    Funnily enough I am chasing the goal of 300kg at 23 like you said at 12:13 - in my final block peaking towards it now, pulled 285kg for a comfy double last week, got 290 for a single next week then the big 300kg january 2nd. Documented my whole journey and its been so fun to have this goal. That being said your point of attainable and digestable goals is 100% spot on. I hadn't even fathomed 300 as an attainable goal until this past year. Set goals yes but don't look too far ahead, never know what could happen. Great video, some very valuable points.

    This is actually a nice refresh for me, been training and not really been seeing the progress that I want, despite the hard effort I've been putting in the gym every time I'm there. Last few days I've realised that I've been asking too much of myself and just absolutely frying my mind and body. Currently on a rest week and looking forward to getting back into it next week with a whole new mindset.

    I L❤VE your vids Mitch! You n Eddie Hall are my favourite strongmen. I started training aged 30 in 2000, and got into strongman after 50. Got a nasty Rotator Cuff injury in 2023, which I manage via Dr. Squat’s advice (guy is awesome). Been Log lifting 18 months now: I’m up to 150lbs and I’m aiming for 200lbs (even with injury). I’m 5’7’ & 200lbs. Can deadlift 400lbs still (my record was 500lbs). My new motto is: BE THE STRONGEST VERSION OF YOU. Freaking love it! (Keep training kids: you’ll appreciate being strong in your 50’s, when your peers are falling apart). Have a great Christmas Mitch. God Bless you and your family. ❤

However I think he's one of the best ever already BECAUSE he has almost certainly trained the best, even his approach in competition is specifically to win via outscoring. Question, should I take creatine in my training? And would it be okay to take everyday?

    • @josephmerrez2766

      every day is good, doesnt need to be around training

    • @michaelprice8207
      @michaelprice8207 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Creatine is one of the most studied supplements. It is good for brain health as well.
      Most people can't even eat the amount it takes to get 5 grams naturally. Anything over that is flushed out of the system through urine. So taking more will not be beneficial. It is not considered bad for your kidneys if taken at a proper dose.
      Long story short....it's okay to take every day.

    • @devilseye361
      @devilseye361 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The only people who should avoid creatine are those with kidney issues and those who develop GI issues taking it(bloating, diarrhea). You have to take it every day. 3g is enough, 5g is (optimal) for most

    2:13 curiously I thought you were about to mention progressive overload is not about adding stimulus to the session but the need to do this to overload to then progress. The reason this matters is because folks often see temporary plateaus as stagnation rather than assessing loading habits and recovery. Those are good? You're adapting, just looking at the wrong parts. Your bench at X weight for 4x4 is moving faster, and the first rep isn't even challenging on a day with a little much fatigue from work. The fact this isn't X+2.5lbs does not mean you failed to progressively overload. Means what you're doing is, and just have to give time for the body to adapt.

      it sounds like you are doing what it takes to make a good income, not what it takes to get strong. excessive manual labour daily will get you somewhat stronger but overall it will just damage your body if you aren't properly recovering (which you likely aren't properly recovering if this is an ongoing thing for months).
      Manual labour is for income, not strength gains, don't confuse the 2, if you want strength gains reduced work hours might be necessary, if that isn't possible than neither is strength gains.
      But lets be real, modern manual labour isn't real manual labour (although it is more dangerous), so you can probably fit in a lifting session after work.

    Yes spill the beans and drop that knowledge...Something I've noticed is that strongman shows don't typically have more than one 1rm event in a show maybe 2...so a block periodization model that tends to peak one or 2 events and hanging onto some reps for others would in theory seem to work great and I've noticed using a 12 week full power style program that 1 or 2 of the big 3 lifts will stagnate a bit and or progression will slow while I build up another...like my squat blows up and my bench stays relatively the same...strength is never a weakness and yes you could have a physique like melted ice cream and be strong but i like it when theres some stimulus sets integrated in the early phases...I call it the holy trinity of fitness...you must have relavent objective training based on your goals...adequate balanced nutritional intake and proper sleep and recovery...keeping those 3 things in check is what I start with...obviously alot of variables inside the training category but as a general basis alot of lifters mistakes fall into one of these 3 categories ... 🫎 💪 ... personally I feel creatine isn't as effective as caffiene but what do I know 🤷‍♂️

    Your picture standing between Thor and Eddie, you look like a little guy lol. I know you’re not, I also mean absolutely nothing negative by that comment. Much respect to you.

    Woa. I didn’t think the world’s strongest man needed to boast about his creds. It doesn’t impress me but your advise does. Thanks….edit. You forgot TTC in that sarcomere chain but I’m now really impressed you went to microbiology in your discussion and stated it simply and to the point. That tells me you’re not just parroting. Was it Einstein that stated if you can’t explain the universe to a 6 year old then you don’t know what you’re talking about?

    "getting strong is something every single person on the face of the planet wants to do" i think this is probably coming from a biased pov. If you offered me a magic button that upon pressing it my squat, bench and deadlift would all double, but it costs $100 to press that button I would not press it. Being strong beyond basic functional strength is worthless to me, I cannot think of a single thing it helps me with in my life
