Saw this tour in Toronto ..... one of the best live bands EVER!!!! Saw them a couple times and the crowd energy is like nothing you will experience at any other concert.
I've seen a number of interviews with Angus and Brian. Brian is one of those lads who is so down to earth, and grateful just to be in the band. He said in the beginning he felt apprehensive to do any of their old stuff, as he said it felt like an injustice to do Bon's songs, but thankfully Angus and Malcolm said, it's all good, do it in your style. Bon had the real bluesy sound, added with that charm and charisma. Brian, has that rock and roll voice, it may not have a ton of range, but his high head range though, WOW! Brian too has the charm just not in quite the same way as Bon though. You can hear some differences in Brian's vocals from when he started with the band, to where he is now, but 40 years of recording and touring with a band of that magnitude like AC/DC. It's shocking he can still work his tail off doing tours, he like the rest of them put it all out on stage. One of the hardest working and honest rock bands out there.
I was just saying that out loud here, right near the end Brian lets the rasp slip for just a moment & his natural singing voice comes through & it's absolutely stunning (I love the rasp, it gives me goosebumps every time); I just haven't heard it clearly like that before. I can't compare Bon & Brian, they both bring so much to AC/DC, I miss Bon's music, but I'm so glad that Brian has been able to keep it alive. :)
I attended an AC/DC concert in my home town in 1977. The old movie theater also has a stage. They would have what they called "Dollar Concerts". They were actually like $5. I saw thiem performance of Whole Lot of Rosie along with all their best from their earlier albums. I remember it was a loud head banging event. I don't remember much more.
Thank you for doing this video Beth. My favourite rock band and to hear you breaking down Brian's vocals with your expert ear is really great to watch.
Bon or Brian...I can't imagine AC/DC without either one of them. With the brothers Angus and Malcolm, the band is the GOAT of rock and roll. Really hope we get to see them perform together at least one last time. And then...how about a biopic film about them?!
@@Flesharrower Being that Brian is 75 now, no it won't be easy, but he sounded great on their most recent album, released in 2020. Of course Malcolm is gone now, but their nephew Stevie Young did great on rhythm guitar during their last tour. Just hoping for maybe one last show together, live on pay-per-view, if not a short tour.
@@danielpetrucci8952 Yep, thanks, I saw that report. Absolutely fantastic! Unfortunately, because I'm on the other side of the US, that is too far, and too expensive, for me to go. Hoping it gets aired on pay-per-view or some other platform.
Hello ! Brian was the savior of the band, voice, personality, and very empathic, like Bon Scott, with people aound him. the sound is great, the crowd agree, literaly groovy like funk music, every musician know what to do, 44 years of pleasure, welcome to the plesure done !
It’s so interesting you noticed and mentioned the tone and sound beneath all the rasp and powerful singing. I was pretty close with Brian (and his family) for about 5 years, and there were countless times he and I would be hanging out, and when there was music playing he’d sometimes be be standing next to me with his arm around me or whatever and sing along and it just blew my mind. It was rarely ever rock. We’d listen to like Ray montagne and older blues artists etc. and he knew it and sang it all. I literally never heard him sing like he does with the band (unless we went to a show of course) His voice is so crazy good with AC/DC but it’s also so much more. I feel so lucky to have had so many good times and memorable moments with him. I even saved one of the voicemails he left me just because, who gets those? Haha! All that and One of the best human beings out there, and a true living legend.
Brian doesn't seem to have a problem with his voice as he gets older - his hearing is a different story - understandably! Loved this band since 1981 when I was 11 years old and first heard Back in Black - especially as Brian is from my neck of the woods - Tyneside! :)
Bethany, you have done a great job on this classic rock song. You paid respect to Brian who is a great singer. Thank you for that and bringing my memory back to this story: In 1978 my buddy Eberhard (we are from Germany) phone me up and said: ' We are going to Hamburg tomorrow.' I asked him: 'Who's playing?' And he said: 'AC/DC'. I said: 'I never heard of them.' He explained: ' They are from Australia and the guitar player wears a school boy uniform and a satchel. And they say this guy takes his trowers down at the end of the show.' I said: 'Sure enough. I'm comin' with you'. Next day I was the one who had to drive to the Fabrik in Hamburg/Germany. The Fabrik is very well known concert place for about 1000 people. But tonight there were only 60 maybe 80 punters in the building. The band came on stage and played an exhilarating set. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. They were sooooo gooood. I will never forget when Bon announced the next song: 'The next song is called The Jack. Do you know what it means. It's when the pissing really hurts'. Anyway .... I feel extremely privileged having seen this band so early in their days. And thank you Eberhard, R.I.P. Brother.
I'm surprised with you going to school in Boston that you have not reacted to the band Boston. The vocals on that band are definitely worth a reaction.
Great reaction and analysing Bethany! Thanks for that! I managed to see them live three times (1996, 2000, 2001) and those gigs were so great. I love Bon Scott, he was such a storyteller, character and singer. But Brian is great too, they had such a charisma both of them! Greetings from Finland!
