    Nice game. Robin’s change of dice and avoiding gunpowder seems to be working well!

    Great game lads, quite a decently fought battle.
    And yeah games like this can be a bit weird with when to bring the reinforcements.
    Too early as you said and it just becomes a pitch battle with one side at a disadvantage due to objectives, while too late and you’ll see a force completely run off the board.
    As for seeing future things:
    1. Can’t wait to see you go into the details of the Crusader and Seljuk Forces.
    - will be interesting too see how you incorporate the different states of Europe and how each can effect their respective units.
    I can see the French being that they can have the more “heavy” crusader units more due to being a rich and strong country.
    I can see the HRE being a mix of having access to strong cavalry and infantry with the ability to bump up their number due to just the magnitude of people they had. However they’d also be primarily focused around “medium” based troops.
    English/Norman units have a nice mix of bonuses to represent the combination of old Saxon, Viking and Norman descendants who are taking up arms from their respective regions.
    Tho it shall be interesting to see how you incorporate it even if it could be choosing a “general” and them having to choose from a faction list or even just providing faction bonuses for their troops.
    2. For your “safe passage” mission I’d actually change it up slightly.
    - have the defending force choose a passage of one board edge to another. Their objective is to provide safe passage to a group of civilians, money trains, wounded knights/bannermen, etc. essentially something that one army can defend from one side of a board to another. The attackers objective is to both either kill/destroy and/or capture said objective (I.e. they can run down a hundred civilians but also capturing a handful will be even more appealing/morale breaking to the enemy).
    Way to keep it fair is have the attackers come in waves, so half their army comes on in turn 1 and the remains on turn 3 but they WILL posses a major advantage in numbers/units to represent that this is a prepared ambush.
    3. Going into a campaign format a suggestion for you lads is like your WoTR campaign take a large area and fight over that. However I’d have it you are both assigned “resources” that are given by friendly towns/cities to help supply your troops.
    I’d also have it that your campaign map do have a set starting size (going off your WoTR you could have the main be something like 30pts with them having to split off smaller armies under secondary commander taking away from this large one. With casualties in game dropping this overall strength while resources can be used to regenerate it.
    - another more advanced way is to choose your armies at the start of the campaign and record which units suffer badly and reduce their numbers with each battle, however replenish them to full or greater strength with resources while using others to buy new units into the main army to send out to reinforce/buff up other groups.

      Definitely got some similar ideas to these especially about the nationalities, really good idea on the campaign, we have an idea but some of this would be great to add 👍

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're right, the scenario was a way for us to play about with capping the ability of the Seljuks
      I imagine the next game will be a more straightforward, small pitched battle 👍

    • @michaelgriffin135
      @michaelgriffin135 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@7thson726 I'm not a super hard core crusades historian. However I feel it is the age old dilemma of using tactics in relationship to your abilities and strengths. The Seljuk are fast, typically lower quality and ranged attack. The crusaders are more like tanks heavily armored and want to get into hand to hand as much as possible. I'd like to comment again on your great looking table setups. And you are a really good painter. If you keep making great videos, I for one will keep watching. 👍😁
