- #MiniMayhem I've gone an unexpectedly won a salvage R50 Mini Cooper for £200 at an online auction.
I bid on 2 cars hoping to win 1.
Ended up winning both!!! Alcoholic consumption may have been the root cause.
One has sadly gone to the scrappies having now served its purpose. So that leaves me with the mini and what to do with it.
I'm going to keep it simple at first with this one. Get it running, repair the damage then use and abuse with some nice subtle modifications along the way.
Turning a salvage car into a winter daily....what could go wrong?!?!?

Yep, hedge probably still looks the same!! Its was indeed a bargain. Couldn't quite believe the hammer price was £210!

Thanks Mike. Yeah, couldn't believe it!! I was googling the crash inertia sensor as that kills the power to the fuel pump fearing the worst. On this it's integrated into the airbag ecu which is beyond a pig to remove on the late R50's compared to a simple push button reset on the older models.
Not bad considering it was going to be a breaker and mobile skip for all my metal junk to weigh in. A Corsa B had the delight of that instead!
Yeah, sounds pretty healthy.....already looking for a full cat back exhaust system to 'enhance' the neighbours appreciation of it.

And it started 1st time today after being left idle over Christmas. Next video is coming soon...just got to rebuild all the door internals then should have a completed video.
Will be able to work a good profit into that, wing undersill and door £500 on breaking yard, gear mount, £70, welding on strut £150, valet £40, £900 stoppages, £200 in, £1995 any day of the week on the pitch, nice 900 quid profit. Look forward to seeing this beauty finished 🎉
Definately will be when the time comes....although not for while. Got to have a bit of fun with it first. Got all the parts to repair it for £150 😜but that's in the next video.

Only need a light refurb but probably changing the colour of them. They'll look even better with a nice suspension drop. 😀

I'll endeavour to get it out soon if this rubbish weather eases and I can crack on with a few other jobs that need priority. It won't be forgotten though as need it all finished by May.

Thanks for the comment and watching. Yep, another project car to add to the growing list. Even more to add in 2024 GULP!!! This should be fun though. I've not ruled out a lairy engine swap in the future either. The internet search facility is bad!!!

Thanks, appreciate the comment. Had to do a lot of editing in parts as my camera failed to record the very 1st start but did record the reaction to it. I'm still learning. Hence, the eagle eyed will notice the temperature gauge is reading a bit on the '1st start' as had to do a retake..D-oh!! Anyway, glad you enjoyed it.😀
Get a lot of cars on copart which are non runners ahad a mini non runner fuel relay was missing what is the advantage of disabling a car .
Yeah it seems a bit strange as surely they'd want the most possible for a vehicle if it ran. Unless, it was a safety thing done by fire service/police who attended the cars accidents...seems unlikely as they'd need a massive amount of relay/fuse knowledge.
Someone probably pulled the relays out to try and buy it cheaper, knew a guy did this with repossessed cars as people think it not starting bigger problems
That's what I was thinking as very unlikely the impact caused that to occur. Probably also put a lot of potential bidders off it to.