Australia's greatest export. Half of them may have been born overseas, but they grew up and learned their trade playing in front of Aussie pub audiences that honed them for international stardom.
Brian Johnson is a monster man, his power is unbelievable. And AC/DC is impossible to not like, that groove with that SG sounding so f*cking good, you can't go wrong. That SG sound is what a call the true guitar sound.
Great, as always! I think the "velvet" came with the decades. I know exactly what you're talking about, though. His voice became much warmer, richer, and timbrally more complex with age. It was far thinner and more caustic in the early days (though still enjoyable). I have no idea how he's managed to do what he's done with (and to) his voice for SO many years. Unbelievable. A truly unique vocalist. To this day, no one else sounds quite like him.
I was at this show . And not only at this show , but many of their shows . Even the Bin Scott show " Highway To Hell " tour . And River Plate is my home ⚽ team . Although this crowd is normal for this stadium. Any band that plays there , it's the same . I also saw Clapton , The Police and many more shows there . But when River Plate plays home games there⚽ , it's 10 times even more crazier . Most of the players for the World Cup in Qatar were from the River Plate team .
One of the greatest pure rock and roll bands in the history of the genre. I think their popularity and legacy is due to the combination of multiple factors, including consistent great basic rock songwriting with multiple catchy, instantly recognizable guitar riffs, solid musicianship of every member (especially Angus, with his multiple memorable solos) and obviously, the distinctive, powerful vocals of both Brian Johnson and Bon Scott (RIP). I saw them live at Madison Square Garden in the 90's and it was so cool when they opened up with Back In Black, 10K+ heads instantly starting bobbing to the beat after the first couple chords.
If you've ever listened to an interview of his you'd hear his real speaking voice. He's got a DEEP voice, which just goes to show the work he puts into singing the way he does.
Been a fan since I first heard them in 1975. Sadly never got to see them live until after Bon had died. But as you've already said, both very distinguishable, but both full of power, feeling and sentiment and, both compliment the best in Rock and Roll. Great to watch and listen to your review, 🤘👹

Bon Scott, the original lead singer of AC/DC died in 1980, and Johnson got an audition to replace him based on recommendations, including from Scott himself, who had heard him sing one night. Only years later did Johnson realize they'd met.
When Bon passed my initial thoughts was "thats the end of ACaDaCa" when they bought on Brian I was and remain stunned at how well he fit... Bon was brilliant but Brian brings it to another level... would have been interesting to see how they would have gone if he had lived...
Brian Johnson has the rasp of fellow British singers Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Rod Stewart. BJ credits producer Mutt Lange for singing techniques. In the 1970s, he wrote and produced Clover 🍀, a Bay Area band that had Huey Lewis as the lead singer. Back in 1981, Mutt Lange produced AC/DC and Foreigner. From then on, Mutt Lange is an in-demand producer and songwriter. Suggested songs involving Mutt Lange: 1 Huey Lewis sings Do You Believe in Love. 2 Waiting for a Girl Like You. 3 Def Leppard performs Animal. 4 Bryan Adams sings Everything I Do I Do It for You 5 Shania Twain sings You're Still the One. 6 The Corrs perform Breathless.
Vocally not becoming a cliche is also the most amazing thing ..cos age and years could make you a laughing stock but serious musos never lose it especially BRIAN FRIGGING JOHNSON WHAT A VOICE HES SAVED THEM FROM FALLUNG APART after Bon Scott's death RIP
Story told by a band member. With Bon they went bar hopping. In one bar was a band that included Brian. On the way out Bon told them if anything happened to him then they should consider Brian as his replacement. They lined up a number of possibilities that they made sure Brian was in. They did not give it to him because of Bon. He proved himself above some top name singers. His voice was AC/DC before anyone except Bon knew.
Just look at that crowd!! That is respect for the talent on the stage and an incredible performance.

So many wonderful australian singers for you to explore
Masters of rock....sickkkkk.
I think at this stage of Brian's career you can really hear him push some air through and it's great. Not the same voice as in 1980 but still nice.
Perfect crowd with perfect band 🔥🎸
AC DC 4EVER \m/_
Vocally not becoming a cliche is also the most amazing thing ..cos age and years could make you a laughing stock but serious musos never lose it especially BRIAN FRIGGING JOHNSON
WHAT A VOICE
HES SAVED THEM FROM FALLUNG APART after Bon Scott's death RIP
As one reviewer said, who starts a song with a guitar shred? AC/DC. that's who!
If you listen to their 2021 album Bryan Johnson is as goood as ever
Viva o rock and roll viva o ACDC
i remembered the movie that was final destination in that song.
Loved your happy smile. So yeh ya got me subbing🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤣❤🤘keep rocking. Brian may not kill the high notes at his age. But his presence is felt
One of the few bands that sound as good if not better live.
Been there. Was as incredible as it looks. Or more.
You have the most perfect smile. 😊
