in the water would give them more lift and make it easier to rise out of the water?
Yes, but also more wetted area, yet not enough lift to get the hull out of the water
красивые спортивные КАТАМАРАНЫ....
What part of the US does Slingsby hail from? Port Arthur?
The America's Cup is a race between yacht clubs, not nations, no matter how hard they try to make it so...
These announcers - surely world class yacht racers - but say a lot of words without any real analysis - at 29:40 "we might ask the question how come Alinghi foiling" without giving any analysis that made sense, saying it was foiling, zigzagging, keep boat elevated when others touched down, then immediately thereafter at 30:10 she asks "Glenn, talk us through what they're doing to ... to keep foiling" Glen's reply was a lot of words without any concrete answer. Then at 44:20 Glen was asked a simple question, harder to keep the boats up on the foils upwind or downwind?, Glen answer was A LOT of words but did not give an answer as far as I could tell. I'm sure the announcers are proven boat racers, but either they are good at saying a lot of nothing, or they just don't know. Which makes me believe, unless you are actually sailing the boat yourself, you have no idea what keeps the boat foiling.
Run a search on Glenn Ashby mate
Thought the same. I recon people watching this are accomplished sailors so commentary need to be insightful or it is just annoying.
@@briansrensen8204 Yes, maybe - nevertheless love these boats & speed, but wonder if the Dennis Conners, John Bertands, Alan Bonds and 12-metre skippers of the 70's, 80,s & 90's are turning in their grave (or bed) at these modern boats that might be more technology than seamanship - still, the fantastic speeds are nothing but amazing, but I do miss the numerous tacking maneuvers and beautiful sight of the spinnakers. A shame only a few teams entered nowadays, unlike 1987 in Fremantle - 4 defenders and 13 challengers.
хорошо.......
GBR are great at coming 6th.
So, where’s the final race?
Wind died
I sometimes still find it hard to fathom little New Zealand at this sporting level with only five other major nations. No sight of any Aussies, South Africans or Canadians.
Well, NZ has the most keen sailing city in the world, thanks in part to Auckland's flooded volcanic landscape. SA did compete once in the IACC era. And Aus has competed quite often over the years
Trying to find the MR final for this series, your channel is impossible to navigate and lack of consistency with descriptions makes it worse, please clean it up!
Those ball bearings running around the boat in front of Peter after he crossed the line.
That's gotta be a bit worrying.
Was wondering what thoes small m&m looking things were.
I wanna' see light weight, powered-up 80ft. fixed keel monos on old school courses with wing marks. this shit here is pretentious and gimmicky, it's lost the plot.
It’s not the boats that are the problem, it’s the lousy light air venues.
I disagree. These boats are awful. A ballasted foiler - what a bad concept! The foiling cats were lighter, so theY got up in less wind, and they had way lower wetted area in displacement mode, so the didn't have such a huge difference in speed between the two modes.
NEVER LET DOUG LORD WRITE THE DESIGN PROTOCOL!
In 2013, Oracle Team USA and Team NZ has a good light air race in cats. NZ narrowly missed the time limit, thanks only to USA luffing them for so long off the start line
Whats up with Ineos..??!
Ineos has a king to be proud of.
Meanwhile in NZ wind everywhere,
Amazing ben Ainslie is doing so poorly!
There is nothing enjoyable about these foiling boats. I wish they would bring back mono hulls.
And hemp sails
Add monohulls in worldwide competition
Love to watch TP52
It was a masterstroke for Team NZ to bring in Nathan Outerridge. He is far superior to Peter Burling in terms of tricky wind strategy and on the start line.
Of course, add an Australian to the New Zealand boat.....
Non
@@MakaiMauka😂
@@MakaiMauka He's married to a New Zealander so that means he's half a Kiwi! 😃
Still waiting for Nate to help peter burling out on the start. Burling is a great sailor but he just can't seem to start well.
LOL the bookies make some of these guys rich! Comedy gold!
We all know from the last Americas cup team NZ are happy to drop races for the bookies!
What’s the excuse this time, Challenger Of Record? Dear oh dear, feeble
Two comments: sailgp has 10 boats, and don't have cgi mast graphics that cover the other boats... and that officials boat does not need to be there- it is a distraction, ugly, and serves no purpose other than having it there because you've always had it there. Take lessons from sailgp, and clean it.
Hi guys if you are visiting Down Under please be aware that our road system is the opposite to the US.
Our steering wheels are placed on the right NOT the left of the vehicle.
This means that the driving directions are reverse to what you are use to driving in the states.
If you are driving north in AKL this is the left side of motorway.
If driving south is the left side of motorway.
Kia ora welcome and please drive safe down here.
Team NZL looks like Colgate. lol.
When are Ineos GBR going to change their name to Team Mickey Mouse?
And the poms are last, and the poms re last, and the poms are last, bet there sponsors for the cup are worried, they n to get a ii captain
Yes, but they have Ser... so and so driving the thing.
What a joke
Yawn
New Zealand is the defending champs and we can’t even watch it free on our local channels here, the New Zealand team doesn’t care about the New Zealand people hope they lose
Sucks how they didn’t even want to host it here either
Who pays who ?
@@simonmoody2649 team NZ took it off shore for there own personal gain and denied New Zealand millions in revenue for our country if it was hosted here
Really hope the have a shamefull embarrassing loss
Boats stays in the water airplanes stays in air, I will never understand this new era 😒
The boat is IN THE WATER. Are you blind? The nastiest place on Earth is the interaction layer between air and seawater, lol. Keeping that surface area as small as possible is always good.
boat must. navigate touching the water not flying. on. a piece of. carbon
@@Despiser25
You would be much happier in the middle ages. Nothing in the sky to worry about.
@@lesp315 airplane is ok in the air, they are made for it
@@aurelindo1 What about a flying fish?
what a farce - this first race. Just ridiculous. Sure they go fast, but just a joke really. All that hundred years of AC history, trashed by shits and giggles foilers.
Bring back the normal boats, these foil boats suck to watch when the wind falls off. Bring back tactics, these boats suck in light air and the race committee keeps having to shorten the race. I don't care for this kind of racing when most of it depends on the wind and not the sailors.
Oh well 😂
Get with the times
Don't watch then????
Lmao, "most of it depends on the wind"....you know that both these old and new boats...Depend on the Wind....right....??!?...:)
Do you realise that all of these boats are a 'one design' so that no one gets a technology advantage, so this is the very definition of the sailors being the only difference
Most boring yacht racing I've ever watched. Probably won't bother again. Certainly won't buy the T shirt.
Good it's quite simple, turn off your TV then and don't watch????
