There's something mentally crushing about watching a man fighting the first boss in the first sonic game and having TROUBLE. The editing in this is top tier, good shit King Squid.
And Phil is one of those who have trouble with the first Robotnik boss, Arin Hanson of the Game Grumps also had that problem with his playthrough. Also, thanks so much for enjoying this one.

The later bosses, I can understand having trouble with the Sonic 1 Zone 4 boss for the first few lives, but he made the SAME EXACT MISTAKE, THE SAME SPECIFIC WAY multiple times in a row. DSP just doesn't seem to care. His reactions seem to fit it, devoid of any truly genuine emotion. He seems to me like a broken man going through the motions, and seeing how poorly he led his life, I'm inclined to believe it's rather well-deserved.
Phil is lucky that the updated Anniversary Mode uses Coins instead of Lives. No way he can't savestate himself out of the ownage, or from the many fails of the Special Stages.
If an adventure collection ever comes out, and it included Sonic heroes, I can guarantee Phil would definitely revisit those games and play Sonic heroes for the first time for his channel
You know, when Phil puts on a child's shirt and a cowboys costume hat and screams "awawawagaaawaaaAAaAA!" like a denty tart, the first sentence that comes to my mind is "not a child's entertainer". 20:20 Did the guy just T-pose when he saw the khlassic Shanic CD intro? 😅😅
DSP saying "Only on DSP Gaming!" immediately bumping into an enemy after, and his reaction to it is a pretty rare, brief moment of him actually being funny. I highly doubt it was intentional, though.
That's was the best. My favorite part is he kept getting robotnik on the slots and he brought back the past playthrough of him playing it. Deja Vu. It kept me laughing.
Yeah man, I am also convinced he doesn't know what he talks about when it comes to him playing games, at least I know what I'm doing by instinct and being experienced with the games.
Fun fact that you may or may not already know: Hidden Palace Zone was a level in the prototypes for Sonic 2, before they were cut from the final game, The 2013 mobile re-release brought the level back as it's own act when falling down what used to be the infamous spike pit in Mystic Cave Zone. Considering Sonic 2 in Origins is based off this mobile port, Hidden Palace made it's return in this version, making the level available on large screens for the first time officially. It also explains the super smooth special stages. Also, Sonic 3's replaced music (except Super Sonic) was from a prototype dated November 3, 1993. These tracks were remixed in MIDI form for the S&K Collection for older Windows systems, The new arrangements for Origins seem to be based on the S&K Collection versions, except Icecap, which sounds exactly the same as it was in the prototype, more specifically Act 2, as Act 1 simply changed it's main instrument to Act 2's main instrument.
To be fair here, the Angel Island IS called the Floating Island in some media. UK game manuals for S3 and S&K, as well as the Fleetway Sonic The Comic, referred to it as Floating Island not Angel Island. So he isn’t totally wrong about that part.
I couldn't wait for this Masterpiece. I already enjoyed the preview, But now: TiHYDP Sonic Origins is finally here. All I can say is that while this playthrough is not as bad as Phil's Mania Playthrough, It's still pretty bad for many reasons i am not going to list here because of the preview of this. I hope Phil never play another Sonic game ever again. Phil, Stop playing video games, Get of of TH-cam, And get help.

Phil's playthrough of Sonic Origins has got to be the worst playthrough I had watched. Dante could do better than Phil and it will show. The playthrough I had sat through was pure pain and torture but I didn't lose one life even though I wanted too. Phil's feature playthroughs and his stream are only going to get worse.
I like both osts equally. I grew up with DKC, and the US soundtrack when I played on Gems Collection reminded me of that mix of atmosphere and catchiness. That being said, the Japanese is the pinnacle of classic Sonic’s pop music. Both are phenomenal to me
He's also a person who thinks being the best ranked Street Fighter player in the US in 2005 at EVO was an achievement, that's the only thing he's achieved in his pathetic life.
These are some of the most timeless games ever made and I can easily say that I’ve never seen anyone play them all so terribly like Phil does nor have I ever seen anyone be so miserable playing these games as much as Phil clearly is!
Its wild he never thinks to jump to get from the left to the right side of the bonus stages in S2. Doing that makes them all pretty easy to get more then enough rings.
Hey Mitch. I just want to tell you that I had just got this game last weekend called Sonic Origins Plus. I had fun putting the reversible cover art on the Nintendo Switch, and I also had fun playing as Amy Rose. This video you put up is so awesome, I'm glad you made it! And now I'm convinced that DarkSy DePhil is the worst gamer, as well as a Sonic game player, in gaming history. I can play it better then him if I had enough coins. I'll be able to do the special stages. But unlike DarkSy DePhil's video playthrough, which he leaves it raw unedited (I don't get it, why does he like putting his videos raw unedited?), I'll be doing edited to avoid game overs, deaths, failures, and restarts. I love this video, and I hope to do a review on it, in a similar fashion to the Angry Video Game Nerd, and the Nostalgia Critic.
I wouldn't be surprised if Phil was drunk playing this game, mind you he sounds like he has no idea what he's doing considering that he looks like he is smashed.
This man had so much trouble in Sonic 2, yet that was the first game he ever got back at the Genesis Era, and played it multiple times... How, is he able to not learn anything and be worse at a game he previously played?
Well, you can tell that his game skill has worsened over time (not surprising considering that if we get older, our reflexes and skill do tend to wear off by age), but since Phil has always played this badly at retro games, he’s always been called out on it.

