    im 15 mins in and i have to admit the entire set-up alone, witht he gorgeous table, the historical background and real people being part of the game, has got me pretty excited already. Very curious about the gameplay itself, but for now i have to get to work, will get back to this later for sure

      I really appreciate that mate, thanks. I loved the way the fight developed and in a very believable way as the Lancastrians pushed across the board. Have plans for some more based on other parts of the battle, but also some good old pitched battles as well 😁

    Really excellent game & scenario. The wagons must've been pushing through some knee deep muck they went so slow but it did keep me on edge the whole way through. Regarding the roadway, the road planks you used to use, as most everyone else, really puts a dent in what can otherwise be really inspiring terrain. This loose grain dirt (?) is far superior in appearance. If you get a chance, could you tell me what you used & how you laid it down , and how well it cleaned up? Cheers.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Really pleased you enjoyed it, it was great fun to play. So the dirt roads are made from a mixture of earth 9thats been drie out in an oven then sieved), ground coffee (genuienly its just to get rid of the earthy smell), and scatter from my remaining tubs that are nearly empty (acts like weeds etc). I apply it with a spoon tracing out the area i want then use a soft brusy to move it about. once the game is done and its time to pack up i take all the other scenery off the table, brush as much as i can into a container and store it for another day. The rest i just shake off in the garden, and its done. Hope this helps.

      @@7thson726 Thanks for all that. It looks like really good, black garden soil, lucky you. In my old gaming club, in a game store, we were using really nice (& not cheap) railroad terrain dirt, in the same way, except we had a task devoted "Super Sweeper", a hand held electric vacuum, to suck up all the remaining detritus. I'll have to think about a source of good, fine soil, that wouldn't attract vermin to the table overnight, since as a solo gamer I can rarely finish a game in one go. When will I get to see a battle utilizing the gorgeous Roman Bakery I so envy? Hugs.

      thanks for that, I took the spelling from the Fawkes map which was probably a mistake so thanks for pointing that out. As for the location, its a wargame and therefore you have to accept some abstraction, like 5 buildings representing a whole village or 16 men on 3 bases representing hundreds.

      @@7thson726 you mean this will be too long at this level? But I saw several bat reps of NMtBH on TH-cam of the same scale, they were reasonably short.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@levsharus5899 Thats a fair comment. So there are key differences between NMTBH and how it represents units and households. I like using NMTBH for smaller battles where models count as invidiuals, contributing to the attacks of the unit. Where as HC uses an abstraction that it doesn't matter how many models are in the unit, only the size of the unit on the battlefield (the frontage) if i were to extrapolate the forces that i was playing with here into NMTBH then i would likely have twice as many units on the battlefield. Also the mechanisims in NMTBH, while fun, make for awkward editing, ive tried it and wasn't happy with how the video was going so left it.
      NMTBH can be used for large gaems, i've seen it done, i just enjoy HC for those, personal taste i guess
      I think both systems have advantages and disadvantages, it just depends on what you are trying to depict on the table.
      I have thought of trying to refilm a game of NMTBH but i have alot of games palnned and its fitting it in :)

    • @levsharus5899
      @levsharus5899 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@7thson726 actually, HC rules are too much simplified to my taste. But I like to watch you playing them on your channel. You do it very artistically and breathtakingly. I am pretty sure you could do it with NMtBH as well. Thank you for your videos!

    Great battle report and brilliant tables / figures as usual. One question, WotR related but not specific to this game. In your own WotR rule supplement, what’s the reason for choosing regular canon to be canon and not light canon? I’m guessing because WotR artillery was cumbersome, heavy and large calibre, not like the battalion style popguns that, AFAIK, WotR armies did not use?
    I know you like tinkering with the rules too to add interest but, unless you have one already, how about a particular canon or even having a Commander / Master of Guns who can only be used with cannons / guns, that’s his sole job. Give him a command rating of 7 to try and remove reload markers and maybe once per game or once per game per gun he can reduce the score to hit needed by -1? John Wode Master of Ordonnance perhaps, or John Judde. Maybe limit the amount of other named commanders (or at least their special rules) if taking a Master of Guns?

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You hit the nail on the head. I was essentially trying to limit their usefulness. At least until the trained ordinance crews appear.
      Funnily enough I did tinker for a while with attachments for units, so master gunners, captains of archers/arms, surgeons etc that would act independently of divisional commanders and /or add certain rules. Maybe I should take another look 🤔👍

Also, for a ticker to work i would probably have to get another cameraso i could run it live at hte same time, otherwise i wuld have to film extra footage to fill in and im already editing 3.5 - 4hrs of game time :), i'll see if i can get some more footage of the armies and push in a bit on the summaries as we do them.
