Correct that’s why you buy them sourced from a local vendor. I do resto on all retro consoles. Some customers ask me to make the game look “new” again so I 3d print the cartridge exactly how it was. You can find the paint number for all games by visiting a local paint shop. I then clean and prep a transfer from the old cartridge too the new one and the printing label I have take a while to print but it’s CLEAR and ACCURATE. That’s the hard part making sure it’s 100% identical. I spend about 8 hours on each of these transplants making sure every single thing is perfect.
Now that’s a best case scenario. I’ve also had requests to build a new one if they can provide me with the original cartridge to verify ownership then I will custom build them a “new” game and give them their old cartridge back. Those take 15 hours on average. Getting the right board, the right labels, and making sure the rom is intact working as intended. No scammer is gonna have the tools and software to make a true clone nor would they want too. They are trying to make the cheapest product they can and sell as much as they can. It’s a quick cash grab.
I’ve done over 800 restores and maybe 230ish custom rebuilds and have had no issues with them.
Again, if you want a true vintage game. Buy from a trusted source like Dkoldies. You’ll pay a premium but that’s the cost. Also don’t hit up rebuilders or resto guys like me to just make you a copy. That’s not how this works and we’re not gonna break copyright for it.

Some repros are harder to spot. The first thing i do is to look at the board from underneath the cartridge, the color of the board could be a clue.
The cardridge screws could also be worth checking out.
The "i" of the Nintendo logo could have a circle instead of a square.
The placement of the label is also a clue.
If the cartridge looks new and the price is too good to be true then that's a huge flag.

Most comments replied yes, but one comment pointed out that it was fake because of the Official Nintendo Seal. The Cartridge reads 'Official Nintendo Seal' and the comment replied that original MM cartridge reads 'Official Nintendo Seal of Quality'. I've been lurking online and many cartridge include the 'Seal of Quality' of part.
Is this comment True? Becausr the cartridge complies with the squared dot on the 'i' in Nintendo at the back

For N64 games, you can determine legit copies in much smaller yet easier ways in case your games aren't as obviously fake as this one...
Legit N64 games will have accent marks over the standalone A in "Renseignments et advertisements á l'intention des consommateurs." And an accent mark over the o in the word "información" right under it.
I have NEVER seen a counterfeit have these accent marks. Real N64 games will also have a square above the i in Nintendo, counterfeits will often have an oval.

What happened to the holographic art on the original copy?
Was that just a special edition or something? I thought they all had holographic art. Mine did.

If they specifically state that it is a repro, I don't see it as a problem. Even on the back of the cart, it seems that the cartridge can be used for both Japanese and North American N64. It'd be pretty dumb for the seller to pretend this is a real cart

If my Majora's Mask is crumbling apart, that's a real one isn't it? lol I bought a repro case and a reprinted label so I can put the guts in a solid shell and put the OG shell framed on the wall or something

You missed the most obvious. The official Nintendo badge, bottom right corner front-face are two different colors entirely.

You also have to remember these are old, some people refurbish them and they arnt that good which would give off “fake” vibes.. just saying.. especially with 3d printing and fixing broken Cartridges and label printing..