Ok, so the music in S3&K is actually the original version of these tracks. There are prototypes of them in sonic 3 and they actually use the genesis sound font and actually sound good there. The problem is with the PC port and origins. The tracks themselves sound good when using the genesis sound font like the prototype of sonic 3 uses

There is a classic mode where the games are in their original versions, what Phil is playing is the baby mode, Origins has a mode where the games are played as originally intended.

I dare Phil to play the original version of all these Sonic games and beat them with all the chaos emeralds and without savestates. He calls himself a Sonic fan but I have never seen him get every single emerald in a Sonic game without savestates/100 tries. 28:48 How the f*** you confused the boss from Sonic 1 with one from Sonic CD. Classic Phil, when he dies a lot the level/game sucks.
And the thing is, this game doesn't have save states, it has retries on the for the Anniversary modes of the games, there is a Classic mode where you have the lives in Origins, but Phil is just too weak to play the Classic mode of all games without save states.
When I said savestates I was talking about the Sega mini he played 3 years ago, I watched your tihydp a few days ago. I was going to buy Sonic Origins but when I found out about the infinite tries I was like "nope", I didn't know about classic mode.
Watching him in labyrinth zone and scrap brain 3(let’s be real, scrap brain act 3 is labyrinth act 4) was painful to sit through. Also there’s 0 reason to collect the emeralds in sonic 1 since super sonic doesn’t exist until sonic 2. The most you get is like an extra second of filler in the ending cutscene, that’s it. The emeralds are pointless to collect unless you REALLY want to see what that extra second is in the ending cutscene. Sonic 1 is the only game in the classic era where collecting all the emeralds is completely pointless
Ok, so the Sonic CD Special Stages do suck shit. I’m pretty competent at old school Sonic and I still can’t do ‘‘em too good. But, holy Christ, he just isn’t trying. I hate that I have to side with Phil on that but it’s the only thing I’ll agree to.

I struggled with the first Robotnik fight the first time I played Sonic 1. The only difference is... *I was 7.*

The screen is wide enough in the remasters to at least see and move. Phil's the type to jump right into the hazards and blame the game.

One of the worst of 2022 Liquid, I have seen worse from Phil, but yeah this was just as bad as Phil playing Sonic Mania.

There is a classic mode where the games are in their original versions, what Phil is playing is the baby mode, Origins has a mode where the games are played as originally intended.

@@sauronawdi8999 they are signs that if you pass them you can go to the future if you're fast enough for a few seconds but the main goal is to go to the past to destroy the Robot Transporters to get a good future, same thing with getting all the Time Stones.

I dare Phil to play the original version of all these Sonic games and beat them with all the chaos emeralds and without savestates. He calls himself a Sonic fan but I have never seen him get every single emerald in a Sonic game without savestates/100 tries.

And the thing is, this game doesn't have save states, it has retries on the for the Anniversary modes of the games, there is a Classic mode where you have the lives in Origins, but Phil is just too weak to play the Classic mode of all games without save states.
When I said savestates I was talking about the Sega mini he played 3 years ago, I watched your tihydp a few days ago. I was going to buy Sonic Origins but when I found out about the infinite tries I was like "nope", I didn't know about classic mode.

Watching him in labyrinth zone and scrap brain 3(let’s be real, scrap brain act 3 is labyrinth act 4) was painful to sit through.
Also there’s 0 reason to collect the emeralds in sonic 1 since super sonic doesn’t exist until sonic 2. The most you get is like an extra second of filler in the ending cutscene, that’s it. The emeralds are pointless to collect unless you REALLY want to see what that extra second is in the ending cutscene. Sonic 1 is the only game in the classic era where collecting all the emeralds is completely pointless
